Peaches HotHouse

Addictive Bed-Stuy favorite Peaches is known as the spicy fried chicken spot, but fried green tomatoes, catfish, burgers and shrimp also please deliciously. Peer into the kitchen and see serious chefs frying chicken like it's an age-old, passed-down, traditional art -- at Peaches, it is.

A few of the locations have a great deal: $28 for a dinner for 2. Any fan of Southern comfort food should take up this offer at Peaches Hothouse or the nearby main restaurant, Peaches.

A late-arriving but fully-fledged soul food restaurant, Peaches Hot House gives New York something it hasn't ever had: a spot-on version of the famous Nashville-style spicy fried chicken.

Casual and delicious soul food – (4.5* really) Great grits, pies, and other comfort food. Although often very crowded, the service is friendly - one of the few places where they know my regular order without even having to ask (BTW - where is Alicia?). If it gets more popular, we are unfortunately going to get shut out! So shhh for now....

Citysearch Editorial Review – Bed-Stuy is home to this bright, snug cafe, which specializes in expertly executed deep-South cookery. Sure, you can find standards such as grits, black-eyed pea soup and barbecued shrimp, but the esoteric dishes are even more enticing--watermelon salad with lime and mint, beef cheeks and the showstopper, the deep-fried, incendiary Nashville-style spicy chicken. Though the foodstuffs have a Southern lineage, HotHouse operates with modern-Brooklyn principles: locally sourced, organic fruits, vegetables, meats and grains.
