What you'll find at Ciao Mambo are a dimly lit, comfortable dining area, good pizza and super garlicky, hot, fresh bread. The pasta dishes sounded intriguing but we didn't order any. I'd say this is a 3.5 star place from my initial visit.
The pizzas were tasty and seemed like a much better value compared to the pastas, which go for nearly the same price. For 5 adults, we got 2 large pizzas and had a few leftover pieces, so the large pizzas are good for 3 people.
Wine selection is pretty interesting and has a decent sized list of Italians and wines from the US and other areas.
The complementary garlic bread alone might be the best meal you have ever had. GREAT food, wine, service. This place has it all and is fairly priced for quality and quantity. Why aren't you on your way??
Great food, never disappointed. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. While we were waiting, they brought out free pizza slices....delicious! Once seated, the waitress brought pizza dough for our kids to play with. They were perfectly entertained until our dinners arrived.
Our first night in Missoula and how fortunate to have found this place. Great atmosphere. Busy on a Friday night but were seated within 10 minutes at around 6/6:30. The egg drop soup with tortellini, 4-cheese ravioli, the pasta with chicken tossed in a rose sauce, the spinach salad were all fantastic. The warm bread served before the meal was yummy. Highly recommend Ciao Mambo for great Italian.
Have been to Ciao Mambo several times, both for lunch and for dinner. In the evenings, there is almost always a line to get in. Food is very good, service is excellent
Pretty pricy but love the place! The meals I've tried there have all been great but I LOVE pasta so I might be biased! Good place for couples especially.
dropped into this restaurant during a very busy Sunday early evening. (They were holding a concert in the adjacent park). I was solo and asked the hostess for a table. She easily complied in a gracious manner. My water glass was filled as I sat down. And the waitress instantly appeared. I asked her which was their signature dish. She pointed out the Pasta Ravenna, which I ordered with a dinner salad. WOW! The pasta was served in a cavernous bowl. It had plenty of chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and luscious artichoke hearts to accompany the bow tie pasta, mushrooms and a delicious sauce
They were really busy (even on a Monday night), but we were seated right away. Service was quick, the server was really nice and efficient, our food was hot and delicious, and we have absolutely no complaints. I liked the decor-it was Montana with a "collegiate" vibe (University of Montana is in Missoula, and all the servers looked like college girls (either that or women in Montana just age really well), so maybe that had something to do with it.) Totally recommend this restaurant-would definitely eat here again if we're back in Missoula!
We always have good service at this restaurant. They are very friendly and the food is wonderful. The wine selection good. I love the atmosphere. Great for bringing in kids or for date night.
We went twice, within 15 days! Food is always excellent, the service is incredible!
