What a shame – It is 2 am and I cannot sleep because I am so upset about what happened today at Skin Sense. I had an appointment at 5, but my baby woke from her nap at 2:30 screaming with a 105 fever. I immediately called to cancel my appointment as I was able to get the baby into the doctor at 4:30. I was rudely told I would be charged for the appointment. I asked to speak to a manager, and I was told by the person who answered the phone she was the manager. I called the Brier Creek Spa to try to find another manager and my call was not returned.
This is bad policy. This was a true emergency and I have been visiting this spa for years- regularly for the past several months. I have spent thousands at Skin Sense, but apparantly the $85 charge for cancelling too late was worth more than a loyal customer.
I completely understand cancellation polcies, but there should be some flexibility for loyal customers who have an emergency. I feel badly for my therapist who will lose a customer because of her company's policy. I am also suprised they would knowingly want someone in the spa who is caring for a baby with the flu virus. Bringing balance to life is about caring for your children when they are sick- not getting a facial, and not potentially spreading germs.
What a Spa!! – Being new to the area I read in a January/February 2009 Cary Magazine that Skin Sense won the Best Place to Pamper. Skin Sense was well worth the journey, your staff at 1269 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary, NC was warm and welcoming, and the mood made my first time visit to a Spa admirable. The hospitality from the time you walk in was wonderful and made me feel welcome. Stacey passion translated into her excellent back waxing services. I was more than impressed. I received great services. I will definitely be making a return trip for my first massage at your establishment. Thanks, for such an awesome experience. I very much enjoyed my first visit to Skin Sense Spa. The service I received was wonderful; I will recommend your establishment to my friends. It was a pure pleasure finding a Day Spa like you; it sure did bring balance to my life, Billy.
Wonderful experience – I’ve had treatments numerous times at all Skin Sense locations. However, one treatment stood out from the rest of them. Of course all of my treatments have been wonderful, but I would have to say my Shiro Dhara with Stacey met all of my expectations and above. I’ve always had massages but have never tried a treatment quite like the Shiro Dhara before. I’m always so tense and stressed even when I have massages I think about the things that stress me out but the Shiro Dhara completely took that away! Stacey was very thorough in explaining the treatment to me since I was new to it and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole experience. I also added on a green tea foot treatment. While the treatment was getting started she gave me a great foot massage and the green tea made my feet feel so smooth and soft! That was just the beginning, after the oil was running over my forehead “my third eye”, she gave me an awesome scalp massage and I felt my stress just melt away. I will definitely return for another one in a couple of weeks. And also while I was leaving I noticed on Tuesdays you receive $15 off any massage or body treatment until November 30th! So I will definitely be back before then! I will never forget my Shiro Dhara!
A great place to relax – I have been coming to Skin Sense for a little over a year. I have visited all 3 locations and have enjoyed my time at each one. Currently I go to the Cary one off of Kildaire and I always feel so amazing when I leave. It is the only chance I get to relax and I love sitting in the lounge, usually I fall asleep and my girl has to wake me up! The treatments they offer are great and they always have new specials every month. Everyone here is always so nice to me and they always put me at ease - since Im usually stressed right up to the point when I walk in.
Best Spa Ever. – This location is wonderful. All the staff members went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. My treatment was amazing. My massage therapist did exactly what I wanted. It was the best massage I have ever had. I also had an oxygen facial. My skin has never looked so bright and glowing. I'm so happy that I came here and I will surely be returning soon.
Terrible Customer Service VERY BAD ATTITUDES! – My wife received a gift certificate to this place and decided to call and use her gift card. When she called she was told that she had to use a credit card to reserve the appointment. She did not have her credit cards with her so they would not reserve an appointment for her. The girl on the phone was very rude and abrasive and talked down to my wife as if she were a bother to her on the phone. My wife tried to get them to hold the reservation with the Gift Card, but was told that they could not do that. My wife went in person to the spa and spoke with the manager to see about resolving this situation. The manager told her that they would hold the gift card to ensure the reservation AFTER the girl on the phone said they would not do that! My wife asked for a cash refund for the card and was told that they would refund the money to her friend that gave her the Gift Card. I understand having to ensure that appointments are kept, but do not understand why my wife was told over the phone that they would not do something that they then deicded to do after she showed up in person. What a waste of time and effort. I will never again even think about buying a gift certificate from this place. I will go back to La Therapie where both my wife & I were treated like valued customers rather that Skin Sense where they treat you like a second class citizen who they are doing a favor for.
A response to complaints about charged when canceling – First off, I don?t work at skin sense. I work for a Salon and Spa across town where we also have the same policy, as do most other Spas. This policy is set in place because when you have a scheduled appt. and you no show or call in for whatever reason that person who would have been providing the service to you now had a big fat opening and if its less than 24 hours has no time to fill it. You complain because they are charging you? The provider depends on you showing up or someone else who could have had that spot to pay them. The question to you is, how many times had you called out or just not shown up to an appt? They keep records of those things and normally let it go twice before charging you.
The Best Spa in Raleigh – I have been to several spa locations in Raleigh and have never experienced such a wonderful service as I did at Skin Sense. I received a gift card from a friend to Skin Sense and didn't know what to expect. I could not believe how calming and comfortable the spa was. The locker room was wonderful with all the amenities one could need. I was immediately relaxed while sitting in the quite room before and after the message. Thank you all so much for a wonderful experience. I'll be back!!! I've convinced my mother to come with me next time she is in town.
Best day spa in the Triangle! – I've never felt so pampered in my life. The minute you walk in the door, you are in another world - the great smells, the music - everything is perfect! I've never had a bad service - the massages are amazing and the facials are definately a treat.
Terrible Customer Service - Rigid Cancellation Policy – I had to cancel an appointment, and unfortunately called 23 hours in advance instead of the required 24. The salon insisted I would still be charged for the appointment - this despite the fact my appointment concerned only a 15-minute service.
I found the rigidity of the cancellation policy unreasonable and agree with other reviewers that blanket policies are inapprorpiate and certainly a bad way to do business. It is a shame that the company would risk jeapordizing customer goodwill in this way.
I plan to book all future appointments elsewhere - there are too many quality Day Spas in the Trianlge to put up with such poor customer service.
