perfect date night! – go here! seriously great food, great service and great fun. you can create art...they have many different media's for you to try and the atmosphere is wonderful...easy conversation between old friends or new friends! i really love the concept of this place!
ONE OF A KIND Portland find!! – This place is AWESOME!!
So I went there for the first time and was amazed at this concept. Creating art, having a beer and a pannini?? The food is reasonably priced and the really tasty. They have bistro food, soups, sandwiches etc. but very gourmet! The space is artsy and comfortable. You can purchase a canvas and rent some paints for a few bucks and be creative!!
I guess they have quite a bit going on here, live music, art classes, wine tasting (affordable), once a week they bring in a live model to paint or draw! Super fun!
Great for events! I had two events here, a great space for mingling and the owner is really easy to work with. Oh and they have parking! Close to the Pearl, I hear they also do baby showers, bridal showers etc. Awesome!! Portland has really needed a place like this!!
Portland's Greatest Phenomenon! – Great place! Service is phenomenal. The wine is good. There is a great vibe there. Amazing...enough said?!
I love the concept. Eat, Meet, Create! Great way to hang out with friends or sip on some wine and create.
The Canvas Art Bar & Bistro is EXCEPTIONAL – The Canvas offers a costumed model each Monday evening. If you like figure drawing or painting (or are keen on trying it for the first time) ....this is the place! Some artists from our painting/sketching group have been to a couple of sessions thus far and we could not be more impressed. Great models, excellent food, super-friendly staff, first rate atmosphere, pleasant music--it's all comfortable and welcoming. We encourage you to come to the Monday evening sessions..you will not be disappointed!

Hey, thank you! We heard some great feedback from Monday's session about new ideas for the models' wardrobes and detailing itineraries! We love hearing this feedback so we can keep making this a great event for all you wonderful artists! Thanks for the review and we'll see ya Monday!!
Lovin the Purple Couches – I love the design of this place! The original bricks from the building were used to construct the bar, the purple and green walls look great together...and did i mention the purple couches!!!??? I was invited to the opening night by a friend and have loved it ever since! I think the atmosphere is great and although i am not in anyway shape or form an artist I enjoy being around the creativity! I've been back a few different times and i always try to bring a new friend with me to see what they think..and hands down they always love it. This place is a must visit for anyone who visits or lives in Portland. Keep up the great work Canvas!!
Go there. Now – This place is so warm and friendly. What I like most about it is that there's nothing like it Portland. The food is wonderful and so is the service. The art projects are super fun but it's also great for hanging out or meeting up. Kid-friendly too.
Hey, thanks!! We definitely try to provide a home away from home, with everything you need to feel comfortable... from yummy food to arts & crafts! We're working on more improvements every day! Right now, Jacob is out front sawing some wood for more art boards and a wine-cork cork board which we'll put at the entryway to post community and other creative events!!
great home away from home – This bar/restaurant/coffee shop/art supply store/gallery has got to be one of coolest places in Portland. The Canvas opened recently and since then I have been going almost every day after work - it's basically on my way home. The owner's are a young, hip couple who have created a spot that is unlike anything else I've found around here. You can go in and grab a beer or some food and hang out and draw or paint without feeling any pressure about anything. It's a truly relaxing environment and they have a unique menu that includes amazing original quesadillas and sandwiches. They also have local beers on tap, outside seating, a comfy purple lounge area and decent artwork on the walls. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone - especially those with a creative side who just need a little inspiration.
Such a cool vibe – The canvas is an amazing little spot tucked away in NW. The space is awesome, and has a great creative vibe to it. Whether you're meeting friends to have a drink, or by yourself getting creative; it's a wonderful place to go. The owners are friendly, and the service is good. Prices are well priced as well. =) I recommend highly!!!
Hey, thanks Holleeb! See you next time!!!
Go Local! – I love how new awesome places are always springing up in Portland. I just stumbled upon this place while walking my dog (I live in NW). I came in and chatted it up with the owners, a young couple, and was really impressed by the innovative concept. Its all about getting people to get together and create together! Rolls of paper, pencils and charcoal free for the taking... and it seems like they are lining up some cool events too! I haven't tried the food yet, but it looked good. Their beer/wine list was mostly local. And their art supplies were green. What's not to like about this new local spot in NW Industrial Portland?
