Great food, lousy delivery time – I was so frustrated with Amy's last night that I joined Citysearch today specifically to write this review.
We've been ordering from Amy's for a few years now. The food is always good and always arrives hot. The steamed pork dumplings are light and not the least bit glutinous as many dumplings elsewhere seem to be.
We've mostly ordered the happy family dish (mix of meat, seafood, veggies) with brown rice and it never disappoints.
Unfortunately, the single downfall of receiving this amazing food is the ridiculously LONG delivery times. We've come to expect the standard 45+ minutes from Amy's, but last night, it took 90 MINUTES to arrive!! To me, this is completely unacceptable for delivery anywhere in town. I called after an hour and was told the delivery had just left. I called after 75 minutes to find out how long it normally takes to get from their place to ours (about 17 blocks). "Depends on traffic" was the response. I called again at 90 minutes and said to cancel the order, as we'd already eaten dinner by this point. Of course, as soon as I hung up, the delivery arrived. Perfect for the next night's dinner.
It's a shame that this wonderful food normally takes SO long to arrive - it will certainly thwart our desire to order again. Or, we'll simply call before we leave our offices so that by the time we arrive home, it may arrive within 15-30 minutes. Our commute is 45-60 minutes.
Order from here for the wonderful food, but be aware you may wait a VERY long time. Make appetizers!
The Best Pork Fried Rice in ALL of Manhattan – This is not your regular take-out Chinese place. Most of the Chinese food places have the same menu items and even taste almost exactly the same. But not Amy's. This is an actual restaurant. The food is excellent and the variety is better than any other in the Washington Heights/Inwood area. They have Malaysian dishes and a sprinkling of Japanese and Thai dishes, too. Try everything.
