Weekender Guide to The Heights: If the free wifi and relaxed atmosphere of this converted bungalow didn't win you over, the live music and gallery nights will

Waldo's Coffee House closed in 2013. Many of us locals have dearly missed the quaint atmosphere Waldo's had to offer, not to mention the great coffee, tasty desserts, and panini's! But not to worry much longer! The new and improved coffee house is reopening January 2014 as Boulevard Coffee Company. We're hearing more food selections will be offered, along with the same great coffee! Can hardly wait, as this little place is within walking distance of our home!

All around great place – What a great experience all around! I came by on a Thursday evening and stayed for a couple of hours. I tried the Mocha Valencia and was greatly pleased. Very tasty. I hadn't tried a coffee with a citrus taste to it. Refreshing. Waldo's has a great little atmosphere conducive to relaxing and browsing the internet (free wi-fi), reading, or just chatting with friends. Local art is displayed on the walls and the service is friendly. I think what I loved the best was that the night I was there was an open mic night (Thursday's.) A handful of singer's performed and one poet/writer. All were very talented. My favorite was singer Clory Martin. Lovely voice.

Citysearch Editorial Review – This family-owned and -operated coffeehouse occupies a converted historic Heights bungalow with a front porch overlooking the scenic Paul Carr Jogging Trail, and its warm old-fashioned atmosphere attracts the city’s studious and artsy. In several large rooms, enormous tables support laptops and study groups at a low noise level, in keeping with the grandma’s-house feel evoked by the 1920s décor. Local art decks the walls and Houston musicians perform on Friday and Saturday nights. Enjoy organic free-trade coffee from Katz’s, fat brownies, breakfast croissants and kolaches and a selection of teas. BYOB for five bucks a head.
