Citysearch Editorial Review – The second incarnation of the successful Fremont pub, The George and Dragon, John Bayliss’ new Ballard location, The Market Arms, has a distinctly separate charm. Distinguishing itself from the darker, well-worn G&D, this popular football pub has a certain newness: shiny floors, five big flat screen televisions, an extremely open room filled with natural light, and a full, well-put-together bar. On a sunny day, sit on the huge patio–they’ll also put a TV outside on busy game days. The pub is an excellent spot to meet up with friends to watch a game or converse over a few drinks at any time of the day. Go to their website to check their “telly” schedule, as they will open as early as 7am for big games (there’s nothing like an Irish coffee and a pint of Newcastle before 9am). The pub's menu features classically English fare like beans on toast, shepherd’s pie, fish and chips, bangers and mash, etc. A lover of the George will love The Market Arms, but for very different reasons.
