Citysearch Editorial Review – Discount sushi is something we should all avoid—but inexpensive sushi, well, that's a concept we can really get behind. Enter Octo Sushi, a cheery, not-strictly-Japanese casual eatery that popped up on the Hill. With schoolhouse-esque rows of tables and a big splashy wall painting depicting some of its choicest nibbles, this is the ideal spot for a casual midweek date. At lunch, you’ll find the usual suspects: donburi (various cooked items like teriyaki, served on rice), a variety of warming udon bowls, signature items like the Lady Sweet & Sour (fried fish with tamarind sauce), nigiri, sushi rolls, and a range of veghead-friendly offerings, like the Buddha Bless tofu, stir-fried in ginger sauce. American-inspired sushi rolls, like mango-crab and smoked salmon, will delight even the rare, conservative Capitol Hill resident. Dishes become a little more adventurous in the evening, with prawn and shiso tempura and broiled yellowtail collar surfacing alongside their regular lunch offerings.
