Reviews for The Optimist

According to there are 45 benefits to being an optimist: among them, that it promotes happiness and healthy living. We’re pleased to say The Optimist, the new, smartly designed, fish restaurant from Chef Ford Fry of JCT Kitchen and No. 246 generates a similar effect, thanks to its scrumptious sea food offerings. Ford Fry is a wizard with ocean dwellers of all kinds, from his swordfish poached in duck fat to the smoked haddock chowder and Maine lobster roll.

Ford Fry's first seafood restaurant might have easily gone awry; Atlanta is not a seafood town, and the chef made his mark mostly with meat. But The Optimist is a triumph: original, exciting, and somehow exactly what the city needed.

The Optimist

Reservations are hard to come by but there's usually room at the front oyster bar. it has a limited menu, but everything on it is delicious.

The Optimist

There's a reason why Fry's newest restaurant has been named Esquire's Best New Restaurant of the Year-with their lush interior, extensive seafood menu and open oyster bar, you'll forget us Atlantans were ever landlocked to begin with. The maine lobster roll, swordfish and any of Chef Taria's desserts are a winner here.

The Optimist

The Optimist is hot, with national acclaim and a chef that keeps adding onto his empire. The menu changes often and although seafood is definitely the main draw, beef, pork & chicken make regular appearances on the menu. Don't miss Chef Taria's creative desserts & the stellar cocktails.
