UPDATE: New and Improved -- Back on our Recommended List! Seafood is their Speciality. – UPDATE (10/20/07):

Based on other reviewers, my wife's 'nudging' and for old-times sake, we gave it a new second-chance following their remodeling. Glad we did. It was once again back on top of its game -- a great place for Chinese Seafood. Tried a wonderful Squid in XO Sauce -- huge plate of baby squid with lots of wonderful sauce. Also, had delicious Salt & Pepper Prawns; and, a Fish Casserole. Finally, we had one of our old favorites -- their Giant Oysters steamed in Black Bean Sauce -- yummy. Happy to say, it's now back on our Recommended List, and WE will be back soon.

ORIGINAL REVIEW - 2 Stars (1/2007): This USED to be our favorite restaurant in China Town. In fact, we were probably one of the original "caucasions" (non-Chinese) to eat at the restaurant when it first opened up many years ago. Always loved the seafood, especially the combo dinners, when it used to include whole lobster, and a shrimp & scallop dish. No longer. Unfortunately, it has gone downhill in recent times. Food no longer seems as fresh, authentic or special. Probably won't go back.

Money-Hungry Manager Ruins Good Restaurant Again – Details our 2nd dining experience: Ordered soft-shell crab $12.95 for 3, seafood hotpot & seasonal veges stirfried w/ fish slices (tasted like basa). Again, rec'd complimentary soup & dessert soup. In order to avoid the "creative editting" of our tip amount by the manager, we elected to pay the tip by cash this time. This time the manager kept coming back to take our CC receipt & cash tip, despite the fact that we were still eating. She actually attempted to reach over the whole table while we were still dining. We had to tell her to come back, when we were done eating. I guess she wanted to "count" her earnings first. This place needs to learn a lesson in serving etiquette. I don't know if Chinatown experiences many "walk-outs" or people not paying their tab, but these excessive "accounting" practices by the owner ruins an otherwise good restaurant.
