Let me start off by saying I LOVE SWEET T SALON! When I moved to Raleigh from South Carolina- I realized I needed to find a new stylist. I made a HUGE mistake by buying a groupon deal for cut/color/highlights for a local Raleigh Salon. I'm not naming any names, but this salon messed by hair up so bad! I should have known better, when my sytlist didn't have any blonde at the salon, and was explaning to the other sytlist how to mix the color. Long story short, I ended up with a dark brown hair color with muddy brown/orange highlights. I was so upset, and embarrased to even go to another salon.
When I walked into Sweet T to see if they could help, I immediately loved it! The owner Nancy is great, and she really listens to what each client wants. Everyone was so friendly. One of the biggest reasons Sweet T because of their Oil-Based Blonding system. My stylist, Gloria, made me love my hair again! I knew my mistake would be costly for another salon to fix, but I would pay it again to get the same results Gloria gave me. I can't stress enough how much better my hair looks- and I have been given so many compliments at work. My hair is now so soft and the color is amazing. If you are looking for real "color experts" take my advice and contact Sweet T!
I came here about 3 times for a cut and partial highlights. The first time I went there I went with a groupon for the highlights. It was the first time I ever had them but had been wanting them for awhile. While there, another employee made a comment to me that I should consider getting my eyebrows waxed. I was a little taken aback. I'm not sure why I agreed to it, but I let them do it. The same employee asked me why I was getting the first time highlights and waxing my eyebrows: did I just break up with my boyfriend, did I get a new job, etc. I was very offended, as he made it sound like I was some frumpy chick who doesn't take care of herself.
My stylist seemed rather inexperienced and had to ask some questions about mixing the color. Ultimately the highlights were too chunky and light, no where near as natural as I had asked for. I also wasn't thrilled with the cut. I'm not sure why, but I came back a few months later to get it all done again and still wasn't super happy with the results. Before my third trip, I called and talked to the owner, Nancy, and asked if getting lowlights put in also would help the problem. Her response was that maybe, but it will cost you extra. Since the cut and highlights was already costing me an arm and a leg, I wasn't about to pay more for some lowlights. So for a third time, I got just highlights and was unhappy. I was fed up and have never been back. I have found a new salon, an AWESOME hair stylist who can give me highlights that look natural, and who every few times will also put in some low-lights to prevent my head from getting too light all around. And guess what? I don't get charged extra. And my total bill is less than what I paid here at Sweet T . I've been going for over a year to the new salon and my hair is still as soft as ever, so I'm not getting cheap quality highlights that are ruining my hair; they just know how to run a business better and keep their customers.
Maybe if the owner was less focused on being Miss Entrepreneur/ Beauty Pageant Queen, and trying to constantly expand her salon's "product line" she would be able to keep her current customers happy. They flaunt that they have the only oil-based highlights in the area and that it's soooo good for your hair. What does that matter if you don't apply them the way your customer requests?
Just left the salon today and I am very happy about my highlights I received once again! I got the oil-based highlights part of their Scruples blonding system. It is the perfect match and not brassy at all. I've been receiving these highlights from Melinda for the past 8 months every two months. The color really lasts and never turns brassy like everything I've used in the past. The price is unbeatable for these oil-based highlights and I always get my money's worth. Melinda is very sweet and attentive and sure gives one heck of a massage while shampooing.
Everyone is so kind and helpful, it's a very welcoming salon!
I'd give 5 stars but I just got my cut yesterday and it takes a couple days to be sure if I like the outcome. But Nancy and Amy were really nice and gave me really special treatment for a really good price. I didn't get any color or special style, just a trim with a conditioning treatment (on special). Customer service and price are really important to me since all I usually want is a little off the ends.
Nancy (owner) is a go-getter and wants the business to succeed by focusing on what people really want and being open to all people in Raleigh. The salon is easy to get to, it's definitely worth a try if you're looking for a place.
Oil-based highlights do not cause breakage, turn brassy, or dry the hair. Try some at Sweet T today!
I love Nancy and Wendy – My husband and I both go to Nancy to get our haircut. We live in Durham, but make the trip down to Raleigh to Sweet T because Nancy does such a great job. I don't think that I have ever had a better cut. I had been trying to grow my hair out for years and my hair really did not start growing until I started getting my haircut from Nancy. Plus, everyone always complemented my haircuts.
Also, I love getting my nails done by Nancy and I have had loads of compliments from people on my nails that get their nails done elsewhere. They have said that my nails look better and more natural than theirs. Also, since going to Wendy, this is the first time that I have not had chipped nails or wearing at the tip of the nails since I am on the computer all day long.
I would and do highly recommend this salon.
Thank you so much for your sweet review. We really appreciate it. We are so happy with how long and healthy your hair is now! Yay! Thank you for allowing us to serve your family. See you soon! xoxo
Don't bother, just a lot of talk – I was really excited to try out this new salon as they really seemed to pride themselves on their blonding system. Needless to say I was not impressed with how my color turned out. It wasn't terrible, but I didn't love it and it wasn't worth the price tag.The high lights were not well done and my color looked grown out less than a week after it was done. I even had my color root re done, only to be dissapointed yet again when they only tried to cover up the problem by putting a couple more foils near where I parted my hair, when really they should have re-done my whole head. Yes the staff was friendly, but I ended up paying $180 for my service and now 3 weeks later I already need to have my hair done again. It shouldn't take a salon 3 tries in order to produce me with a finished product I like. The salon really tried to sell their product and brag about being raleigh's best kept secret..not so much. I was told that with their new blonding product I wouldn't need to use purple toning shampoo because their forulma was just " so great". When I had called back and complained that I was already going brassy Nancy put the blame on me for not using purple shampoo. I also wish that the person that did my hair would have noticed thefirst time around that his work was not done well and would have spoken up, rather than me having to call back and complain. and take even more time to go back and have it re done.I will not be going back here and would advise others not to as well.
We were happy that you were happy with how healthy & blonde your hair was & understood that you wanted more foils. We strive to make our clients happy. The purple shampoo was a professional suggestion & not a blame. Prior to trying our oil-based blonding, we noticed brassy strands & wanted to advise on the best products. We've been accommodating by moving other?s appts. to give you highlights that you'd love, but you did not show. We know that we can do a good job & hope to serve you again.
Amazing Salon – Such a great salon!! Nancy, Wendy, and the rest of the staff are so friendly. I have very processed hair that used to be damaged but after having Nancy do my highlights it feels amazing. I used to get the Brazilian straightening treatment at other salons for 300+ dollars but I don't need to do it any more thanks to the conditioning highlighting product they use at this salon. Also, my nails have never looked better...they are actually growing thanks to Wendy :)
Yay! Thank you. We are going to miss you when you move to the West Coast (California). Always know that you can always make yourself at home here. :) Enjoy your oil-based highlights!
Great place for a haircut – Was there last week & Rosa did exactly as I asked - it's so nice when people listen & provide great customer service! A very nice & professional staff - definitely going back!
Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your thoughts! We really appreciate it. Listening to our guests is very important to us and we are happy that you are happy with your haircut.
Great Salon, Great Staff – I have been to this salon many times within the past you walk in and you feel so welcome there! Everyone is so pleasant and helpful and really make your experience there awesome. Melinda has been highlighting my hair and there color system is amazing and my hair looks so good afterwards! I would definitely recommend trying this place out!
We love Melinda too! Thanks for trying out our oil-based highlights. And thank you for a kind review. xo.
