Always crowded, always good – If the business at the Olive Garden in Sugar Land were a measure of the economy, I’d say we’re in pretty good shape. Every time I’ve been there since it’s opened, it’s been packed with people, and today was no exception. “Is it always like this?” I asked the hostess as she was seating us at the table? “Every day, all the time. We are the “it” place in Sugar Land right now, I think.” I took a look around to glimpse at the bustling activity of the hungry patrons, and a wide cross section of suburbia – couples, families, extended families, teenagers, friends – on a Sunday evening all were congregated at the Olive Garden. And it’s no wonder. The service was fast, efficient, cheerful and friendly. Our server didn’t bat an eyelid when we told him we were both having the all you can eat soup and salad, and he somehow always appeared from out of nowhere the minute our plates or bowls were full with a cheerful “would you like more soup?” “would you care for more salad?” “can I refill your tea?” And the food was fresh and tasty. The salad was crisp, the red onions were sweet, the salad dressing that perfect tang. The pasta fagioli soup was hearty and tasty without being too salty. Olive Garden is doing something right, because people are buying, and I’m just happy to join the bandwagon.
