I've found my stylist – Eclat is an amazing salon in the Chelsea art district. I moved to NYC last September and did due diligence searching for an affordable, fashionable stylist. After reading the incredible reviews on CitySearch, I decided to give eclat a try. I'm so glad I did! Like G Bear, I've been 4 times and have been extremely happy each time.

I'm not sure what Mellymell/IncognitoNYC is talking about. My experience has been nothing short of fantastic. Min listens to what I want and makes great suggestions without being pushy. I trust her to do what she thinks is best. She's been right every time.

Min is talented and personable. Even after my first time there, I left feeling like I had met a friend.

Another bonus for me... Min also has a small clothing line that she designs and sells in the salon, as well as amazing hair and skin care products. I strongly recommend it.

LOVE my haircuts by Eclat's owner Min – I tried Eclat using a gift voucher my friend, a long-time New Yorker gave me for X'mas. She purchased one for me after liking her friend's hair who is cut by Min. I had been in NY for 12 months when I first went to Min. I moved from from Hong Kong where I was going to one of the top hairstylists there for the last 8 years. In fact, I was so loyal to my Hong Kong hairstylist that I scheduled my cuts around my Asia trips. I did try Fekkai in SoHo a couple of times in NY and while they were good, I wasn't really loving my cuts and I found they grew out really quickly, ie 4 weeks even though my hair doesn't grow particularly fast. I have been to Min 4 times now and I love her cuts. She is an excellent hairstylist. The first time I came in, I brought a photo of Selma Hayak's short hair, blown out. I showed Min and I will never forget she held the photo, looked at it and said, "That's very nice. But, your hair is different and it will not look like that. So let's talk about your hair." It was really funny. She was right though - having fine hair, there was no way mine was going to look like that and she wasn't going to promise anything different. I am dismayed to read about the review from incognitonyc because although Min did not treat this customer, she is really talented and she is the owner and I hope that review does not detract customers from checking out Eclat. Min introduced me to the Sea Salt spray which is perfect for my hair. Not that it matters to me, but I get a lot of compliments on my hair cut (and it's not like I have a naturally gorgeous mane of hair) and especially over time as the cut grows in. A woman at the office whom I rarely spoke really wanted to know who cut my hair and now she goes to Min too and loves it. My last cut was on June 15 2011. I read the review below when I was checking on the address again and decided to wait to see what my experience was like before I wrote anything. I actually created this account to write this review because that's how much I believe in Min's talents! I would give her 5 stars but as for the overall experience, I give it 4 stars (I'd actually give 4.5 if they had it) because I like a longer massage when my hair is getting washed, and the girl didn't towell off my ears. Also, the neck cradle in those sinks are not that comfortable but none of them ever are. So that's my honest balanced overview. If you want to get a haircut you LOVE go to Min. She's awesome.

You're making a HUGE mistake if you go here!!!! – Is it not possible to give O stars?

I have never felt compelled to write a negative review of any place in my life. I tend to find them offensive. As awful an experience I've had in any establishment, having worked in 5 star hotels and having to respond to negative comments on a daily basis, I am always the first to "give second chances" and sympathize with "room for improvement for new employees" It is ALWAYS my nature to forgive and forget.

I am IRATE with my experience at ECLAT today, and, I will not be kind. My visit today was UNforgivable and UNacceptable. I MUST warn any potential customer who is considering this salon to choose ANY other salon before stepping foot in this place- The above reviews (with all 5 star ratings..Fishy, huh?) were obviously written by the salon owner and/or her horrific, untrained staff to in an attempt to attract new clientele.

What you read now is written by a customer!! (ironically, the only customer there during my visit)

I left ECLAT today devastated, from a hair color (single process) which was HORRIBLY applied and is mortifying in appearance. My hair is (WAS) a natural brown with warm highlights, for which my entire life I've received compliments.

Now... picture, if you will, either Donald Trump's hair or the paint which comes out of an orange spray can at Halloween, and you will have an image of the disatrous streak that was left right down the center of my head in an uneven zigzag line. I was shocked and devastated wih the results, when I looked in the mirror. I had ORANGE clown hair (& only on one patch on the top of my head!) There was dye left on my face and hairline, the stylist burnt my skin and scalp, and the few greys, which I originally came in to get rid of were left completely untouched.

