It was your typical autumn rush hour subway ride - people packed into cars like sardines, anxiously awaiting their respective stops. As the train moved slower and slower, I started smiling and saw another friendly person flashing his pearly whites while sipping coffee, too. We started chatting, and I learned that he teaches pilates and was on his way to class. Matthew and I talked the whole trip down to Wall Street, where we both work. It wasn't long after that I began experiencing his awesome classes. As a professional writer, I truly value physically and mentally challenging exercise. Look no further - Matthew Cole's Sculpt New York is your best pilates class option and overall workout. SNY's unique exercise regimen perfectly blends challenging moves with good fun. Matthew continues to introduce me to new drills that stimulate muscles I never even knew I had. His excellent energy and expertise makes you feel incredible after your workout. Let's not forget his gorgeous Wall Street studio. I highly recommend taking Sculpt New York classes. You'll become more fit than you ever imagined.
If you are looking for a challenging, professional, and personable trainer who is going to develop and execute the most personalized workout plans that meet your goals, look no further. Matthew has changed my entire outlook on how to be healthy and working out. I had some very specific needs when I began working with Matthew. I have always had an athletic body type and have tried hard to stay in good shape, mostly by hitting the gym on my own with lots of treadmill running/elliptical and free weight lifting and by eating a healthy diet. For a long period of time, I was an avid runner, not because I truly loved the sport, but because I thought it was the best way to remain in shape and keep my weight in check. Unfortunately, I found that as hard as I was working, I never seemed to be achieving the ultimate results that I wanted, which was a longer, leaner and toned look, as opposed to the stocky, bulky build that I had. I had truly hit the ultimate workout plateau and vowed to myself that I would find someone who could help me rise above my workout challenges. In addition to my fitness goals, 5 months ago, I gave birth to my first child. While pregnant, I remained very active and although I shed the majority of the baby weight within a few weeks of delivering my son, those last few pesky pounds I just could not seem to shed. Enter Matthew into the situation. Within 2 weeks of doing pilates training with Matthew, I not only shed those last few pounds, but dropped below my pre-baby weight. In addition to looking better, I feel infinitely better. With Matthew's training, I have improved my flexibility and range of motion, have achieved a leaner, longer tone to my muscles, have addressed my post-partum body issues, and have learned how to execute efficient and timely workouts on my own so that I can sustain and continue my training at home in between sessions (while caring for my baby). Matthew is a funny, intelligent, and dedicated trainer who is amazing at his craft. He runs his business with the utmost professionalism, catering 100% to his clients. His flexibility and willingness to a accommodate his clients boggles my mind. From his hours of business to his very easy on-line reservation system, he makes it super easy to work out with him. I have even brought my son to my training sessions on a few occasions when I couldn't arrange for a sitter. If you want the best, go to Matthew!
Sculpt New York!!! – had my first intro session with Matthew yesterday and I can't even begin to describe how amazing this session was! I have hired trainers many times before from local gyms & sports clubs but after working with Matthew, I realized that I was not given the proper attention that I needed to target those troublesome areas on my body. As opposed to me praying for a grueling workout session to end, I actually left my work-out session with Matthew wanting more. While training, not only did Matthew instruct me on how to tackle each workout move with precise detail, he explained which muscles were being put to work. He was also able to notice if I was doing the workouts wrong and constantly corrected me on my posture. Matthew was extremely encouraging, knowledgeable and possesses a personality that makes working out so much fun! I look forward to working with Matthew again and I feel very blessed to have finally found a trainer that truly understands what I need and wants me to "Be Hotter Damn It!"
Learn Pilates and Lose Weight – Pilates was a great choice but the best part was meeting Matthew and selecting him to train me. He knows exactly what I need on any given day to make the work-out challenging and do it safely. He combines a variety of exercise tailored to meet my goals. He doesn't rest on last week's accomplishments and makes each workout progress from the last one so over time; I have experienced sucess completing exercises that I was physically unable to complete 6 months ago. He gets results that you can see!! I have lost 7 dress sizes over the last 3 years and plan on losing 1 more! Thanks Matthew!!
Amazing Personal Trainer – Matthew is a great instructor. I wasn't sure what to expect from Pilates when I first started with Matthew, but his expertise quickly showed. I was amazed at how Matthew was able to spot my need to engage the right muscles ( and to catch me when I was cheating or using the wrong ones ) just by his observing the moves. As a guy I had thought that Pilates might not be challenging or "hard core" enough - yoga hadn't really done it for me. With Matthew's Pilates instruction that wasn't the case. Hanging upside down and using the Cadillac apparatus, adding in pull-ups & push-ups, mountain climbers, chair-work, and the you-grow-to-love-it cardio blasts all contributed to an enjoyable and effective instruction. Additionally, even in mixed-skill classes, Matthew threw in upper-body strength modifications for the guys and difficult (but fun) moves like Russian Split on the reformer. Great skill, personality, and instruction!
