Unfortunately, this restaurant fell short of my expectations. On a positive note, the service excelled. Beyond that, disappointment prevailed, as the quality of the food was good at best and the portions of some of the dishes rivaled that of the skimpiest, overpriced French restaurants. The limited mixed drink menu, coupled with the ordinary décor placed Marcony as a “been there, done that” eatery that will not be on my recommended list.

Surprisingly Good Italian Food – A short walk from work, Marcony was originally a destination spot for BOGO cocktails, beer and wine after work (5-7pm and 9pm-close). But one day we decided to check it out for lunch and it was surprisingly delicious. I wasn't expecting such good food from a small place in Murray Hill. I ordered the Insalata di Mare: mixed greens with perfectly grilled shrimp, calamari, scallops and lump crab meat. Delish! I asked for the dressing on the side which was a small bowl of olive oil and a balsamic reduction. I drizzled some of the balsamic reduction on my salad and it was perfect. Such a satisfying lunch! My two lunch partners ordered pasta - one gnocchi with a delightful bolognese sauce and one with seafood, both delicious. And always a hit with me, they started out by serving free bread with a crushed tomato topping that resembled a pesto in texture. So good!

Great Service, Good Food, Beautiful Decor – A friend suggested this place -- so a group of us went for dinner.

It is a mid size restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.

The service was impeccable. The waiter was knowledgebale and helped with those who were having trouble deciding on their choices.

The food was flavorful. Not one of the group of seven had one complaint about any of the dishes. The veal chop was tender; the tomato sauce for the pasta dishes were light and flavorful. The food was not overdone with sauce, it had the right amoung of seasonings, they did not need to do anything fancy to make it appetizing.

I highly recommend this place.

Upscale Modern Italian Restaurant in Murray Hill – Evoking the sun-basked island of Capri, a Mediterranean-themed restaurant–pillared by a mammoth ocean blue handblown glass chandelier–serves Murray Hill with an upscale modern Italian restaurant, Marcony. In March 2010, chef-owner Marco Pipolo (ex-partner at the UES’s Scalinatella), gave the quiet Kips Bay neighborhood a taste of Capri yachting around southern Italy with a new bi-level restaurant, white and blue with vaulted ceilings, an intimate dark wood bar, two balcony dining areas and an outdoor patio.

Serving modern Italian dishes from house made tricolor gnocchi to fresh, almost juicy, seafood grilled to perfection for discerning palates, Marcony also has a crisp and elegant environment. The 2,000 square foot former Prespa space flaunts understated water-like bubble glass lights, Mediterranean foliage and walls adorned with another Italian favorite, wine bottles. (And for now, wine lovers can take advantage of Marcony's no-corkage-fee BYOB special on Mondays and Tuesdays.)

Business and visitors frequent the venue for impressive lunches, as the attentive staff comes adorned in pristine disaster-privy white. No details are spared down to the white marbled restrooms with Molton Brown soap and rich hand lotions.

Monday through Saturday (closed on Sunday), dinner guests can enjoy delicately battered flounder or succulent butterflied shrimp and risotto in the 74-seat white-linened main room, upstairs in the intimate 16-seat back balcony for prime people-watching, or the blue-walled front balcony with 30-plus seating.

The space's light jazz music is most prominent on the glass-ledged upper levels, perfect for private events or sharing the decadent blood orange mascarpone or chocolate lava cake over blue-glassed votive candles–a sweet ending to a quick fake-trip around the Isle of Capri–right across from furniture stores and frat-happy Brother Jimmy’s on 31st St.
