Great hotel BUT.. – It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!
BEST SUSHI AT RIGHT PRICE – I love this place and visit them as often as I can. I like Sashimi without the rice and can leave full with a couple of martinis for less than 50. Price Service and Satisfaction is the Blue Fin. What a treat!
Citysearch Editorial Review – This downtown Japanese restaurant is two things at once: official restaurant of chic, hip Hotel Max next door and bustling destination for happy hour sake and creative sushi. Ebony wood trim, giant glowing red lantern fixtures and geometric cutouts are more modern fusion than traditionally Far East--an element reflected in the menu of inventive sushi rolls (the signature one: pineapple, shrimp, crab, jalapeno and goat cheese) and other Japanese delicacies. Entree portions are large, but small plates are the way to go, as this swanky spot is best suited for dinner dates and group dining; not at all your typical hotel restaurant.
Cozy, classy bar and restaurant – Both the size and the decor of this hip downtown restaurant/bar encourage you to relax into the warm, welcoming atmosphere. I visited for happy hour and didn't stay for dinner. The happy hour bites, however were excellent and probably a good indication of the overall taste and quality of the food. The sushi was fresh, delicious and creatively rendered. The sliced steak appetizer was tender and perfectly cooked, and the tempura veggies were tasty, crispy and not at all greasy. I highly recommend this cozy spot for happy hour and can't wait to try it for dinner as well - perhaps this summer when they'll offer al fresco dining!
Service With a Smile – I have been to Red Fin multiple times and plan on returning! The menu is a bit on the pricey side but fear not! You don't have to splurge to enjoy their fare, they offer daily happy hour that will fit any budget with both drink and sushi specials.
Aside from the food, the customer service is beyond amazing. This place has a swanky feel without the snobby attitude.
New place for Sushi! – I went to Red Fin for the first time the other day during happy hour. Walking in, I noticed it was what I thought it would be, cozy, relaxing place where people were conversing with friends and having a few drinks to forget the days worries.
The actual bar area is kind of small, but people were very friendly and moved aside if they saw you needed to reach the bartender.
The service was on top of everything! Reloading our orders and making sure no one was with out food. Oh, and did I mention it was my first REAL sushi experience? My husband and I loved it all, and I think he ended up eating a whole plate of tuna rolls to himself!
Overall, a great meeting place for friends, wonderful restaurant to visit for you first time sushi eaters and it happens to be located at the Hotel Max, which if you ask politely, might give you a tour of some of their rooms.
Wayyyy too crowded! – When I walked into Red Fin, my first thoughts were "Wow, this is a super cute bar". But then having to struggle my way through the crowds to get to my friend, I soon became annoyed. I felt like the entire time I was there I was stepping on people's toes, bumping into people, and that no matter what I did I seemed to be jostling into someone or them jostling into me. When anyone at our table moved, so did the entire table along with our beers & sakes!
I did think the food was sooo yummy and tried various appetizers which all seemed scrumptious. However, later on I got an upset stomache from something I ate.
The staff seemed very nice, and I liked the bathrooms which have portraits of some people, although we were trying to figure out who they were.
Although like i said the food was good, I am not sure if I would go back again...
Good place to get a drink downtown – This swanky bar/restraurant attached to the equally remarkable Hotel Max is a great place to get together with friends located in downtown seattle. They have an amazing happy hour which includes a variety of beer, wine, sake, etc and some asian small bites as well. Happy hour might be the best time to eat here if you are on a budget as the dinners can be pricey, but food is good so it might be worth the $. The beer list often seems to include some unusual beers which is a bonus. This place can be pretty crowded though so it might a good place to go with a small group or if you are lucky enough to go in the summer to sit outside and people watch. I love the decorations on the bathroom doors.
Fantastically fresh sushi – I travel a lot with my job and am always trying sushi in various places. I tried Red Fin after reading a few reviews here and It was the right decision. I started with the shitake mushroom dumplings which were wonderful; the sauce was awesome. I tried the chef's choice sushi tray and was impressed by the variety that was provided. Usually if you do this, you just get some tuna and mackeral and maybe a shrimp. This tray had a dozen different types of seafood, and it all just melted in your mouth. It was outstanding. I also had my usual order of uni which was also incredibly fresh. I will definitely go back. Oh, and the sake it great as well. Try the Red Fin sampler.
Great food and service, not on hot days – I've been going to Red Fin now for half a year, mostly in the winter. Now that summer is upon us however, i find I can't even sit in the bar or restaurant for more than 10 minutes without starting to perspire. I love the place, the food is great, presentation unbelievable, the entire staff is so friendly and helpful, but seriously, turn up the A/C, it's like dining in a boiler room on hot days.
