Great place--new management since Jan 2013, new website, new layout--vast improvements. Check it out for yourself! In fact--there should be a way for old and outdated postings to be deleted--or given less weight--it does not reflect the outstanding changes recently made here! Highly recommend it!

Great place to consign – I have always had a great experience with everyone that works at Passages plus I have done very well moving my products quickly and making money!

It sounds more like people that have not had a good exp had a bad exp with a staff member and not Passages itself.

Again, never had a problem, owner is great and really knows his stuff!

No Problems – I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews on here but when I saw all of them I had to post my thoughts! I have never had a problem with Passage. The people are nice, the owner is so funny and I have made good money on my clothes. I have tried out many consignment shops in the past and I would rate this one right up there with the best. Maybe the only people that get on these sites are people that have been wronged but this smart shopper loves Passage!

ALERT TO CONSIGNEES – I had shopped as Passages for several months before I consigned any items with them. If you are considering consigning items, I would recommend that you find another consignor. Here's why:

When I left items for consignment, I had complied a list of the items and descriptions of each item. I found it mysterious that Passages made no such list. I assumed that they would make their list later in the day since all of the items had been stacked together on a loading dock by the owner of Passages. In the weeks after having left items for consignment, I continued to shop at Passages, accompanied by friends. I had been told that my items would be placed on the floor immediately. When I never saw my items, I assumed they had sold -- very quickly. When I called in to check on the balance in my account, I was told that my name had become "disassociated" from the items, and that they were glad to hear from me so that they could get my items "reassociated" with my name and on the floor. In repeated visits, I still never saw my items on the floor.

When I called again to ask about the balance in my account, I was told that some items had been on the floor so long that they had been donated to charity during the time that they had been "disassociated" from my name. I protested that I had visited the store regularly, and had NEVER seen my items on the floor, so it didn't make sense that they had been on the floor so long as to have been donated to charity. Further, because I had had friends with me when I had shopped, I had witnesses to the fact that we had never seen any of my items on the floor. Therefore, persons other than I, had seen that the particular items in question had not been put on the floor. Hence,, they could NOT have been "on the floor" long enough to have been considered for charitable donation. The person at Passages who told me about the charitable donation told me that he would provide me the receipt from the charity so that I could take a tax deduction for the contribution at year end. However, he couldn't then tell me the name of charity to which items had been donated or the date of the donation. Guess what? The story then changed, and I was told that since they (Passages) had made the mistake, they would compensate me for the items which had been "disassociated" from my name and had then never appeared on the floor, but which had been on the floor so long as to have been donated to charity. I hope that is confusing to you, because it was confusing to me, too, and I don't know what they did with my items, but I don't think they were telling me the truth. By the way, I never got "compensated."

I agree - passage is awful – I despise this place. The owner has been abusive and rude to me so many times that I have finally stopped going. I swear he almost ruined me on the idea of even consigning. There is a woman, Maria, who used to work at Passage, she is now at her own store - I go there! They treat me with respect and courtesy, and if they do make a mistake they admit it with honesty and then OMG actually fix it. I have made some great extra cash and found some neat stuff. Before you give up on consignment stores look at This Just In Consignments and Revolver.

