Dishonest and didn't fix my A/C problem.
I used Airtron for a system check up and tune up in January for a new rental property I purchased. Fair price. All went well. This A/C unit is approx 14 years old.
When the unit quit working in August on a Sunday morning, I called them for the repair. Sunday service call charge was very reasonable, only $89. Tech was prompt and friendly. Technician replaced the dual capacitor for $293 (that included the $89 service call). Problem still not resolved. While continuing to diagnose the problem, the transformer on the inside unit fried. Tech replaced the transformer for $373. However problem still not solved. The Tech determined I needed a new Fan control board however, he did not have the part and had no knowledge of cost to replace. He said he would contact the parts department and have them call me that day. He left as there was nothing else he could do.
No call from Airtron sunday afternoon.
Monday morning I call Airtron. They send a SALESMAN out monday afternoon. Day 2 and A/C still not working. Salesman informs me that the fan control board will cost $750 or I can replace the whole unit.
He reports he doesn't even know if he can get the part or when. I asked why he didn't know if he could get the part when a tech was out yesterday and he should already know the part number etc and have the part ordered??!! Well the tech didn't provide the information to get the part. The salesman leaves to go find out how long it will take to get the fan control board.
5 minutes after his departure, I find the part all over the internet using only my smart phone. I find the part for $119. I immediately call a local supply company and order the part myself. Cost $167, it will take 3 days to arrive. The supply/parts vendor also tells me it is an EASY part to install. I can do it myself. Unplug the old, plug in the new. I even find videos on youtube demonstrating the installation!!
The Airtron salesman calls me back about 1 hour later. He can get me the part in 3 days(just like I have already done) HOWEVER, he can offer me a temporary fix to get some cool air in the house. (remember it is August)
He says he can send a tech out to BYPASS THE CONTROL BOARD to get cool air until the part arrives.
WTF?? Then why didn't the tech on Sunday do the bypass?? Why didn't YOU do the bypass when you were at the house telling me I had to pay $750???
I asked him if they would just do the bypass and be done and I would take care of the continued repair. Naturally, he says he can't do that. I tell him I have already found the part myself and I am not willing to pay him $750 to install it.
I'm over $660 and 2 days into this with Airtron and the A/C still doesn't work!
Tuesday morning after much research and telephone calls, I find a reasonable and honest repair service tech that is willing to help me. He comes to the home on Tuesday and within 10 MINUTES armed with nothing but a volt meter, he finds a short in the outside junction box. A junction box that the Airtron tech didn't even open. The new tech repairs the short, problem solved! Cost $70. I cancelled the order for the fan control board that I didn't need.
Shame on you Airtron.
Customer satisfaction is not Airtrons priority, – I had the misfortune of getting involved with this company because my builder used them for his homes. They will not give you what you want, only what they think you need. Airtron installed too small a unit in our home and refused to replace it. Airtron used the excuse that our home was foam insulated and the humidity levels would get too high with a larger unit, So in Airtrons opinion if you have a foam house you cant have a cool house! I have spoken with several other companies that have said we were undersized and there are many ways to control the humidity and still give you the cooling you want, Airtron is a company that believes it is our way or the highway, what the customer wants does not matter!
Great experience – I was surprised to read the not so good reviews on here, as I used Airtron this week and had a really good experience. First of all, they answered the phone at 8 am and were very friendly, helpful and accomodating. They had someone out by 10 am, he had the problem fixed by 11 am. The technician was patient with my questions and explained everything very well. The price seemed reasonable. I am very satisfied! Will definitely use in the future.
terrible service – I wish I could rate them zero!! After spending 2 days home from work waiting on these jerks (they DO NOT show up when they say they will), we are 11 hours into a service visit and they still have not completed the work. We talked to multiple people, supervisor (Javier, Gabe, etc) when they did the initial "service" visit. They were supposed to fix the problem today by installing a new unit. So, the first guy who comes this morning doesn't even know the problem or what unit is supposed to be replaced. He made some phone calls to find out what he was supposed to be doing.
Finally, some other people show up and worked in an unorganized fashion for 8 hours. Then the crew rushed off for another job, leaving our job unfinished with the new guy who doesn't know anything!! He is reading the instruction book. He just came to tell us that there is a problem with the new unit, and we are going to have to wait for the senior tech to come back to see what is wrong. They came at 9am this morning and it is 8pm now. The house is still hot.
For their first service visit to find out what is wrong, they said they would come in the morning, "no later than noon." They showed up at 3:30pm, after multiple phone calls.
Unfortunately we made the mistake of going with the guys for a new unit.
Don't make the same mistake. Find an alternative. I can't believe they are endorsed on Annie's List. They must have PAID Annie's List to get this listing.
stood up again! – Our builder used Airtron for our heating and cooling units. When they both had to be replaced within the warranty period we decided to purchase their extended warranty and maintenance plan. I have once again waited on two separate days for the tech to show without so much as a call to say they weren't coming. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told he would call me. No call but the next day a technician came out *unscheduled* while I was at work and my teenage daughter was home alone!!
This company has no idea what customer service or even common courtesy is!! Take your time and money somewhere else!
Two no show appoints – So far I have had two appointments with Airtron. I have missed work, and been held hosage at my home waiting for these guys to arrive for my scheduled appointment. My advice, go somewhere else. I am still waiting for them as we speak. My appointment today was from 8-12 am today and it is 1:30. I have called them twice with no courtesy call from Airtron. All I get is excuses, promises, and no results.
