Reviews for Tavernita

Tavernita is a rare breed - a restaurant where you won't be able to hear yourself think and you won't be able to stop eating. Rather than relying on the hot, trendy scene, Chef Ryan Poli has created a Spanish menu that can stand on its own. Snack on suckling pig confit, grilled octopus with fennel or corn pudding with shrimp. Wash it down with unique kegged cocktails, vermouth on tap and four different kinds of home-made sodas. Tavernita may require ear plugs, but it'll be worth it.

Not the choice for a quiet date night, but a solid pick for a scene-y River North outing. Try the fruity Bootsy Collins cocktail.

You may not be able to hear yourself think, but the food and cocktails (by the Tippling Bros) make it all worth it.

Head into Barcito, the front bar, for all you can eat pinxtos every other Monday for $20.

Crazy Scene, Better Food – The scene is nuts here, but at least it's lively. Chef Poli's a top chef - standouts are pork belly bocadillos (little brioche bundles of Joy), Greg's meatballs (to share) and creamy filled, piping hot croquettes. Wash it down with the spicy/not too sweet Turista kegged cocktail.

Pork Belly Bocadillos w/ apple jam? Yes, please. If the scenesters annoy, tune 'em out w/ the sublime & spicy One-thumb Gypsy cocktail.
