New Favorite Salon! – I've been going here since this past March. It all started with a deal on a Brazilian blowout, but I've since gone back for color, a trim, and more Brazilian blowouts. Rafael has been my hairdresser each time. He's excellent and he really cares about making my hair look as good as can be. Everyone at the salon is super-nice. The prices are fantastic considering the location. I was almost reluctant to post a review because I don't want the secret to get out!
Awesome staff/salon!! – I found out about this salon through the website Living Social. Even without a coupon the prices are reasonable...I definitely plan on coming back!
Staff is very friendly and cordial and the salon itself has a very nice atmosphere.
The girl who washed my hair ( whose names escapes me) was very sweet and bubbly. She massaged my head in a way that relieved a lot of tension I had!
My hairdresser was Christian...he is awesome! Very warm and friendly guy who told me every step he was taking with my hair to ensure I was okay with it. I enjoyed the conversation we had as well.
I absolutely love the service at this salon and the job Christian did..my hair looks amazing! Highly recommend!!
My haircut made me cry - AVOID POLING – I wanted to give this place zero stars to balance out the incredibly over-the-top reviews, but they wouldn't let me.
This place obviously is good in some regard or it couldn't have gotten such a high rating. But for me, it was an awful experience. The only person who made me feel welcome is the cute, friendly, sparkly blonde who washed my hair.
Poling (NOT Pauline, as one reviewer stated) is a terrible, terrible haircutter. I told her exactly what I wanted. I showed her with my hands. I described with my words. When she repeated back something that sounded unlike what I just described, I corrected her and asked her to clarify and repeat. There must have been a language barrier. Then she started cutting my hair. She chopped off over two inches more than I wanted her to, TWO WEEKS before my brother's wedding. I lost over 8 inches of hair. Hair doesn't grow that fast, Poling!!!
I walked out with a short, blunt haircut, reminiscent of a bowl cut I would have gotten at age 7. There was NO style and NO shape to it AT ALL. Even friends and family agreed I looked awful. I walked in my front door and cried for two hours. I woke up that night in a cold sweat, thinking of all the people I'd have to explain my terrible haircut to - including my brother's bride.
When I called and described my misery to the owner, he was unsympathetic and disengaged. I had to make all of the suggestions. I came in for a consult with Rafael. Neither he nor the owner did anything to make me feel even REMOTELY better... didn't really make any suggestions on how to fix the cut, didn't seem sympathetic to the fact that my hair had been ruined, and I certainly didn't feel confident that he'd be able to do anything more than further destroy it and my self confidence.
I honestly can't figure out how an owner who is so avoidant and meek has started a buiness that's even remotely successful. If you go, for the love of god, don't go to Poling. I got my money back and I'll never go back again.
Fantastic Experience – I found the Heights Salon after a botched haircut somewhere else. That's how I found Leslie, she is cool, and ultra knowledgable and super talented. The salon is clean, relaxing and the service couldn't be better. This is the salon I have imagined for a long time!! Oh and did I say how great Leslie is!!
Leslie is amazing! Great experience. – I went here last weekend after having spent the year that I'd lived in Brooklyn flying back home to get my hair done. I had last been home over Christmas when I impulsively decided to chop my really long hair into a pixie. Naturally, the growing-out process had been hard on me and I had been wearing a head wrap every day for months.
I finally took the plunge and got an appointment with Leslie, who was amazing. She was relaxed and confident and super knowledgeable. She knew exactly what I wanted, and what would work for my straight hair (which can make short cuts hard to deal with...). I was so nervous to go to someone I didn't know, but am so glad I found this place! I'm going back for a color with her in the next couple weeks.
I feel really lucky to have found a great salon and stylist in my first attempt. I'd heard so many horror stories, but this was the best experience I could have possibly expected. The place was beautiful and the service excellent.
Great NAILS, too! – While I haven't yet had my hair done here, I have had some of the best manicures I've ever had! Nelly is a lovely woman who treats you like a guest in her own home. In fact, everyone at the salon is so warm and personal, offering you something to drink and hanging up your coat. The salon is stylish and comfortable and the service has been top notch! While I waited a few minutes to get a mani, Nelly offered me a complimentary paraffin treatment for my hands which left them so soft and smooth. Perfect on a cold winters day! I have only been there about 2 or 3 times since I live in Queens, but her manicures are worth the trip to Brooklyn. They last almost 2 full weeks without needing a touch up!
Check it out! You won't be disappointed!
Amazing service! – I had been thinking of dying my hair for some time but was nervous about how it might turn out. I stumbled into The Heights Salon and immediately knew I could trust my hair to the stylists. I highly recommend Rafael and his magical hair team! And the manicurist gave me a paraffin treatment that left my hands feeling super soft.
The prices are so reasonable for the top notch service. I highly recommend this place!
Thank you soooooo much Rafael!
HIghlights – I'm going to go back and make an appointment with Raphael
Best NATURAL looking highlights ever! – Seems I'm part of a growing club of Blondes who love Rafael! Keeping blonde hair looking vibrant and natural definitely requires skills, and Rafael has got MAD, MAD skills.
When I walked in to the Heights Salon of Brooklyn (a friend who was also blonde referred me), my hair was dry, brittle, and just plain messed up from the last stylist who mangled the so called highlight job. Not only did it not look natural like I asked, but it looked overly bleached and trashy! They started to break shortly after and I needed someone good and someone who knew how to fix it. I was traumatized by the previous experience and was afraid that I was going to have another bad one.
Rafael recommended a few things and some of it I could not understand. But he did partial highlights, did some magic with toner and other stuff I didn't catch to soften the old highlights to make them more warm, and then he recommended the keratin treatment to help restore the shine and make my hair look healthier again.
My hair looked AMAZING. Instead of nasty, bright and trashy looking highlights, I now had the highlights I always wanted -- healthy, warm and natural looking hair. Rafael did his magic and cured my hair. I am so grateful, and now I'm a client for life.
Two other big pluses -- prices are amazing, and the service is A++. Like other reviewers here pointed out, the service is superb, everyone there made you feel welcome from the receptionist to the shampoo person, to the stylist. The atmosphere is warm, and the salon is beautiful. One of the best experiences I've ever had in a salon.
Best Highlights Ever! – If you have blond hair like I do, you know how hard it is to get natural looking highlights without making your hair look dull and lifeless. That being said, I got the most amazing highlights at the Heights Salon a couple of weeks ago by Rafael. I have long, blond hair and I'm really picky and particular about having them look as natural as possible. Not only did they come out natural, but my hair came out shiny and healthier looking than when I got them in other salons. I think it's because of the great products that they use and his technique.
I loved the whole experience. While I was there, I was served wine, and everyone was really friendly and warm. It's great being in a relaxed environment when I have to sit in a place for a couple of hours. I highly recommend this place.
