You will have to wait to get a table, but it's so worth it. Pure, delicious, big bowl of ramen. Cash only.

Totto is a pain to get into, but the ramen is worth it. Sit at the bar and watch the chefs torch char siu pork and work as a smooth assembly line of broth, noodle and toppings. The miso was flavorful but not overpoweringly rich, the pork not too fatty, the broth comforting, and the egg with soy, sake and mirin so umami. It's a ramen I could eat every day and not be overwhelmed by.

Ramen nerds are hardcore indeed, and this is the place for them. There is no decor, no space, and no air-conditioning. The menu pretty much consists of ramen, and it's great.

Get there early and expect a line, but their ramen is worth the wait. BTW, when they say spicy, they mean SPICY!

A blowtorch gives the two slices of mildly fatty pork a slick char but the Spicy Ramen broth could use a porkier, more fragrant kick.

Another overhyped place in NYC – I don't know why Totto Ramen is so crowded for OK food. I was excited to try as I loved Yakitori Totto. The broth had flavor, but very salty and unbalanced. The Niku Ramen had variety of pork meat. Pork was tender, but very fatty. We waited 2 hrs for party of 4. There were 5 groups of 3's or 4's ahead of us. Host decided to give the tables that seat 4's to groups of 2's instead, so the larger group just queued on the line. I visited Tokyo, any subway ramen stand is better than Totto Ramen. . Sadly, I will not be returning to Totto Ramen. There are better places in NYC to try than wait 2 hrs for.

Worth the wait as long as it's not raining or cold – I can never make it to lunch as the wait time is so long. So we tried for dinner last night and waited 40 minutes. It happened to be cold and we had to stand on the sidewalk outside given the limited space near the covered entrance. Not sure why turnaround is not faster since there are a limited number of menu options (how long does it take to cook noodles?) and the no-frill, tight space does not encourage lingering. It doesn’t help that there’s about 20 seats only in the entire place.

From the time we sit down to the time we pay, it was only a 30 minute meal for us.

I ordered the Totto Chicken Paitan ramen with pork. The soup was very good, like liquefied-chicken essence, but I felt it was a bit light on the vegetables (scallions and diced raw onions). My sister ordered the Totto Spicy ramen with chicken. It wasn’t very spicy but it does cut through the chicken-ness taste of the soup. If the taste of meat is too rich for you like it is for my sister, then this is a good choice.

I would definitely come back and try the Totto Miso ramen. But I’m not going to come back that quickly since my feet are still sore from standing and waiting for 40 minutes.

chicken paitan ramen – really really really good ramen.

limited selection, but everything is yum!

Haven't tried Ippudo, but so far the best ramen I had in NYC.

But the line is long. No matter when you come, be ready to wait in line for one hour minimum.

Check yelp reviews and you will know how good it is.

TOtto Ramen – it was ok, a little disappointed as, Yakitori Totto is fabulous. The service is quick and casual, not fine dining. Get in get out. Food was ok, I have had better.

The pork was really fatty :(, The soup was good.

Citysearch Editorial Review – The folks behind wildly popular Japanese joints Yakitori Totto and Soba Totto have opened this tiny ramen outpost in Hell’s Kitchen, seating just 16 noodle-crazed diners at a long wooden bar. But this isn’t your average college-style ramen fest. Elevating the humble ramen noodle to new heights, Totto’s streamlined menu offers just a handful of deeply flavorful, fresh ingredient-packed soup options, including five ramen choices (topped with hand-seared pork or chicken) and several unique, savory sides--like pork toro buns with yuzu mayo and pickled cucumbers. The minimalist, unpretentious vibe (think blond wood and a view of the bustling, stainless steel-accented kitchen), ensures that the focus remains on the food.
