St. Jack

It doesn’t get much more Frenchy la la than this achingly cute Clinton Street bistro, with its drippy candles, puff pastry-crowned escargot, and attached patisserie. Passing on the warm mini-madeleines would be up there with your starter marriage in the Biggest Life Mistakes file.

St. Jack

Sweet French eatery with a penchant for foie gras, pigs feet, and killer cocktails. Have barman Kyle Webster whip you up something original with your favorite spirit.

St. Jack

Dining at the bar never felt so atmospheric. Dripping candelabras on the marble bar top created an intimate vibe for a public space. Frog legs, in a creamy caper garlic sauce, were tender and meaty. The James Joyce cocktail, Jamison orange liqueur, carpano sweet vermouth and fresh lime. The food, the drink and the service were exceptional

St. Jack

Rustic French dishes paired with innovative cocktails and a great wine selection. The freshly-baked Madeleines will amaze and delight.

After a funeral, I went for a drive to do some thinking and I ended up in SE. At about 6:00 PM I saw St. Jack, pulled over to park and walked in with no reservation. I was seated at the bar which quickly filled up.

The bartender was helpful and professional. The drinks were good; I had a â??Guillotine,â?? and absinthe concoction worth the trip in and of itself.

To eat, had the marrow bones and the best trout entrée Iâ??ve had in my life. It was cooked to perfection: the perfect mid-point between juicy and firm. It was prepared with lentils, and had a subtle tang to it that contrasted gracefully with the natural oils of the fish. The ambience was intimate with perfect lighting and huge melted candles on the bar. The service was first rate, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Cheered me up a great deal.

Wobbly service, delicious dining. – After we attended a concert, my partner and I went to St. Jack for the first time. It was a half hour before closing time on Saturday, so we got the cliche once over from staff when we asked for a table, likely hindering their immediate after work plans with our late dining. Typically, service improved as our bill climbed and by the end of our meal, service was downright good. Aside from that, the food was very good. The wine list is well considered and the cocktails were perfect. The steak was perfectly cooked and our salad was outstanding. We didn't have dessert, but intend to go back and include that next time. The design and atmosphere is lovely and when I forgot where I was momentarily, it wasn't a tough leap for the room to feel very similar to dining establishments in the Rhone Valley. Rookie service mistakes aside, we will give it another go.
