Colonial Baptist Church - Cary, NC – I've only been here a few (maybe 5 or so) times so far, but find everyone to be very down to earth & welcoming. Not to mention, the pastor (still don't remember his name...Pastor Davey, I think...) is doctrinally sound and doesn't seem to insert too much of his opinion in his sermons. So far, he has stayed true to the text and what is commonly accepted as right teaching. I am in a small group there too. It's also very down to earth and laid back as far as the conversations go, but the Biblical teaching is on point and not "laid back" from a doctrinal perspective. Anyway, no matter if you decide to go here or another church, do as Paul said - search the scriptures for yourself and make sure the truth is being preached. As for the person "Wamg" who gave this a one star review...I have yet to run across the opinionated, unfriendly, judgemental, cliquish people here. Wait, let me correct myself...we are ALL this way, which is why we need Jesus. And Jesus seems to be preached here. Didn't this reviewer say in one breath that people at this church are opinionated and judgemental and then in another breath this same reviewr judged, using their own opinion, that this church does not have true Christians going here? That seems to be a bit of the same hypocrisy they are accusing the people at this church to have. Which goes to show, again, that we need to look in the mirror and ask the Lord to work on our hearts, not the hearts of those around us. Anyway, if a church preaches the good news, and this one does, then it has 5 stars in my book, no matter how *gasp* sinful the people that go to the church are.

I can't speak for everyone, but I know for me, that the Lord has used this church and the people at the church to challenge me and help me on my way to a more intimate relationship with Jesus. At the end of the day, that's what's important.

Beware !!!! – At first, I was looking for a famly friendly church to attend when I arrived in Cary. My initial impression was favorable. HOWEVER, when I became more involved with the bible study groups, I found the people to be cult-like, and cliquish. Many of their members are hypocrites, rigid, and have displayed intolerance of other races and religeons. They try to dictate how one should think, and live, based on their OPINIONS. They are religeous extremists, very judgemental, and should be ashamed to call themselves CHRISTIANS. AVOID this church at all costs. They hate Jews, Muslims,Catholics, and others.

HeyZ3lda – First, I am not a member of Colonial Baptist Church, but I have been to several services there. When I find someone that condemns by saying "Christians are supposed to immulate Christ & act compassionate, not quick to judge," but they fail to look in the mirror at their own behavior, it turns my stomach.

Don't you find it odd that someone would call you and "lie" about your check being returned for NSF if it had not? Why would they? Later, they even gave the returned check to you. (Given, they also sent you a returned check from someone else) Could they actually be able to do this if it had not been returned? Look on the check. It will say the reason whey your bank gave the check back to the church instead of crediting the funds to their account. Why did they have to contact you 2 months later if you sent them payment for the returned check when they initially informed you about it?

For security, I have seen lots of cameras there and the doors are locked. Do you think that you could have just walked in to one of the rooms and took a kid? I would be concerned if you were able to get one of the kids without some security in place or to leave with one. In an active church, there are always lots of things going on and people will go in and out of the common areas, no matter which door they go in.

Since this is your first child, you may not know how difficult it is to have your child placed in preschool and that if you are holding a spot without funds to hold the spot, you are preventing someone on the waiting list from getting closure to their needs. Should the church hold the spot for you for 2 months while others are on the waiting list?

You may say that from my comments, I also am acting unlike one of Christ's disciples. If you think so, please refer to the New Testament. His disciples did not always tell people that what they were doing was right or tell them what they wanted to hear. The disciples did have a sense of urgency, and they told the people what they needed to hear. Sure, the humans @ Colonial Baptist make mistakes. Shame on them for sending you someones checking information. They are human! However, if my child were waiting for a spot in preschool there and someone was non-committal, holding a spot without having funds in place, I would hope that they would call and attempt to resolve it as quickly as possible.

I am not condemning you for your comments. I hope that now that it has been several months since this occurred, that you can contact them so that you can discuss your feelings.

Unfriendly – If you like mega churches with all of the bells and whistles, and you care nothing about personal relationships, then this might be the church for you. My family and I attended for nearly a month trying to assimilate, but we found the congregation to be cliquish and the music minister to be downright rude and snobbish when we were trying to actually give him a compliment. Truly, I was surprised and disappointed because I loved all of the things a large church could offer for our kids. However, I would rather them learn respect and kindness, and we sadly didn't find it there.
