Ruth's Chris Steak House Fresno, CA – We went for our anniversary last yr, #29. We are from the east coast and since we know Ruth's, we went with great expectations. This location, RiverPark Mall Fresno, CA, was a serious let down. The food was over-cooked sitting in overly-hot, greasy butter, that bubbled on the plates in brown circles. The smell of of it was stale. The service was regrettable, not at all what we have been accustomed to in other Ruths'; no attention to detail, waitress got lost for extended periods of time, she didn't pick up used dishes or glassware. Both of us have been int he food industry for 35 yrs, so there is some idea of what's what, therefore we were not pleased. It amounted to a plate of steak that my father-in-law could have overcooked himself in a greasy frying pan. Ruth's should be Ruth's no matter where you go. Their corp. staff should work on service expectations and stay until they are sure the locals know what to do for guests. it's supposed to be an upscale dining room; not a beanery. Today is #30;needless to say, we are not going.

Great salad - Mediocre steak – Numerous Fresno Restaurants were having prix fixe meals awhile back. Ruth's Chris was one of them. You chose a soup or salad, an entree, and a desert. When we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess, and shown to our table. The interior of the restaurant is dark, and modern, with splashes of color. It was quite impressive. Our waiter greeted us, asked about drinks, then presented us with menus. He was glib, phony, and unpleasant. Though he was fine with the mechanics of serving. The salads were chopped, then tossed with the dressing. They looked and tasted wonderful. The lobster bisque was quite good. The Filet Mignons were beautiful to look at, cooked perfectly, and devoid of taste. They were also, obviousy, at least an ounce less then their advertised wieght. For desert we were all going to have cheese cake. The waiter, without asking us, brought us all chocolate cake. When we told him that we wanted cheese cake, he told us that it was cheese cake.
