The Short Version: Pupsi made us feel like we were unwelcome and did something wrong. I think this is a good way to alienate new customers.
Longer Version: We had our dog and foster dog taken care of on a Sunday. On our way home, we drove through a few thunderstorms that made traffic bad. We called pupsi to say we were unsure if we would make it in time. We knew we'd be within 5 minutes, the GPS said 4. The 3rd call I made and was able to speak to an employee. She didn't really give us a yes or no on if they'd stay a few minutes. It was more of an "OK we'll be there for a few minutes but not long." One wrong turn later we arrived at Pupsi at 6:06PM. The Pupsi people were getting in their vehicles obviously about to leave. They actually stopped and opened back up so we could get our dogs and we are very grateful for that. However, it was one of the most nauseatingly irritating experiences I have ever had. One female employee decided to grumble from the moment she opened her truck door to the moment we lost sight of her. She said things like "Ugg... 6:06. Two minutes..." "You don't understand. The bank wouldn't stay open a few minutes..." Literally grumbling the entire time. The other employee didn't say anything, she helped the grumbler get the dogs and close back up.
There are a few things we didn't know (because they didn't tell us) 1: They fed our dogs. 2. They would have boarded the dogs overnight at no additional charge. They also failed to ask pertinent information when we dropped the dogs off. There were no questions asked of my fiance who dropped them off. No information was provided as to their care, feeding schedule, or boarding concerns. The only thing we knew when we called was that they closed at 6PM on Sunday. The only thing they had to do was provide us with the information that the dogs would be fed and boarded. That would have solved the problem. We could have picked up our dogs the next morning. By the way, they did not have permission to feed one of the dogs in the first place.
To the lady who told us "You don't understand." Here is something I do understand: You don't do that to customers because they are going to tell everyone about their experience.
When you made the decision to help us instead of drive away, you should have skipped the pointless angry tirade. Also, the time to explain about your boarding and feeding practices to a new customer is upon drop off, not at the register at pickup. You were wrong, you treated us horribly and you made us very angry.
I have boarded my dogs at Pupsi since 1998, and I would never leave them in somebody else's care. The dogs are looked after well, and they get a chance to be dogs among dogs for a few days in their lives.
I read some comments about dirt and the occasional scuff. Yes, that can happen. Like children who sometimes need a band-aid.
AVOID. If you care about your animals... do not take them here! We were heading on a family vacation and decided to take our dog here. Our flight was the same afternoon and the reviews looked good so we decided to give it a try. The day we dropped our dog off the lady grabbed my dog by his neck and pulled him in. Our dog looked terrified. My mother was almost in tears about leaving him and fretted the entire flight. We got back and without a doubt they were mean to him. Most of the dogs were shaking. And mine had his tail between his legs and was covered in pee. He was actually yellow!! I really don’t think they even let the dogs out of the kennel. We now go to Doggie Village! That place is great.
Left my dogs here for a week and when I picked up my female had a bad cut under her eye and my male had a severe lung infection. I was told the cut was their when I left the dog which is completely wrong as my vet agreed the cut was not over 3 days old. My male was very sick and and I was not informed of any of this. I was extremely disappointed in my first visit and would not trust this place with a stuffed animal. Please if you care about your pets as we do don't use this place. The owner is also very rude and uncaring about anything but the money.
GREAT PLACE - 5 STAR SERVICE, CARE, FRIENDS – I found Pupsi back in 2007 when I boarded my last dog for 6 months there while staying with my husband's father who was dying in New Jersey. They kept me advised, handled his medical needs, and all in all spoiled him rotten. It got to the point that he recognized where I was going when on the way and would start "head-butting" me to get out, he was so excited. These people are the best "dog people" I have ever seen. And they are just as kind and considerate to the dog owners as well. If you want to have "NO WORRIES", Pupsi is the place to board. They are boarding my new puppy now and have even worked with me to get him over his neurotic behavior. I rescue my dogs and this one was people shy and not leash trained. Now he's absolutely perfect on a leash (and it only took about two days and I was amazed). Although he's still people shy, he's coming right along. This new puppy already knows when he's going to Pupsi and trys to crawl all over me to get out and get to play with the other dogs. I've read the other reviews and the lower end ones must have been written by people who have problems of their own, since they were definitely not discribing Pupsi.
AVOID THIS PLACE!!! – I decided to take my dogs to Pupsi after a coworker said that her dog seem to enjoyed it. So I looked up the company and it's profile online and it seemed like a place where dogs could have fun. The first time I went to Pupsi the women at the front waited for me to speak first without saying hello. That should have been my first sign. When I picked my dogs up she acted like she couldn't speak to me when I picked them up. Made a poor decision to take them there again and she ask goes in her office to talk with another employee. The other women calls my baby who is dressed in pink head to toe an "it." They are RUDE and UNFRIENDLY! All I can think is not another day will I give money to bad business. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Horrible Customer Service – Okay so I took my 5 month old Toy Poodle to Pupsi last week for grooming. After doing thorough research and reading all the good reviews I thought he was in good hands. This was his first time getting groomed and this entire experience left me less than impressed.
