Do You Even Need My Two Cents? – Let me add my voice to the chorus of disappointed would-be clients. I originally booked appointments for myself and my sister (who drove in from out-of-town) at their Heights/TC Jester location on 1/21/12. We arrived at the site to find it closed, empty, and with a "For Rent" sign in the window. I called the booking number and the phone was answered by the owner, who apologized that no one had called me to reschedule. She asked me to call back on Monday to rebook the appts.
After leaving two messages which were not returned, and making many other calls that week only to find that their mailbox was full, I finally succeeded in getting a live person on the line! He rescheduled my appts to 2/18/12, and told me they would email me with the address of the new location. The appt is now 2 days away and I haven't heard from them--I was able to leave 2 messages this week before I once again was met with a full mailbox. Despite my pleas for any sort of call back, just to let me know whether they had a new location (because I had to let my sis know whether or not no bother driving into Houston again), I still have not received a return call.
Definitely not the stress-reducing experience for which I had hoped!
Groupon will give you a refund – I purchased a Groupon for 2 massages and after not being able to make an appointment, and noticing the website listed on the Groupon was not working, I contacted Groupon at the customer service number. They said this company had gone out of business and issued a refund to my credit card with no problems. If anyone else is experiencing the same problem, I suggest calling or emailing Groupon to get a refund.
Webster location? Save your money. – My husband purchased me a Groupon for 2 massages in late 2011. It took several unsuccessful calls to make an appointment for the first massage, and I'm still awaiting their return call so I can schedule the second and final--for me-- appointment. Their website says they aren't making appts for the Webster location online, so you have to call. And call. And call! Over several weeks, I left at least six (6!) messages on an answering machine, which were not returned until I threatened to call the Better Business Bureau to complain! When they finally returned my call, I asked what had taken so long, and a woman told me "the delay was because of the overwhelming response to their Groupon." I had to wait over two weeks until the first appointment was available, and against my better judgment, I went to the appointment on a Saturday morning. When I arrived, the office (El Camino Real & Hercules) appeared to be only temporary. It was hastily set-up in a very quiet business park, devoid of passerby and lacking in seating. When the male masseuse was ready, to my surprise and reluctance, I was led out the office and down the hall, to a room in an otherwise empty building, far and away from other people. He asked me to disrobe to my comfort level, and he left. Comfort?? This was not my first massage; I've been to other professional spas and offices that were run by people who answer the phone and schedule you within a day or two. Although the massage was adequate, I'm very disappointed in the way they run their business. Warning: AAA Wellness HMSCPMF ran another Groupon after my experience, so they should better anticipate the response, and hire someone to book appointments, instead of a machine. As of 1/25/12, my calls are still unanswered and the website won't accept appointments online. I'm very disappointed, but I don't want to give up the 2nd massage I'm owed. After this miserable experience, I'll return to the Texas School of Massage, where the customer grades and assesses therapists after each massage. If I were to grade AAA Wellness/Webster, they'd receive all Fs from me. This deal was great for Groupon, but lousy for AAA Wellness customers. SAVE YOUR MONEY: THE HASSLE IS NOT WORTH ANY PRICE. If I could rate this zero stars, I would, but in order to publish a review, a rating is required.
The worst massage place in town – I want to echo a prior client's comment that it is impossible to talk to a live person to schedule an appointment. I have tried for weeks to get through and now you have to listen to a long sales pitch for their services. AVOIS THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS, even if you can buy massages cheap via Groupon or Living Social.
NEW MANAGEMENT since NOV 6th and MUST TRY – I was skeptical to try this place after reading the reviews but since the last one was Oct 26 and new management took over Nov 6th I thought I would give my groupon a try.
Turns out that this place was GREAT! Petey did my massage and worked out all the knots in my back and was very professional. The staff was also very greeting. It was a little difficult to get them on the phone but other than that it really was a wonderful 1st experience.
If you have any doubts please just give this place a try and ask for Petey. He gave me a hot stone massage instead of my Swedish ( hot stone is more expensive) and didnt make me pay the difference. He also went for a full hour and most places go for 50 minutes,
Give it a shot and you wont be disappointed.
New management; do not recommend. – I've been here before, and looks like new management. The place never was a 'spa'. It was garage sale furniture cobbled together in ick-green walls. When it started earlier in 2011, it was fine enough, as the therapists were great. They are all gone. Petey, Michelle, Matthew, Linda. I bought a Groupon coupon for 2 swedish massages in September, with expiration in Feb 2012.
Getting the appointment was a fiasco for the first massage, and the second massage I walked out. Knowing they were in trouble, I called the day before and day of the massage appointment and kept getting voice mails. When I arrived, I was laughed at for calling so much, but no one called me back, so I still went for the appointment. Sure enough, new therapists and was told "it doesn't matter who does a massage." I said it does, its a personal thing, then was told that she was going to call the police (mind you, I'd already left the premises!) She said I was disturbing the peace. I was told, however, the owners will call me. (I really don't wish to repair or continue any relationship with this establishment.)
