Kris Jennings is AWESOME – I discovered Posh only this January when my stylist KRIS JENNINGS, with whom I have been for 12 years now, moved there from another salon (where she had been that whole time). I loved the salon's atmosphere from the moment I walked in; being a Durham resident, I am thrilled to be using the services of a company in the newly-renovated downtown area. I love old warehouses that have been restored, and this one is perfect for a salon. I even love the little stations they have set up for each stylist. I see Kris Jennings, who I absolutely LOVE. As I said, I've been with her for 12 years. I started going to her when I asked a law school classmate, whose hairstyle I always loved, who did her hair, and she referred me to Kris - and I haven't looked away since! I would (and do) refer anyone to Kris with 100% confidence. It's great to have this relationship with someone for so long because they get to know your hair, what it will and won't do, which hairstyles will look best on me, etc. - but we also get to know one another's kids, stories, personalities, etc. I love Kris, and based on the two times I've been so far, I also love Posh! I recommend the salon to anyone searching for a VERY NICE salon, yet one that is more reasonably-priced than some high-price establishments.
Pampered at Posh – Located across the street from Pop's restaurant and the West End Wine Bar, Posh the Salon sits in a trendy section of Durham in a great space. Think hip, cool vibe and spacious warehouse feel. The reception staff is friendly and accommodating. When I called to say I would be late because I had just been pulled over by a state trooper they showed compassion and understanding. They squeezed me in so I could look fab for a big charity event that night. Kris Jennings, hair stylist extraordinaire, is the bomb!!!
Disappointed – All the hype on the new salon. I thought I would try it. "I need a sylist who can talk to me about my hair, age and an appropriate style", I said. "Oh all of our hair stylists are great at that we will give you X" they said. When I asked my stylist what she thought, she looked at me like a deer in the headlights. She ended up giving me a trim of what I already had, was difficult to talk to and generally just inexperienced with the job and people. Very disappointing. I left there, having paid top dollar for top advice that I did not even come close to.
Average – I tried this salon for a cut and color. The stylist did a nice job, though the highlights were a little more "chunky" than I would have ideally liked. She also gave me a free deep conditioning treatment, but not after criticizing me for the dryness of my hair and for my choice of hair care products.
I found a special on their website for 20% off. Overall, I was satisfied with the service and the price (after the discount). However, I'm going to try a different salon next time. Without the discount, it would have been too expensive for average service.
best color I've had – I was a teacher at ADF this past summer. I went to the Salon for a single process color and walked out with the best results I ever had. This place is awesome wonderful people and excellent talent. I highly HIGHLY endorse this salon!
