My experience with VCA has been amazing from day 1! We brought our 7 month old kitty Somoa in after a botched fracture repair from another vet and Dr. Saylor at VCA recognized the problem right away and was so kind and helpful & I could tell she genuinly cared about Somoa's well being (and mine! I was such a mess!) she made sure Somoa was comfortable and got her in for surgery the next day & kept her there until she was certain she was ok. The whole staff at VCA has been SO accommodating and understanding of our situation! Two surgeries in one week is a lot for a pet owner and even more for a little cat! From the minute Dr Saylor and VCA took charge of Somoa's care she has been recovering quickly, they made sure she was and not in any pain and they were so amazing answering all my questions and concerns in the days following- i must have called 20 times!. They even helped me contact the other vet to get that issue resolved. They REALLY care about the animals they treat at VCA and I will never go anywhere else! I am so happy and appreciative of their excellent service and accommodation of my financial situation. Best clinic ever!
South and North, there are two locations with the same name. I have been to both. While the north location is very busy and open all the time they are good for emergency care and after hour stuff. The other location down in Spanaway is smaller and more friendly. Dr. Woods is very warm and actually spends a great deal of time on my dog during her exam each time I go in. She is very informative and always follows up with a phone call just to see "How is he doing?" I love this. The staff there are caring and friendly and remember my name and my pets name everytime I come in. They give me a military discount too! After reading all the reviews it seems to me that both hospitals get clumped together in the same review. They are like apples and oranges. Both are fruit but not the same. While they are both vet offices... one is more for emergencies.. the Spanaway Pacific Avenue with Dr. Woods, I would recommend to all.
Evil, Preditory, Sad – VCA Pacific Animal Hospital should be investigated by Washington State for unethical business practices. With-in hours of taking our dog to them because she had been shot by a "Public Servant" VCA ordered tests and procedures we never asked for nor authorized, then charged us over $1000 extra for a dental and heartworm exam she did not need (she'd had one @ her regular vet but NO ONE from VCA bothered to call and ask us.) So we had paid $1500 upfront for emergency services, even signed up for and was approved for VCA Pet Insurance which was supposed to help cover the bill. But instead of just helping the dog which had been shot what did VCA do?
A Dental! An exam for heart worms we knew she didn t have and we had the test results from her regular vet to prove it. The bill contained every conceivable test and treatment they could run and charge us for even though they never asked us if we wanted them done, they just did them and ran up their bill. The billing statement was full of examples of unnecessary price gouging for treatments and tests that were never asked for or authorized and all billed to us without ever asking us. When we informed him we couldn't pay the sudden EXTRA $1000.00 at that exact minute they told us our only options were to take the dog home and let her die from her gun shot wound, put her to sleep because we couldn't afford the extra charges or to surrender her to them and they would find her a "Good Home" . Despite pleading to work out a payment plan for the extra charges our pleas only fell upon deaf ears and eventually our dog was released to their Care never to be seen by us again. Because he life meant more to us than fighting with VCA and their predatory practices. We have retained legal council to deal with VCA from now on but we fear we will never know what happened to our beloved dog. This sad story all started because VCA ran up the bill for services that had nothing to do with the emergency we brought her to them for (as I said we had paid that before they would even see her). I wouldn't recommend a cockroach owner let alone a real pet owner use VCA Pacific Ave Hospital which clearly is about running up charges and maximizing their profits at you and your pet's expense. Money and greed over actual Animal Care. That's not a veterinary service, that's predatory, cynical and greedy. Plain and simple. I only hope there is a special ring in Hades for people like them.
