Don't Go Here!!! – Last Saturday (3/10/12) the manager not only allowed unruly behavior from an apparently drunk customer but seemed to encourage it. Unprovoked, vugar, harassing language was directed toward a female customer. When the young woman complained to the manager he did nothing. The behavior even got worse at that point. It is hard to believe a business could stay in business long with this type of management.
Nothing like it Used to be! Good Riddance! – Rude, discourteous, and sloppy customer service!!! My family and I were dressed nicely out for a nice Sunday afternoon catching some sales while shopping, we then got hungry for lunch and Wild Wing Cafe seemed like a logical choice, a change to get decent food and watch the Carolina Panthers football game. But we had no idea or the horrible experience we would have.
Firstly, they sat my family in the corner of the restaurant away from all windows and in a darker area of the restaurant. (I should have known something was amiss then) We ordered and assortment of wings along with the Cheddar Cheese Potato appetizer. My cousins ordered a beers, as well as sweet tea to go with their food, and I attempted to order a Fruit Punch Pitcher Cocktail. However when I showed my ID to the waitress she refused to take it. The NC State drivers license was fully valid, not expiring until 2016, and completely legible. It had cracked a while back, after being in my wallet, and I placed transparent tape to hold it together until I'm able to get a license. (I've even heard from actual law enforcement that some of the plastic used on the cards has been of inferior quality as of late) I then asked to speak to the manager and although he fully had the entitlement to honor the card, he refused and actually was quite rude; The opposite of what someone who is trying to keep business should be like, especially in this economy. I work for a law firm and know the logistics of such situations. The card is valid by law and was recently accepted a other restaurants, bars and even on a flight I took just a few weeks prior to Connecticut at both the North Carolina and North Eastern Airports.
To think that this idiot manager at a mere average restaurant would refuse to accept my License is nearly unthinkable. In order to please the customer and to save the prospect of future business he should have accepted the ID. I have eaten here several times in the past and enjoyed myself, and even reserved the larger side room for a going away event for a friend. But I am calling and suggesting to corporate that they revaluate the current restaurant manager. Because the service we received on 11/27/11 should not be tolerated. This will be our last trip to the Wild Wing Cafe Franchise.
Obnoxiously poor service – Waited 2 hours for a table, only to have it given to another party by mistake. When we asked them to either ask that party to move or for them to make other arrangements, the "manager" (chad I think) was rude and unhelpful. instead of offering to make things right, he essentially said "tough luck" and disappeared. It wasn't evem that busy. We left and will never return - chad needs to be fired or otherwise disciplined - it was like a 15 yeard old would react to the situation. Furthermore, the trivia was a joke, as we spent over and hour answering legit trivia questions only to have the winner determined by personal questions about the trivia host. It wasn't the mistake that was the issue - it just needed to handled in a more service-oriented professional manner.
Unacceptable service quality – Had one of the worst service experiences of my life on Wed. night. Waited two hours for a table when the restaurant wasn't extremely busy - then we discovered that they had given our table to another party by mistake. The error was tolerable, but the way the manager handled the situation was unnacceptable. There were several options that would've been reasonable efforts to make things rights -- explain to the party that was just seated in our place that there was an error and seat us instead, offer to comp our meal and/or drinks, shift some other tables around to accodomodate us, etc. Instead, the manager basically said "tough luck" and disappeared to the back rather than try to deal with us. He hung the poor hostess out to dry. When we asked for a round of drinks to be comped as compensation - he shockingly refused.
It's also a rather clichey place with a lot of regulars that seem to get favorable treatment. A cynic might think that they seated their friends before us. In addition, it was trivia night and we were leading the contest until a final round that included five personal questions about the trivia host -- again, if you weren't in the WW cliche you were out of luck.
The food here is OK and I've heard they have good bands ocassionally (although the two times I've been when they had live music it was brutal). However, the eight of us in our party on Wed. won't be returning - the manager was so disrectful that we cannot see giving this poorly-run franchise any more business.
I'd recommend going down the street to Ale House - food is comparable, service is FAR superior, and the ambience is much nicer. It's just a higher quality option...
