Many thanks to Christina and Joe!!!! (Truly professional) – Christina and Joe from the Heart of Texas was very courteous and understood my needs. They helped me and really took the time to listen to me and walk me thru the process. They also helped me understand the grieving process, this made such a difference.
I found them on line called them, met with them once and the cremation process was more comfortable and compassionate than i had every anticipated.
I would totally recommend the Heart of Texas.
horrible service, totally unprofessional – Started the process of cremating a loved one on April 30th, waited over a week and called for a status update. They blamed the hospital for not submitting the needed paperwork. Called a director with the hospital and explained the situtaion, was assured that the paperwork had been provided. As of today, we are on day 14 with no indication of when this will be completed.
Thank you and sorry for Confusion – Hi John, Thank you for contacting me. I never intended to cause doubt on behalf of your readers. As I stated before, I am not one to place reviews and I am doing it again. I did use your services in both of your locations. My son also posted our review under his own user name which we reposted on your other site. I know it is confusing and we apologize for that confusion we just wanted readers to know what we experienced. I think my mother and brother would get a rise out of this confusion over their cremations. I hope this will help readers understand.
Shame on Them – First, I really don't like when businesses leave their own reviews. These two most recent posts are obviously left by the business, which makes you wonder what they are hiding. After reading one of the reviews, I looked up their other location and wouldn't you know 'JerryJones' also left the same review for that business. Shame on these folks.
Called to get pricing and was not told anything about 3 weeks to get my loved one back. Don't know about you, but I don't want my love one just sitting in a refrigerator for 3 weeks!!
Do some homework--fake reviews=bad business.
Thank you for your review. We do not post reviews on our own behalf. I am sorry you are under the impression that the process takes 3 weeks. Each case is different and in some instances there are circumstances that cause delays, as in the case of the review you based your review on. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
VERY PLEASED – I came online to write a review and was floored by what I read. My family had a very unexpected death. The staff lets you know from the beginning that they help out over 80 families a month and the process does take up to two weeks. If your under time constraint, then maybe another funeral home would work best for you. They only want the best for everyone. Unfortunately, not all of us can pay thousands of dollars for services. For the cremation we paid for and the service we recieved, we felt total gratitude towards them for providing a wonderful service to our family and the community. I will never forget them and cant thank them enough. Im glad they didnt have fancy cars and a fancy building, so they can make funerals more affordable for us humble people. For those haters, go pay $3,000 for your cremation, but im sure you'll still find something to complain about.
Thank you for taking the time to post your review. You are correct, we try to be very clear about the process and set reasonable expectations for the families we have the honor of serving. I also want to thank you for coming to our defense concerning the negative reviews. Most (not all) of the negative reviews are from people who did not utilize our services, they either drove by or called and didn't give us the opportunity to make an impression on them. We do try to provide a dignified and affordable alternative to the high prices at traditional funeral homes. Thank you again for placing your trust in us and I hope you know that if you need us we will be there for you.
Good People – I am not one to post reviews. I found myself in the dreadful position to have to arrange for a cremation. Heart of Texas was recommended to me by people who had used them before. I was more than satisfied, they are good people doing a wonderful thing for our city. Those of you who have posted negative reviews, have you priced cremation in Austin lately. You are bashing the only funeral home in this entire area that appears to charge fair prices for cremation and urns. You can't say they are about the money, not at their prices. And at those prices do you think their facilities must look like a castle. I'm sure if they charged $2,000 to $4,000 for the same cremation they charged $775 for, they would have a big beautiful facility. The facilities were very respectable. Maybe a little dark but comfortable and nicely decorated. I called several funeral homes when my brother died, and visited two places that were really fancy (one even serves alcohol). They wanted $3800 to cremate my brother but they were cold and insensitive, (but they had a nice building). Probably will not make any difference but Heart of Texas please continue doing what you do, this community needs you. There is a saying, "You cant please everyone no matter how hard you try". Sorry for the rant, My brother was properly honored by the people at Heart of Texas. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the kind words. You have utilized our service on two occasions, once in San Antonio and more recently in Austin. Your family has been through so much and I appreciate you taking the time to place your review. It is nice to know that some really do appreciate what we are doing for the community. We do review the negative comments and we try to use such negativity as a learning experience for our entire staff. Some appear to be very mean in their comments but these people are hurting and we understand. Thank you Jerry and I hope you have a safe and happy holiday.
Dad would have been proud – My dad always said when his time came that he wanted to be cremated and that was it.
From the first time I called and asked questions to when they arrived at my dad's home. I knew my dad would have been proud that we honored his wishes. I had called around and found prices ranging from $3000 to $1500 for the same service we got from Heart of Texas for less than $850. They even had a flag folded for my dad since he was a veteran.
I have already recommended their services to some friends and will highly recommend their services in the future. I disagree with the negative posters, this service is much needed and appreciated by my family.
Thank you for your kind words. It is very apparent that your father was a special person and we feel honored that you allowed us the opportunity to serve your family. Thank you for taking the time to post your review. John Goodnight
Difficult to work with during a very difficult time – Every step of this process has been difficult with Heart of Texas. I was so relieved to finally pick up my father's remains and to be done dealing with them. They did not set realistic expectations regarding the amount of time cremation/death certificate, etc would take. It took almost three weeks. They forgot that we had ordered an urn, forgot which urn we'd ordered and called my mom when I repeatedly asked them to use me as a point of contact. When I went to pick up my father's remains, the urn was not permanently sealed which Robert had assured me it would be. As I waited in their empty, strange, dark strip-mall "office" space for someone to go seal the urn, I kept hearing the creepy music from the movie, Halloween. I guess that was someone's cell phone ringtone. I found it very unnerving and disrespectful to families and the deceased.
Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I have noted your concerns and will visit with our staff in an effort to improve our service. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your father.
Made us wait forever! – I should have known that a low price meant trouble. Had my father picked up from hospice in Austin, and thought the price was too good to be true.
I live in San Antonio and called these people to make an appointment. They told me I had to do the paperwork online--what?
They we had planned a service for a few days later the answer was it will be a few weeks until we get to your father. We were told if we wanted something sooner we needed to 'go somewhere else'. Why could they not help us to get this resolved?
It just seemed very unprofessional and we eventually had our father moved to another funeral home.
It was not something that we wanted during this time of stress, and if I had to do it over I would not consider this place again.
Then, I was looking at reviews in San Antonio where I live, and sure enough these same guys showed up under the name Cremation San Antonio with the exact same reviews posted here! Meaning, they are posting the same reviews under different names and dates--very unprofessional.
Make sure to look into these people.
Facts: As an owner of Heart of Texas we take great pride in assisting families who have lost a loved one. We always abide by the law and never take lightly our responsibility. You made requests that were unreasonable for us to carry out. We are very sorry for your loss and your satisfaction is always our first priority which is why, under your demands, we suggested another funeral home whose schedule may work better for you.
We do have a cremation service in San Antonio which I manage. I did use a review from the Austin location because it mentioned my name specifically, John Goodnight. It is my hope that you received the service you were seeking. As for the on-line paperwork, we offer on line options for people such as yourself who are out of town. This allows you the opportunity to complete the paperwork in the comfort of your own home. Many of the families we serve prefer this method.
Thank you – I had a very good experience with Heart of Texas. They were kind, and worked with me patiently as I dealt with my mother's death. They made the process as painless as it could have been. My mother wanted her ashes turned into a reef-ball and used to rebuild coral reefs. Heart of Texas' low cost plan has made it possible for me to honor my mother the way she would like to be honored.
Thank you for the Kind words.
