PASS!!! – all i can say is PAASSS!!!
the "senior" colorist had no idea what to do with my hair, and when i spoke with the receptionist over the phone i gave her very specific details about what i wanted and how my hair is. she told me it wouldn't be a problem. when i got there, he seemed to have no idea what to do with my hair! and this is a senior colorist?
he had to ask for help from another stylist who basically told him step by step of what to do. i felt like he was doing my hair. he put color in my hair, and waited 10 minutes and then told me he had to use another color because this one wasn't working. so he had to wash this color out and dry my hair, which was literally man handled throughout my experience there, and start all new with a different color.
with what they boast to have on their website is completely different than what they really offer. please do NOT be fooled my the huff and puff of their website. seriously PASS! the only silver lining of my experience was that i used a groupon which means i didn't have to pay full price, but even with that, it was expensive for the job i got.
SHAME ON RICARDO – The reaction by the salon to autrose is appalling. The salon should have offered extensions -- at the very least. Never ever go back to a stylist who gave you a bad haircut. there's no rectifying it if they didn't get it the first time. It's ludicrous that some receptionist would tell you you're just not used to the change. well, you didn't ask for the change. It's very unprofessional and cheap. THINK ABOUT A LAWSUIT -- THAT WOULD INSPIRE THEM TO GIVE YOU EXTENSIONS AND MAKE YOU HAPPY.
I've had bad haircuts from major stylists/salon owners in Manhattan. And I've been to many of the major salons in the city. Do I love the stylist I'm going to now? ummmmm. I love the colorist at the salon and this is not rojas' salon. Ricardo cut my hair when he was at Warren Tricomi. It never was great and I departed. I liked him personally and thought he was very magnetic but that's not hair. I would take some legal action -- force them to treat you in a more acceptable, professional, sophisticated manner. that's my two cents. hair is major.
The biggest nightmare salon experience..EVER. – The biggest nightmare experience I have ever had with a salon..EVER.
*4 inches was chopped off versus the requested 1/4 inch trim!!
*was only scheduled 1/2 hour total for a $100+cut
*waiting lady stressed my stylist (and me) in the middle of my cut
*was treated rudely by the owner when expressing my dissatisfaction
*treated super unprofessionally when calling in to rectify the situation

I arrived for my 'cut only' appointment at 3:30pm and was instantly heavily persuaded to get a color. After specifically asking if there was enough time or if other appointments would be a conflict, I was assured there was plenty of time.....
I went home and promptly got looks of horror from my friends, who asked what happened to 'all my hair' and that it looked like a 'bob'. I washed my hair and looked at it more closely. What took me 3+ years to grow out was gone! My hair was barely to my shoulders with a heavy shelf carved out in the back. Utter devastation and crying for days!!
I called the salon the next day and asked to speak with the owner. As he was not available, I told the receptionist my ordeal and requested a partial refund. She said she would call me back. After over a week of no response, I called again and spoke to a different receptionist (Leah) who said she knew about my situation and that they would not be offering any kind of refund but that I could get a discount on a future cut. I was completely offended. WHY would I ever return for any future service?? Especially after the owner himself said not to return if I wasn't happy? LUDICROUS!!
I explained this to her and said I only wanted a partial refund due to the completely dissatisfactory service. I did not get what I asked for or paid for. She then went on to offend me even more, having the audacity to say "Look, you got a $300 cut and I'm sure it's great, YOU are just not being open to the change"!! SERIOUSLY AFTER EVERYTHING I WENT THROUGH THERE. So in essence, she is saying that when a customer walks into Ricardo Rojas, THEY decide what kind of cut you are going to receive and you better be willing to accept the change! Unless you are a puppet on a string and want people to make decisions for you on how your hair should be....STAY AWAY!!!

Ricardo is a hair god! – Ricardo is the only person who touches my hair! I've dated 2 celebrity stylists and used to be a hair model for Vidal Sassoon and I used to shake when people did my hair for fear that they'd f*ck it up. I go to Ricardo and tell him to do what he wants. I love him, I trust him and I will never go anywhere else!!!
Great experience! – This is such an incredible salon! At the urging of my sister, I went last week for a cut and color and both were amazing. The stylists were so friendly and very talented. I also loved the decor of the salon itself, just gorgeous.
