Love this salon! It's conveniently located downtown in Cummins Station. The Owner and staff are very talented and personable. I personally recommend Jennifer Young so give her a call and book your next appointment.
Nope... – Wife went to Vanity yesterday (a Saturday) as a walk-in, giving them a try. Was told to come back in 30-45 minutes, which she did. Was told that they were running a special: free cut with color. Said okay. Got a cut, but there wasn't time for color. Wife was told to come back at 1:30 on Sunday for the color. Wife said okay, went ahead and paid for the cut ($50 + tip), which would then be deducted from the price of the color on Sunday. Asked twice during the cut how much the color would be; didn't get a straight answer. Went back at 1:30 today for the color. Was told it's $85, but "your hair is long and thick, so it's an extra $25 for you." I.e., the color alone = $110. Wife was also told she'd be receiving a protein treatment, and the many benefits were explained. "How much is that?" "An extra $50, but it's totally worth it." So, we're looking at $160 (before deduction of $50). Then, launches into a speech about how the color can't be guaranteed if products "from the store" (e.g., Pantene) are used. I.e., get ready to buy some expensive hair products from me on your way out, probably for an extra $30-50... When my wife mentioned that she hadn't expected to encounter an extra $100+ in fees on her return visit, it was implied that she should feel guilty because the employee had "commuted in just for you." No mention yesterday that Sunday was by appointment only; my wife had asked when they opened on Sunday, and she was told 1:30. When my wife explained that we simply didn't have that kind of expenditure in the budget right now, but that she could save up and come back, she was told, "Well, we all have bills." Finally, the lady complained that she had made plans to go hiking, but that because she had come into work, she'd had to change all her plans. This might be a sympathetic point, if the lady hadn't kept it all to herself and played it off like my wife just needed to return the next day. I must say, the cut is decent. Not great, but decent. But the attitude isn't worth it. Neither are the "gotcha" fees that come out of left field, or the condescending presumptions about the quality of my wife's hair products (which, as I have purchased them for her before, I can assure you are nowhere near as cheap as Pantene...). Maybe your experience would be better, but maybe you should try another place first.