I am now left with ridiculous looking streaks and greys. The salon owner, Min, offered no consolation other than repeat apologies (which really changes nothing, since she will not be the one walking around having to explain why she looks like Bozo!), Her remarks to me were, "They do their best," telling me, "Im a very pretty girl, and I should not feel sad about the outcome", "The sylist was new, and that's the risk you take", and finally asked ME to inform HER "what she should do about it?". To top it all off, she wanted to take a picture of the hair. Are you kidding me?!?!?!

OK!., The girl was training and new., but apprentice or not, seriously! Successful salons in NYC do not staff hair stylists of such a low caliber.

As for a Zen atmosphere (as the website claims), Min has a Maltese dog with a gate you must climb over at the entrance of the salon. While some might find this cute (I did when I entered, as I'm a dog lover), If you're seeking serenity, (which most do in a salon), I am sure your tranquil experience does not include a high pitched yelping dog who is running over to you the entire time, humping your leg (NON stop), while you are trying to relax.

Throughout my treatment, rather than checking on me ONE time, and/or surveying/overseeing the stylist (apprentice), the owner, instead ,spent her time disciplining her dog and chatting on the phone. She stopped by, only when I sat down, to tell the stylist, "I'd use an 8 on her hair" So much for ANY clear communication with your clients.

Had I not spoken up devastated at the end, she would have spent more time interacting with the dog than with her client.

Please don't be fooled by some chic products in the front of the store, ECLAT is FAR from a high end salon and WILL NOT and SHOULD NOT stay in business!!

Neither myself or any of my colleagues will visit. I intend to spread the word, as I will likely be spending weeks! (until this dye washes out) explaining to EVERYONE I encounter that a salon called ECLAT ruined my hair.

My first negative review EVER.

THE BEST HAIR SALON IN NEW YORK CITY. PROFESSIONAL! – I have just moved to New York and was in desperate need of a great hair cut and color. I was recommended to go to Eclat Salon and ask for Min. I usually do not leave reviews, but feel so compelled to do so, as my experience was sublime. The zen atmosphere, the wonderful people who work there and Min the very best of all.

I look amazing and have found my special place.

You need to go there too!

Best Salon in NYC – I got an amazing hair cut by Min. The owner of the salon. She is wonderful. First, I thought the price was little expensive for me, but I realize that I don't need to cut as much as I used to. Which is worth it~!

I got my hair cut about two weeks ago, and I really don't have to do much in the morning.

Salon and the staff are very nice, professional and relaxing. I am definitely going back to Min and will tell all my friends to go to eclat salon.

Best Hair Cut! – I Went to Min at eclat salon. I was recommended by one of my friend who gets hair cut by Min. First, I really want to say the Best hair cut I ever got in my life. Not only she gave me a perfect hair cut, now I really don't have to do much at all in the morning. She gave me a beautiful hair cut that I absolutely Love. Also, Min's price, compare to the other high-end salon owners, it is really reasonable. I am so happy that I finally found someone that really understands my hair and gave me a great style. Last, She is really genuine and pretty!

Min is THE BEST!!! – I have been going to Min for the past 5 years and was so excited when she opened her own salon. Min is an amazing colorist! I have searched high and low for someone to give me natural looking blond highlights. Now that I've found Min I'll never leave her!! She gets my color just right every time. And Min is the NICEST person you will ever meet. It's like talking with your oldest friend when you go to visit her - the best!

The salon is beautiful. It's clean, beautifully decorated and modern. I have a baby at home and it's like a much needed spa retreat everytime I go to see Min! And I love the new make up line that they carry - so great!

I can't recommend Min and Eclat Salon enough. THE BEST!!

Amazing Salon – A friend of mine recommended Min at Eclat Salon because I was looking for a new colorist. I am so glad I took her recommendation!! My hair is naturally dark brown, but Min was able to give me such natural looking blond highlights that people are astonished when I tell them I am really a brunette. Min also gave me a great cut that does not lose its shape. She makes you feel very comfortable and listens to what works best for you and your lifestyle. Her Assistant Tori is wonderful too, she gave the most relaxing shampoo ever. I almost fell asleep in the chair. I really like the atmosphere and staff so much that I have been going back ever since. I would also recommend Ashley for a facial. Overall I highly recommend Eclat Salon!
