Farm Burger sources as much of their grassfed meats and produce locally to provide a superior product than the massive burger chains. The constantly rotating market salads are a tasty treat and a surprisingly good value

What's better than a fried egg on your grass-fed burger? Nothing. All the best is here.

Deliciously amazing burgers AND Abita root beer on draft. It doesn't get better than this.

Yum! Locally-Grown and Tasty? Win! – I stopped eating beef about 12 years ago for a variety of reasons. But sometimes I get a hankering for a burger that can't be satisfied by a veggie burger or a turkey burger.

I was so glad to hear about Farm Burger. Farm-raised, local beef, delicious/local toppings and a good location.

I ordered a burger and it was fatty, and delicious. The onion rings were high-quality, the sweet potato fries were great. And our server was very attentive.

We ended up there after meeting a Farm Burger employee at the Farmer's Market and I quizzed her about the place, because I'd been hearing about it.

My mom is a burger-expert and she loved it. She's seriously hard to please. My sister really enjoyed hers too.

The only problem is that our server was pushing us to have it pink in the middle. Medium? My mom likes that. But my sister and I like it well-done. Freedom of meat!

*If they do ever make my pregnant sister vacate a chair though, I won't ever go back. Just a heads up delicious-Farm Burger.

Wait in line for food – You stand in line and order the toppings you want on the burger. They're very proud of the fact that their beef is grass fed, but I didn't really taste the difference. It's one of those places that you need to try to believe.

New favorite burger joint – Great burgers with lots of options. Could get expensive depending on which toppings you add and how many. Simple but great wine choices, and I love the different sizes they offer. You can luck out and find a parking spot in the lot sometimes, but there's plenty of street parking close by.

My first fried egg on a burger experience – First, in response to DaniJ's review below, I would like to mention that my first Farm Burger visit was with my wife, who was right around 8 months pregnant at the time and also not too interested in standing for the entirety of our 15 minute or so wait in line. I'm thinking Farm Burger management either read DaniJ's remarks and/or have had similar complaints since her visit, because although the policy of no sitting at a table until you have ordered is still enforced, there are now chairs conveniently placed on both sides of the line for those that need to take a load off.

Now in regards to our post line-waiting experience, I must say I was very pleased. Over the past couple of years, I've noticed this trend of some of the hipper eateries offering the option of a fried egg on their burgers. Maybe this isn't new and I just haven't been paying attention, but I decided to give it a shot for the first time at Farm Burger. I liked it. I liked it very much. I thought it might taste strange, but it didn't. It actually complemented the flavor of the beef quite well. Despite insistence from CitySearch's esteemed editor, Jonathan Baker, I was not brave enough to try the roasted bone marrow as a topping this time. Perhaps on my next visit. I also really enjoyed the sweet potato fries as well as the FB fries (seasoned with spicy garlic and parmesan). Both were spot on. I finished the meal with an Abita root beer float. Now I don't think I've had a float of any kind since at least middle school, but I doubt any of the best ones of my childhood were as tasty as this one. If you're feeling more adventurous than I was give the "adult" floats a try, which are made with either a vanilla porter or an alcoholic cider.

And finally, a word about the FB philosophy...I've never been the type to spend a great deal of time thinking about what a cow's life was like before she ended up on my plate. Perhaps that's socially irresponsible of me, but luckily there are folks like the ones who run Farm Burger on the lookout. All the cattle used in the making of these delicious West Ponce patties are grass fed on local farms and free to graze as they please (until their time has come of course). Does the fact that I ate a burger that came from an animal that wasn't confined in a tiny pin and injected with hormones make me feel better about myself? Not really, but I get why it's important to FB and I respect why they do what they do. I suppose personally it's more of a self-preservation thing because I fear that if I spent too much time thinking and caring about such things I would eventually become a vegetarian - and that's just not something I'm ready for.

So with all that said......I recommend Farm Burger because the burgers (and fries and floats) are damn good. The fact that they care more about the pre-slaughterhouse life and well-being of the cows they eventually fry up is an added bonus.

Disappointed: 9-month pregnant woman kicked out of seat – They have a policy that no one in your party can hold a table until you have placed your order. It's not an unreasonable policy and for the most part does seem to work, however, there needs to be some flexibility. I am 9-months pregnant (could literally go into labor any day) and when my husband and I were finally about 2 or 3 people away from the counter (in a line of probably 20 people), I really could not stand anymore and took a seat at a table for two. I was then told of the policy and to move. I told the gentleman that I was pregnant and needed to sit and he still told me to get up from the table. If I was in my first or even second trimester, I probably wouldn't have been bothered as much, but in the final week(s) of pregnancy it is a different story. Or if he said, "okay but next time, please take a seat at a chair that is not at a table" I could have respected that and would have obliged, but being asked to play musical chairs was a bit much. Turns out when we finished ordering no tables were available, but thankfully a nice couple with three kids who witnessed my ejection and were appalled invited us to sit at their table.

As for the food: The first time we went here, my husband was quite underwhelmed by their quinoa burger. It is not a firm enough consistency for a burger and was falling apart the whole time he tried to eat it. I enjoyed my burger so I convinced him to come back with me and give it a second try. The onion rings were bland, the rest of the food was okay enough but after our treatment, it's not worth going back. Too bad.

A burger joint from Athen’s beloved Farm 255 restaurant. – In Short
Sitting in a charming space in the heart of Decatur, Farm Burger combines a gourmet burger concept with a farm-to-table philosophy. An extension of their flagship Athens restaurant (Farm 255), this is basically a fancy burger joint that allows you to feel good about what you’re eating. And obviously, burgers are the way to go. All beef is grass fed, cooked medium rare and can be topped with everything from house-cured bacon to smoked mayo to even bone marrow. So saddle up to the counter, get creative with the ingredients and wash it down with a pint of Athens-based Terrapin for good measure.
