Ageism is a form of racism and your salon practiced it outrageously. As the mature member of a bridal party, I was made to wait 4 hours and then skipped over entirely, at which point you started on other customers who had just arrived. I was even told to leave my chair so that new customers could set together. Only after several trips to the receptionist counter to inquire did someone finally help me. My group had to wait on me after they were all long sense mani - pedi and dry. I couldn't even get color because there was no time left. Very embarrassing, and not how one wants to be made to feel at what was supposed to be a fun event.
This place is getting a one star from me just because the massage therapist and facialist were nice. If it wasn't for that the facility would get no stars, I can not refer to this facility as a spa because the atmosphere was less relaxing then your everyday strip center nail salon. Not to mention I have had far better service at strip center nail salons then I did at Urban Oasis.
My husband booked the spa package for me that was suppose to contain a mani/pedi, 60 minute massage, facial, and lunch.
I arrived 15 minutes prior to my appointment as I was asked to. I was immediately greeted but was then taken to an OVERCROWDED, small room, where my pedicure was suppose to begin. (DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE PICS ONLINE.....THIS PLACE IS SMALL) There was a large party taking place in the room. I am perfectly fine with large parties. I like to have fun with my friends too......but I was expecting to come to a spa and relax......not have a drunk lady in my face talking to me while I STOOD up against a wall waiting for 55 MINUTES for my services to begin. This was not a SPA atmosphere at all. When my mani/pedi finally began, the technician was terrible. I almost jumped every time she clipped my nails because she was taking skin with them. The pedi was mediocre and the mani was terrible. Paint is already chipping 24 hours later and the poor girl couldn't file nails evenly to save her life.
With my package I was suppose to receive lunch. Keep in mind I arrived at 12:45 so you would expect to have lunch sometime soon after that. They could have brought me food while I waited for 55 minutes but instead, they forgot about my lunch and finally at 2:30 asked what I wanted to order. At 2:50 they told me the kitchen was backed up and would I like to cancel my order or take it to go. NEITHER I said, I am hungry and want to eat. So they told me I would eat after my massage......which would be 4:00. I'm sorry, I am not eating lunch at 4:00 when we have 6:45 diner reservations. As it was, they finally brought me my food at 3:00 and told me to "EAT FAST BECAUSE WE NEED TO WISK YOU INTO YOUR MASSAGE." What part of relaxing does this place not understand.
So I crammed my food down. Got a 40 minute massage when my husband paid for a 60 minute. The massage was good and so was the facial, but now the paint on my toes is all messed up because they sent me for a massage with wet paint. I'm not a drinker, but I needed a drink after this place. Aren't SPAS suppose to make you feel quit the opposite?!?!?
The best part is the manger, which I believe was the owner, asked how things were going. When I told her the facial and massage were good but the first 2 hours experience were terrible............her response was, "well I hope the back made up for it." Uh no, this was a terrible, un- relaxing day that we spent a lot of money on.
Needless to say, if my husband had not dropped me off, I would have just walked out.
Do not waste your money here. Spend a little more somewhere else and enjoy your day!
P.S. My big toe hurts today so no telling was that's all about!
"Meh, I've experienced better!" Friendliness from the staff was definitely appreciated, but couldn't compensate for the pricey services and mediocre outcome. I had a mani/pedi, and while the atmosphere is clean and nice, my hole in the wall center does a better, more thorough job than this "day spa". They use many old sticky color, and the vinylx that was supposed to compare to gel in terms of lasting color, was overrated. It's 3 days later, and I have 3 chipped nails. I've been on vacay, not washing dishes or manual labor! I think massages/other services may be worth it, but if you're going for nails--hit up a basic place. Also , it was dead empty for a Friday afternoon, I should have known better.
Thank you so much for everything. The Bridal party was extremely pleased with the services performed. The staff was very kind & considerate & accommodating of the party. I live in NYC but have convinced the Bride (Amy) to come here everytime she needs a service, as she lives in the Houston area. Everything was perfected and chouldn't have asked for a better bachelorette party/ spa treatment.
Thank you for all of your hospitality!
P/S. Kim was awesme :D
The beauty about this place is that they have so many great promos to choose from, they know what you may need so they have so many great suggestions.
Love this cozy, clean spa. Brand new equipment and perfect location. The staff is excellent. Ms. Tran is definitely getting my business from now on!
Great for those working or living in Midtown area.
Best place to get great service and an excellent massage – After doing a whole bunch of research, I choose Urban Oasis Day Spa. This was the best decision I could of made for my birthday service and treatment. Chris works there and did my massage and my back has not felt this good in a long time! Thanks Chris, especially for those glasses of wine I had there. Awesome!!! I will be back. Oh, can forget; I also had the best facial ever, almost felt like I just had Botox...lol, but I did not, however my skin was glowing for my birthday party.
Price was affordable and the location is not too bad once you know where you're going!
Amazing experience with UO – My boyfriend gave me a gift certificate for Urban Oasis massage and facial and OMG it was amazing!!! The staff is extremely kind and soft-spoken. The ambiance was calming and very soothing. I went on a Friday after a long week of work and was so relaxed right when I walked in. The service was PERFECT and I will definitely use their services from now on. Trust me, I've been to many spas around the city and this is by far the best I've been to! So nice to go to a spa in Midtown that has parking, welcoming smiles and an array of services that are affordable even in this economy. Thanks for giving us a break!
Pros: Tranquil environment & easy to get them on my schedule. Flawless services, atmosphere, staff, refreshments
Cons: None yet!
Amazing Lashes <3 – Just received my first lash extension done, and wow, my lashes look amazing. I tried multiple local salons in West U and Bellaire area and I can easily point out several things why Urban Oasis tops them all.
First of all, the styles, there are many different looks available, but only a few suites your eyes and your face best. The technicians here were able to do that. They can point out the strength, length of your natural lash to guild you in lash styles not only for the perfect look but also for your natural lash health. Second, the technicians that perform extensions are certified and on staff, not just any on-call ladies. You also need to watch-out because one of my friend got extension done and the “on-call lady” used super glue for her lashes. I wrote this long review because I am extremely happy with my lash extension. They look gorgeous and very comfortable. The staff was super friendly and the spa itself was clean and relaxing. I can’t disclose my technician name because I <3 that person so much. Highly recommended. :D
I used to live in Houston and usually went to Urban Oasis Day Spa for my waxing services. I was visiting Houston for Christmas. I booked a mani/pedi for my sister and I. Best manicure and pedicure, hands down, that I've had in years. Tram is amazing. My nails looked beautiful and the polish stayed on my hands without a chip for over a week which is very very unusual as I'm on the computer all day long. My pedicure was just the best thing. The salon is very upscale, yet you feel wonderfully comfortable there. Some upscale, high-end salons have the rudest staff, but not at Urban Oasis. Everyone I dealt with was smiling, kind, and accommodating.
My nails ROCKED. It was fresh and new and brightened up my whole look. I love Tran.