So on their site it says "walk ins welcome, but we recommend calling ahead to check availability". So I called ahead to see if they had openings. The lady who answered the phone was very short with me. As a first timer I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. I tried to explain to her it was his first time and I wanted to know what all I needed to bring. I didn't have the opportunity to ask ANY of that. She was clearly rushing and said "Well is he coming or not, we only have so many slots" RED FLAG!
I went ahead and scheduled him anyways. So when I dropped him off. Same rude, rushed demeanor from everyone. When I picked him up. My dog was FREAKING OUT! I understood that it was his first time and he was just shaken up from being in a weird place. That wasn't the problem. The problem was the deep scratches he put on my chest and arms. THEY DIDN'T CLIP HIS NAILS! I said something about it and was told that "He wouldn't let me do it, so I just left it. You should just take him for a walk on pavement".
Needless to say I paid full price for a job NOT well done and shoddy customer service. His cut was fine which is the only reason they received two stars. I took her tip money and went to PetSmart where they used, ironically the same grinder tool that "he wouldn't sit still for" and was done in a matter of minutes.
We will NOT be returning.
What an amazing place for a pup! – When I recently adopted my 4 week old black lab puppy "Jackie" , she immediately became a member of our family - and I love her like a child. So it is no wonder I was VERY nervous in finding the right person or place to help me with her training.
A friend referred me to Pupsi and I began my research; driving by the place, stopping in for a tour, and reading reviews. Some of the reviews posted here had me quite skeptical, however I considered all the positive reviews and looked the company up with the Better Business Beurau (where they are listed with an A+ rating!). I could not be too careful with my baby Jackie.
I called and talked to Mary, the owner, about her 5 day training package and potty training package. She was very straightforward, very knowledgeable and has been in the business for years. I decided to give it a shot (still nervous!)
The day I dropped off Jackie, I met Trace and he walked me around the facility. What I noticed was the cleanliness inside, and the dogs playing together outside. The play yard is huge and divided so younger dogs can play while the bigger dogs can play too. Trace was very patient with all of my questions - and I had a lot of them. We talked about potty training and Jackie's need to go through Pupsi's program. Trace told me that he thought I was doing everything correctly and that Jackie didn't need the additional potty training that Pupsi can provide. This was an EXCEPTIONAL tribute to the integrity and character of the staff at Pupsi. As I'm an inexperienced dog owner, Trace could have easily convinced me to purchase the additional training. But he did not care about the additional money Pupsi could make - rather, he cared about Jackie's training and MY training. He gave me some tips and I decided to stick with the 5 day commands training only.
So - fast forward to day #4 of training...So far, my puppy knows how to sit, heel, stay, and come. She is jumping and biting a lot less, and I am learning how to continue her training. Mary is working with Jackie(and with me!) and provides a very caring approach to training. I believe she loves each one of her students. And she has so much experience that she knows exactly what works and what doesn't.
But even better than that is Jackie's great day socializing with all her friends at Pupsi. When I drop her off in the morning, she races for the door and jumps into the arms of any one of the employees (who by the way always say "Hi Jackie!" and know each and every one of the dogs by name). When I pick her up at the end of the day, she is wet from frolicking around in the swimming pool and smells nice and clean. And when we get home she runs for her bed and nearly passes out from exhausting play all day.
I have had a very good experience with Pupsi and will continue to be a client and use the day-care often. I recommend Pupsi to anyone who loves and cares about their dog.
Avoid!!! – do no use this place!!! My daughter took her dog there, horrible grooming!!! And 2 days after being there he came down with kennel cough!!! Stay away from this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pupsi is Awesome! – I've been with Pupsi fo r7+ years. Whether I needed a lot (extra week of doggy daycare because I was out of the country) or minor last minute assistance (1 day daycare) Pupsi is there! My dogs are so happy to go - as soon as we pull in they act like they are home. They wag their tails and jump around, and when I pick them up sometimes they are reluctant to leave. Pupsi is a fantastic facility run by true dog lovers and is by far a superior facility.
They truly care about my dogs: my dog threw up blood, and they took him to my vet of record while calling me to let me know he was sick. This is what I want; I've spent thousands on my dogs' health and I care deeply about them. Mary & Trace care too, and it shows. I am not just a customer but a friend - how many services have you used weekly for over seven years? These guys are the best.
Someone posted a ridicoulous note about the owner of Pupsi bragging about how aggressive his dog was; what a crock! Their dogs are kind and they work hard to help dogs be happy, not aggressive. Other services wish they had such a strong reputation.
Pupsi is fantastic, well run, low priced and truly a great facility.
