We love this place – I hate to admit but this place is one of our addictions.....I appreciate that every item is made fresh every single day....the pizza, pasta and salads are the absolute of the best bargains in DC....I am always surprised at how the food is kept so low cost ...and delicious...I have been a fan for a few years...excited because I am headed there 2nite...Yeahhhhh!

Serve Yourself, its Italian – It’s the high school cafeteria all over again, except every table is the cool kids table. Oh, and also lunchlady mystery meat is replaced by salads, pizza, pasta, and something you never found on your Styrofoam tray – beer! Certainly the service is friendly, but its up to you to order at the bar and bring your food to the table that you have been hovering over for a half-hour, waiting for the guys from fifth period to hurry up and finish. Happy hour is really happy day all day on Sunday, with $4 beer and wine. Pizzas, at about $10, are more than large enough to split and have some to take home, especially after splitting the crunchy and fresh bruschetta.

Quick, Tasty, Inexpensive Italian – Vapiano is one of the few European restaurant and cafe chains that has managed to cross the pond and infiltrate itself in large US cities, particularly our own. I've actually been to both the M St. location and I come to H St. location more often now since it's closer to my 'hood. And I genuinely like this spot; it's not awe-inspiring, tastes-like-grandma made it Italian, but it works when you're feeling pasta for the night but don't have the time or effort to make some your own. They operate on a debit-card system, where you receive a card when you walk in, order at the counters in the back, and tap the card to the chefs' computers after you've made your order. You pay on your way out. It's a pretty good system and eliminates the need for waits or tips. And considering most dishes are less than $11 or $12, the food is worth it. They have an array of pastas, salads and pizzas to choose from, including classics like spaghetti bolognese or margherita pizza, and originals like an asian inspired pasta with chicken, bok choy and a light, spicy sauce. They also offer whole wheat pasta options, which is a huge plus for health-conscious folks. If you come in after work from around 5 to 8, expect lots of workers hang around the bar - they offer daily happy hour specials like half off sangria (which is quite good).