NIGHTMARE, WORST PLACE TO CONSIGN – I agree with Ellsa post

June 18, 2011

I had many items at passage consignment. All the high end items I had there was magically disappearing. Last week I went there to see what sold an I noticed my duvet was not there. I went to the owner to get paid for my things. He told me" I have 17$. coming to me" I asked him" why is it such a small amount" He did not have an answer. I asked him" where is my duvet? he said " It went to charity" He said "it had a stain" I told him nicely" It did not have a stain it was brand new". He showed me on the computer very abruptly He said "see its right here!!" He walked around from the back of the counter And said again abruptly " lets look in the in the room for your things" At that point put his hand on my back to lead me to the main room where all the Item were. I told him" take you hands off me" With that he yelled "you just threatened me get out of my store and get your things out of here" And again he said "get out of my store I am calling the police" I left the store In SHOCK. He called the police on his cell phone outside and told them "There is a lady in my parking lot that is mentally in balanced" In return I also called the police for my defense. When the police came I told the officer the truth that I was just inquiring about my Item, and I was only responding in a concerned manor that is all. The truth is when he put his hands on me he knew he did the wrong thing and that is why he reacted the way he did. The police understood the problem and asked me when would you like to pick your things up? I told him" the following Monday" I did go back Monday with my Daughter. He put all my things outside, Animals are treated better. Now something else was missing that was there on the 18th when he told me to leave his store. I asked the lady outside the store "Where is my Baltimore comforter set? She told me " It went to charity" Now the owner new I was going to pickup my things in a few days and just for spite he did something with it. I told the lady that works there" that i have a lawyer and iI need to know where the charity is so I can retrieve my things" She told me they use a church called Crossroads fellowship. I asked her for a phone number she told me "they do not have the phone number" On my way driving to the church she called me back and told me that she would get my things back and not to go to the Church because they most likely wont let me in. The same woman that works there called me Monday and told me she has every thing. I told her " I would pick them up Tuesday" Wow!! They appeared again!! What I just wrote in my review is the truth I am a Christian woman and I know for certain I could not live with my self with all that I stated if it was not true. And all the other bad reviews I have read also happened to me. So please stay clear of this consignment shoppe. P.S. The duvet had no stain as owner stated it did.

Agree with other poster-BEWARE – I totally agree with the previous poster! That was my exact experience. I have been consigning with Passage for a few months. The last two times I went in to pick up the items that did not sell, I searched the store and did not find about 25-35 items! I was told this was highly unusual. Later I was told all my items got donated to charity by mistake! They donate antying you don't pick up in time but I was always on time to pick up my items. I was given some money but it was only my items at 75% off minus 50%! What a huge dissapointment and when I had to confront the staff about some other missing items I was given the run around several times and was spoken to very rudely and disrespectully and was made to feel I was being a pain in the butt for wanting my items back at all. About 99% of their consigners allow them to donate their goods at the end of consignment so when to their suprise I did come in to try to get my items, the only excuse they had was that they gave me items away by accident. Pathetic! I ought to report this business to the BBB but I did sign their contract that says if theft does occur, it is too bad for the consignor.

BEWARE Horrible for Consignors – If you are interested in selling your things here, find somewhere else. If you are just going to shop it's not bad.

Unless you don't have any interest in knowing what happens to your stuff and how much they sold if for DON'T consign here.

Here's how Passages works, you bring your stuff to them, they go through and decide what they think they can sell for and give you back what is leftover. So far, so good but thats where it ends.

They do not give you any kind of receipt that they have your items, one slip of paper is attached to ALL your items behind a counter so if it gets misplaced you are out of luck, at that point they have no way of knowing who owns what. I suspect that has happened more than once, but since you are not given any kind of access as to what sold, what was reduced after a few weeks or what went to Good Will you just have to take their word for it. Your word against theirs if your stuff vanishes. Which brings me to the next Red Flag.

I had consigned there for more than a year, I brought household items, FURNITURE, clothes you name it. Obviously the furniture items sold since they accepted them on the spot, and I noticed they were no longer on the floor about 2 weeks later. Shame on me for not getting the money right away but I deceided to "let it ride" as they always say there and didn't even inquire as to how much they got for all the furniture . My bad.

When I did go in a month or 2 later, I was anticipating a substantial amount of $ on my account (Again, you can not access anything , you have to go down and ask them) Imagine my surprise when they told me I had $36.00 on account.

$36.00 DOLLARS????!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They sold my furniture, upscale house holditems and a ton of clothes...even if everything I ever brought them sold for 75% off there is no way it only equaled $36.00 after their cut. When I said that could not be possible, I was basically told that's what it is take it or leave it.

I know I can't be the only person this ever happened to...when I was there there was a woman inquiring about her balance, she was told $142...she said " $142.00? Great", the the woman behind the counter said, "No, $1.42" You could tell the woman was stunned, but honestly I was wakling out of the store when it happened so I don't know what happened after she got over her shock.

Red Flag #2, when you sign the consignment agreement you are given a card, it clearly states on it that after a 7 days grace period, beyond the initial 60 day consignment, if you do not pick the unsold items it "will be donated to local charitable organization, IN YOUR NAME AND WE WIL MAIL YOU THE TAX RECEIPT. " I have never once received any receipt from Passages let alone for tax purposes.

Take a pass on Passages and go somewhere else.
