Tips for Leland's Restaurant

Good Restaurant for Romance & Families. I give Leland's a 4 star because the past several times I have had to return food back to chef because of my dairy allergy issues. I make it clear to the wait staff upon ordering, but some how it doesn't get done. So I am waiting for my food to come out right while everyone else is eating theirs.

The food is good. Their seafood is fresh. My husband enjoys their soups before dinner rather than a salad. The atmosphere is pleasant and they've just added a wonderful piano player for background music. We are a regular to the restaurant for the good food.

Great place for Seafood. My wife and I just enjoyed our first experience at Leland's. She had the poached salmon which was incredibly tender, noticeably fresh, and probably the most flavorful piece of fish I have ever had. I chose the lobster special. They were featuring 1.5 pound lobsters for $27 (what a deal!). The lobster....AMAZING! Our waiter told us their crab cakes had won an award in hamilton county, so we gave them a try. They too were outstanding.

We generally choose the Oceanaire or Ruth's for a nice meal, however for the money, you can't beat Leland's restaurant in Carmel.

Not impressed. My wife and I went here for our anniversary this year. We heard it was a family owned restaraunt run by some New Englanders who specialized in seafood. So, to cut to the chase.....New England clam chowder was the best part of the meal. Shrimp cocktail was good in the sense the shrimp were large and tasted good, but the cocktail sauce was nothing special ($11.95...5 big shrimp). Ceasar salad was really lack luster and the spiniach salad was fine. I had a 12oz ribeye steak that was cooked well, but very thin (maybe 1/2 inch). It was not seared outside and looked kind of grey, but tasted pretty good ($22.95). The biggest disappointment was my wife's scallops. There were seven scallops and she only ate 4. She had to remove out of her mouth a rubbery piece on each one. Way over cooked, and the flavor was not very good. She left 3 on the plate of which I decided to eat one right before we left the table. Big mistake, as I left the restaraunt with a less than desirable taste in my mouth ($22.95). She had 2 drinks and I had one, and we can both think of a better way to spend $100 dollars.
