FUN! So far so good. I've been a member for about a year now and the activities keep on getting better. I've made a close circle of new friends- but it took me a good month or so to meet them. I hate online dating so this was a better fit for me- And I plan on renewing my membership when it's up. They plan everything and it's just easy to sign up and enjoy whatever is on the agenda. I just read these reviews and I was actually surprised. These negative reviewer maybe did not attend very many activities. It was a good choice for me.

AWESOME! I moved to NY for a new job and had no friends or family in town so I joined Events and Adventures. I have made lots of new friends and I have enjoyed their activities. I have had a really good experience with the staff and I think the membership is well worth the price. If it was free, I would not meet other professionals in the same place in life I am in and get the same folks you see on free dating websites. I don't get why people complain... They plan a fun activity, I sign up for it online and them when I get there - everyone is single and looking to make friends. I have signed up for the South Africa trip and that is something I probably would not have planned by myself. AND I have dated a couple nice women since I joined. I really think it has made my transition into NY life much easier.

BEWARE! BEWARE! DO NOT join this outfit if you do not have lots of money to spend. Just about every activity costs $25 & up, plus the membership fees are outrageous! They also wil hassle you if you cancel your membership (with lawyers) even if someone says that they will tell them you are cancelling (not having gone to anything and financial hardships). They will not reimburse you for the fees that they owe you after you have cancelled and they pay no attention to that email and continue taking the fees out (until the credit card info. expires and you don't send them the new info.)

Thank God I came across this page; I almost joined because I am a single mother of 2 who never (and I mean ever) goes anywhere without the kids. I thought this was a nice way to meet new people but I didnt like all the pressure they put on you to go and meet with them. I dont think I would be able to afford them anyway specially if the events are not included in the membership. How sad...

I WAS A MEMBER AND THE REVIEWER ME 251 sounds like the high pressured sales pitch they used on me. Terrible. First they fast talk high pressure sales and not a one on one sales pitch, they team up on ya. THE PRICE IS WAY TOO HIGH, THEN WHEN YOU SAY NO THANKS, THEY CUT THE PRICE ALMOST IN HALF ( shoulda walked out based on that fact alone) Legally you have 3 business days to cancel. I joined on a Friday and went in on a Monday to cancel. They said sorry its been 3 days. Legally I should've taken them to court but I was soo upset and wasn't thinking straight. Bottom line - they don't want you to date, then they loose not only one customer but both of you as customers. Don't take it from me though just go in and ask for the next gathering spot and tell them you'll sign up after you know exactly what the deal is. Don't let them sucker you like they did to me.

I am one of the suckers to join this group a few months ago. This price is crazy, and you have to pay for many events on top of the monthly fee. There are a lot of events and it did sound like a good idea. Until I went to the events and realized there is only a small group of people under 40 years old and hardly anyone under 30. I was lied to by the group when I was told the majority of members are in their late 20s and early 30s. Hardly anyone over 40 Meanwhile basically everyone in the group is over 40!!!

Don't Waste Your Money! – The salespeople at E&A will put you thru 2 hours of a very high pressure sales pitch with very nice but pushy salespeople. They will then very convincingly persuade you to sign and contract and pluck down $2,000 "initiation fee", and $50/month in membership dues, and make little mention of the fact that even after these outrageous costs that you have to pay to go to many of their events! Pretty unbelievable.

Save your money and check out the many less expensive alternatives to meeting people. There's speed dating, online meetup groups, and other outdoor clubs. There are many these days, especially in the larger cities.

But please don't waste your money with this "exclusive club".

Satisfied Customer! – I’m a satisfied Events and Adventures (E&A) member.

Before I go on to actually reviewing Events and Adventures of Long Island, I want to first address the common complaints and negative comments I’ve seen on several venue review sites on the entire company, not just the Long Island branch.

One of the things I find to be dishonest, immature, lacking in integrity, strange, and above all, humorous, about many of the negative reviews is the fact that they are written by people who aren’t members of E&A. Imagine that: reviewing a product, service, or venue you’ve never attended. It’s akin to reviewing a restaurant I’ve never eaten at, a car I’ve never driven, a doctor I didn’t visit for an ailment or sickness, or a concert I didn’t attend.

A second thing commonly discussed in negative reviews is cost, usually delivered by otherwise self-proclaimed “successful” people. Now, don’t get me wrong; being a sympathetic, sensitive, mature, worldly, and fair person who’s worked nearly all of his professional life in economically challenged areas, I know that some people simply can’t afford to spend much money on living expenses, let alone hundreds to thousands of dollars per year on recreation and dating excursions. But I think it’s fair to say that when middle class people refer to themselves with the all-too-played-out word of the past decade, “successful”, what they really mean is that they have reaped some form of monetary success. Let me tell you, I don’t see too many of the underprivileged in the areas I’ve worked in running around boasting of “success”.

So I ask: If you’re so "successful", shouldn’t you have some disposable income on hand to enjoy your life? Granted, there are times in our lives when we simply can’t afford some things, and in these cases, it is better to do without or make a desired purchase later on. That actually makes more sense than negatively reviewing something simply because it’s not free or it costs more than your liking, all the while when you haven’t even used it before. Also in regards to cost, I’ve read reviews in which people complain that they were “convinced” to join E&A and now they're "stuck" with a hefty, undesired bill. Folks, no salespeople at E&A headquarters put guns to prospective members heads to join; they use words to ethically persuade, like any salesperson should. If you don’t like the salesperson’s style, ask for another one, or don’t join and cut down on immature whining. And you didn't "get stuck" with a bill, you made a thoughtful or thoughtLESS purchase!

And any grown adult without an MBA but half a brain should be able to step back and think of what goes into running a successful business. There are several departments and activities of any large business—marketing, sales, research, graphic design, webmastery, public relations, sales, etc.—that must be compensated for. You don’t work for free, and neither do other employees in this world, including the employees of E&A.

A third thing I see in negative reviews is some people saying they have no need for E&A because they are so gregarious, attractive, and social in the first place, so they therefore don’t or shouldn’t have to join a singles group. I ask: Then why not go about your merry social way then? Why even think of a singles group in the first place if you’ve got your social and dating life all worked out by yourself? Perhaps you don't have it together like you think you have considering you did think about E&A or some other dating venue or service.

A good experience – I joined Events and Adventures a little over a year ago. In the time that I have been in the group I have met some amazing lifelong friends and have had some really great experiences! I have had the ability to go sky diving, and white water rafting, which I would not have done on my own. The best part for me is knowing that I can go to any event and find people to talk to. It certainly beats the bar/club scene!
