Multiplex and megaplex theater chain shows mainstream movies in a plush setting. – In Short
In 1920, Edward Durwood opened a single-screen picture house in Kansas City, Mo. Over the next 40 years, his company went on to pioneer the use of four- and six-screen theaters. In 1969, the company incorporated as American Multi-Cinema Inc. in honor of its signature multiplexes. Now, the company is known for theaters with 14 or more screens, as well as innovations such as armrests with built-in cup holders, stadium seating with LoveSeats, ATM-style ticketing and online ticket purchasing.
Of course they have matinees – Just had to correct the 1 out of 1 review that was already posted. They said there were no matinees.
Has one large screen – The editorial review is quite right as far as their "other" screens are concerned. They are cramped, small and forgettable. But what the reviewer apparently does not know is that this cinema actually has one large screen in a really nice theatre. The trick is to find out which show is on the big screen and they wouldn't tell me when I asked at the box office. So once I got the big screen and was very pleased and once I got a small screen and was very annoyed (the price is the same after all, and this cinema did not offer matinee discounts last time I checked - only first show of the day). And the small screens aren't just small, but crappy. My ratings are for their big screen - avoid the small screens at all cost.
