Fool's Gold – Lived here 2+ yrs so here it goes.
Poor- For a apartment building that takes in an annual 24,000 out of your pocket for a 4bedroom 4 bath, the service is just around a motel 6, depressing and they'll try to bill you for the smallest things like patio furniture, and biggest like animals for 500 (with a 5 day immediate payment rule)
But when it comes down to PROTECTING its tenants it does virtually nothing, they promise and bulls*** you that they'll take measurements but a yr or two down the rd and nothings changed. Oyeah and if your car is broken into or tires stolen they wont be liable for that either. I was witness to a mugging last week and they still havent put sufficient lighting in the parking lots.
If anything i feel as if they owe me a reimbursement, its shi*** to see a place with potential but is torn by horrible management practices. Sure their numbers might fight right when they're punching in numbers at the end of the month, but i am definitely not living here anymore
STAY AWAY!!!! – Honestly one of the worst student apartments San Antonio and UTSA has to offer! Lets start with the actual apartments; they're small as can be and im honestly surprised they fit a full size bed in them. They're walls are paper thin i could hear anything from my roommates talking to their friends in the other room to people yelling and partying outside. Also parking is HORRIBLE!! and don't think i'm talking about vistor parking (which is 100yards up the hill from residents apartments) no i mean resident parking, everything is so compact even for a small car or truck. Ever since i moved there my car and almost every residents car has been keyed, dented, egged and scratched and this is even with a covered spot they sell you for $30/ mo which actually doesn't give you any protection, the only benefit of that is that you are guaranteed a parking spot. My roommates have often had to park as far as 4 or 5 bldings over because there aren't any spots. Security is is useless 3 cars have been stolen and 4 have been put on bricks where they steal the rims off the cars, all this in the past 4 months. Also there's tons of drug activity there about 5 months ago residents got caught with marijuana plants in there apartment and my friend knew them well tell me why in the world do they still live there and didn't get evicted!?! Then about two months later people get robbed at gun point in another apartment. ITS PLAIN RIDICULOUS!!! Why won't the manager do anything!?! Shes this little blonde lady who never comes out of her office and when we asked why she wouldnt do anything her response was "not my problem call the cops" WOW everyone else in the office seems to know what they're doing and are very sympathetic and nice (probably because they can relate because they also live there) but she is the only one who is unhelpful and a complete B*$%. I've even heard that shes asked her employees and friends to write nice things about the place because it has so many negative reviews online and she'll give them a gift card or something. Well I won't stand for it. That is the worst business ethics ive ever heard. Obviously that women is unqualified and has probably never taken a business course in her life! The truth needs to be told and unless things change your best bet is to STAY AWAY and spend your money else where.
Cant believe I was ignorant enough to stay – HORRIBLE apartments, they are all nice to your face they tell you things you want to hear then when it comes time for their part they screw you over. Word of advice if you sign here, 1. get a copy of the contract for yourself, 2. read everything cause all your information about how the office really runs is in there, 3. earplugs are a must. I lived here for a year honestly I never thought I'd run into worst luck than living at The Reserve on Babcock, but after living here I'd move back in a heartbeat, The Reserve had bigger rooms, was a gated community where it was a pain to get in and out if you didn't live there, High View rooms are so tiny fitting a tv in the room is already a difficult task, their little speakers from room to room get extremely annoying when your trying to study and your roommate is having fun outside.
The Reserve Apartments have horrible management everything else about it is great but High View is horrible all around, there are no gates so random people can just come in, first night I was there it seemed like EVERYONE HAD to have a party, loud noise, people running and screaming no problem I was tired from the move and fell asleep easily, next morning I woke up walked out to my car found it keyed from front to back, apartment office was completely unhelpful they walked outside took a look came in and just tell me "wow, who'd you piss off?" same thing happened to about a line of cars with just their hoods that night.
Nearing the end of my first semester living there my apartment ended up being broken into, one guy pinning my roommate to the ground while another broke into the rooms to take my roommates stuff, when I went to the office they told me they would move me for free of charge, at the end of my year living with them I tried to re-rent my apartment out and they charge me for canceling on them for one AND on top of that apparently I am charged for moving apartments cause I was scared for my life.
Re-renting for these apartments....absolutely the WORST idea in the world they make the person renting your room another 12 month lease and when you ask them before hand they say "oh re-renting is EASY" (again I really recommend you READING your contract because everything that comes out of their mouths is just utterly complete bull) I had to make about 15 phone calls before I could piece together everything.
Think I lie sign the lease and have fun, im not recommending ANY UTSA off campus apartments cause they are all horrible living, but stay away from High View Place even their sister complex Hill Country is bearable compared to this Apartment complex
horrible apartments...will be totally rundown in a year – there is not one good thing i could say about high view. there are parties in the parking lot just about every day, so if you plan on studying GOOD LUCK. the walls are paper thin so don't be surprised if you hear your upstairs neighbor getting it on at 3am. the kitchen appliances are not that great, even if they are "sleek black appliances". the doors are shitty and the layout is not very well planned out. they will fine you for anything and everything they can. they don't do anything about the multiple break-ins except send out a letter of caution. my car got broken into multiple times, my neighbor had his windshield bashed in, my friend had his camera stolen, security won't do anything except stand there and pretend to look tough. the staff is decent, chris is really helpful and most of the kids are pretty nice (except the ones that think they are above you because they work here..)
i recommend you NOT live here if you value your studies at all
Not a safe place for your child to live at – My son has lived at High View Place Apts, less then a year , his room have been Burglarized 3 times, stealing his laptop,2 T.V.'s and other items and not counting the other roommates properties that also were stolen. He has been stabbed with a knife once in the parking lot. Property management ,feel they are only required to do the minimum to make it safe for your love ones. No uniform guards walk the property. Property management, said they could move him to the second floor ,BUT he would have to pay several hundreds more to break his lease. You can verify the crime, that I stated and others, by getting a crime report for this location at the San Antonio Police Dept.. Property Management does use a wrecker service, that makes sure to tow vehicles off the property, that don't have a parking permit . But criminals can walk around the property with no one watching them. I would not recommend "High View Place" for your loved ones to live at. 05.24.10