I walked out as I was told the Groupon was expired (it is not, that is the Living Social coupons), and they couldn't know as all the patient's folders were gone (with mine and the coupon). She did say that she wouldn't charge me, but I stood up to leave. I'd had been there two other times and it was chaotic and stressful those times, and it was becoming very stressful so I chose to leave.
The reviews online in the past few months are disturbing as well, so I don't find my treatment different from other folks who have taken to the internet about this.
I called Groupon about the voucher, and they sorted it out on my end. I cannot recommend this place to anyone, and I've been there three times!
Skip it. Keep looking – I've been here two times. The first was a 'trial' to see how it goes. I had Matthew, and it went well.
The facility is very scary when you get there. The front room is quite gross, sterile and furnished with Salvation Army finds. Every time I have tried to make an appointment has been a failure.
I then got a Living Social deal for 2 massages, it took 5 phone calls and online to get an appointment. I arrived and was told that Matthew no longer works there, so was handed off to some very non-healthy looking person, and I refused, asking for another therapist who I knew was there from the beginning. They could have called. They could have TOLD me before driving 30 minutes to the location. I was not a NEW customer, mind you, but a second time.
When I made the appointment in early Oct, the only way I could was online, but then you have NO option to change or cancel it. So I called and the lady laughed that I was able to even make the appointment online. If they don't like the process, then stop online appointments, right??
Due to lack of professionalism for the front end staff and the quick turnover of therapists, I am continuing my search for massage therapy.
By the way, Petey no longer is available at the Heights location. They won't tell you this!
Absolutely Disgusted. – After coming here once before and having a decent experience, I paid Living Social for four massages. I attempted to book two of them (for myself and a friend) for SIX weeks straight. In those six weeks, I booked online once, emailed 3 times, called 26 times, and my appointments were rescheduled 3 times by AAA. This is completely unacceptable! Why should anyone need to call more than one time to book something?? The only reason I even kept trying is because Living Social would not do anything to remedy this issue; they said if I'd contacted them before the expiration, that they could have given me a one-time refund. I'd hoped that my continued efforts would pay off, and that I'd get an amazing, relaxing massage. The woman at AAA assured me they'd do something special for us (not the case), and that they'd honor the deals after the expiration (which they did). The booking process is completely ridiculous. The two other people that I gave the deals to also had problems booking. My father had to call three times to book, and was not happy with the quality of the massage. My mother-in-law booked online with no problem, but was not super-happy with the massage. She did book another 2-hour appointment for the following week, however they called to ask if she would be willing to break it up into two appointments, instead. That's not what she wanted. Come to find out, they didn't have anyone willing to work two hours. My own experiences? I was left on hold for 16 minutes during one phone call. I was even asked to go online and book the appointments myself, because the person that's supposed to handle booking couldn't find anything. Seriously? Did she want me to give myself a massage, too? Even when I did that, they booked the appointments at two different locations, then cancelled them because they didn't have the staff available. The staff dillemma was the same reason it was rescheduled the other two times, as well. Why would you book someone when you don't have staff available? We FINALLY got our massages yesterday, and I'm very unsatisfied. It was only so-so, and I expected much more. I should have known to expect it, though, as the woman who left when we came in complained about the quality, as well. I'm completely disgusted that a company can treat people this way and still get business. They won't have mine or any of my friends or family's, now, and I'm hoping this review makes a difference for other people. (I know of a MUCH better place, that's much cheaper. Look up Zenquilatea - get the 'foot reflexology' massage on a Mon, Tue, or Wed and get MUCH more for only $20.)
Not The Best Massage – Just like some of the previous comments concerning this place it was not a very relaxing and pleasant experience. I bought this deal through Voice Daily Deals because like anyone else I love a great deal and I love massages. This place is no where near spa quality. The place was rinky dink, and the rooms were creepy looking. They offered me wine and strawberries upon my arrival, I had to pour my own wine from bottles that were just sitting on the front desk in melted ice bowls, the strawberries were sitting on a tray in front of window with the sun directly on them, needless to say I passed on them. My appointment was at 6:00 however my therapist did not see me until 6:15 and finished my massage at 7:00 even though my massage was suppose to be 60 minutes. The therapist started on my front first which was odd because all the massages I've ever had always started with the back first. She didn't seem very friendly and when she gave me my massage she took the head rest off so my face was laying on the bed. I wouldn't call what I received a massage only someone rubbing oil all over my body. I was not relaxed or satisfied when I left.
I would not recommend this place to anyone and would never go back. The only nice thing about this place was the front staff.
Lack of Professionalism – I wish I could have rated my overall experience with negative stars but unfortunately I was unable to do so. I get massages all the time (primarily at spas and mainstream facilities) so I know a good experience when I see one. This was the absolute WORST experience in which I
