I met Pam Pritchard three years ago during one of Tipsy Texan's cocktail classes, when she handed me her card with a picture of a black and white tiger on the front. "I'm starting a pub, but one where you order cocktails, not just beer," she explained. Just a few months later, I found it on North Loop: The Tigress, a tiny, best-kept-secret of a bar, where each drink costs $7 and packs a mighty punch (just like, I imagine, how a real tigress might). Try Brown Sugar Snow: Rye whiskey, Averna Amaro, lemon juice, and brown sugar syrup.
Horrible place, the staff is extremely unprofessional and unpleasant. The bartender who reluctantly served me and ultimately asked me to leave prepared a drink that involved rubbing mint in her hands, after touching money, a credit card and running her hands through her hair and scratching her neck prior to making my drink. She was rude, did not greet me, smile or say may I help you. She ultimately threw my credit card at me and threw me out when I asked her about her unprofessional behavior. Furthermore the owner was there with friends drinking and he and his friends pointed and laughed at me while "Julianne" - if that was this disgusting woman's actual name, the most unprofessional and unhygienic service industry person I have ever dealt with was throwing me out. I believe all of this behavior was racially motivated. I will be filing formal complaints. I have called and written to this business and they have not responded. I felt humiliated and degraded by this experience. Do not go to this bar, you will be getting a lot of germs in addition to your drink as they do not wash their hands and if you complain they ask you to leave. Gross.
Such Good Drinks and Food – I'm a sucker for delicious drinks. And tall men. But that's a different story. Except when it's the same. AAAANYway, this is truly the tiniest bar you'll ever go into. The size of an average college dorm room, there are seats for 10 and standing room for about 6 more but their drinks are nothin' but the biggest of booze and the toppest of shelves.
The Moscow Mule is the freshest thing this side of BelAir (sorry Prince!). Spicy, gingery, snap your senses awake and start that night off bright eyed and bushy tailed. Try the French 75 because champagne will never steer you wrong (and depending on how much you have, straight.) The Bees Knees goes down too easily with a touch of honey, lemon and gin.
There are so many more but the point here is that they're all $7. That's right. 12 cocktails at $7 each = making your way through the menu for a total of $84. That's some good math and some good booze.
