Very helpful staff – I didn't know anything about the martial arts, but soon after joining, the owner and all the instructors were very helpful. Whenever I needed to be shown something, all the staff made time for me. I was even given printed material. Classes are fun, and the people are very warm. You can't beat their fees, either. All the other martial art schools charged almost twice as much. They do stuff for charity too.

Best karate school in Raleigh – I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about some fundamental truths at Red Sun Academy. As a member for almost 6 years, I can truly say my involvement with the Sensei and the other instructors and students makes my life more enjoyable, fulfilling and changed for the better. The level of honor, respect and integrity, along with dedication to the art is remarkable. Whether you are 5 or 55, there is a program there to meet your needs. Instructors are true teachers, dedicated to the improvement of skills and attitude, with everyone allowed to work at their own pace instead of constantly facing the pressure of having to keep up with others. The Sensei is a 5th degree black belt, who leads with honor and respect for all with integrity that is beyond reproach. Recently inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame, she is committed to the art and development of not only karate skills, but life skills as well. Her approach with no contracts and fees at approximately half the going rate at other skills demonstrates she is not a commercial school, but one dedicated to affordability, allowing many people to attend, learn and grow that might not be able to particpate otherwise. She has my respect and commitment and I look forward to continuing to grow as a member of the Red Sun family.

The Red Sun Academy School of Martial Arts, is an amazing safe, fun and nurturing environment. – As a single parent is very comforting to know my daughter is in the best Martial Arts Academy!

My daughter (13 yrs) has been attending The Red Sun Academy for nearly two years. Through the friendships and skills she has learned at Red Sun, my daughter has more self-confidence and self-esteem. In addition to learning karate, the school has some great extra-curricular activities for students as well as parents. We often go to the cook-outs, movies or students night out. It?s really a second family to us.

Our Sensei has earned mine and my daughters trust, confidence and respect. My daughter has learned much more from her then just Martial Arts, but how to be kind and considerate to others, caring, and mostly respect fun for herself as well as others. For my daughter to have such an incredible roll model is very comforting.

I feel 100 percent confident that when my daughter attends class she is at the best Martial Arts school in the Raleigh Durham area.

It?s truly a wonderful place, and I wanted to publicly express my sincere appreciation for Red Sun, the teachers, and mostly our Sensei!

Thank you Red Sun for all you do! >';'<

Best karate school in Raleigh – As a member of Red Sun for a number of years, the last review simply cannot stand without a comment. Red Sun Academy is without a doubt the finest school in the Raleigh area. Why else would countless black belts move from other schools to Red Sun, and learn under the Sensei there? Her level of honesty, integrity and honor is beyond reproach. She was recently inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame and was featured in a recent edition of the News and Observer, recognizing that achievement.

The boy who wrote the review had his black belt revoked. They are the vindictive actions of a child. whose closing comment fuither demonstrates a malicious intent and the review should be ignored in its entirity

This individual continues to send harrassing and profane e-mails to the Sensei

Best in the Triangle – When my little boy told me that he wanted to take karate lessons for his birthday, My husband an I started looking at schools immediatley. My husband and I went to 6 different schools in the Triangle area and we found Red Sun Academy to be the best school that met our criteria. My son has started taking the kids class and he absolutely adores it. Each child gets individual attention and is coached to reach specific goals. The kids class instructors are wonderful, one is a devoted student and the other is a YMCA youth counselor, so the class is in good hands. The kids are involded in both physical and mental exercises. The children also learn how to handle emergencies (bullies, strangers, etc.) My son has been taking classes at Red Sun for three months and I have noticed a positive change in behavior both at school and at home. There are no contracts or hidden costs, no pressured sales, and they have a freindly and devoted staff. I f you want your child to learn self defense, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!!

Give it a try – Hello Poohjunkie,

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit to Red Sun Academy (RSA).

You are absolutely correct. You -- and everyone -- are entitled to your own observations and no one has the right to infer or tell you otherwise. However I humbly ask you to please hear me out before you dismiss us.

I have studied karate for the last 7 years, 2 of them at RSA. My 12 y.o. son is a student there as well. I have also been the head instructor for the kid's RSA class for the last 8 months. So yes, you can say I'm bias, too.

Unless one is sick, the class is normally taught by the main instructor (me - age 44) and 2 assistant teachers, (age 48 and 20). Most days we have a 3-4 kids per teacher ratio, so each student gets plenty of individual attention. They need plenty of it considering the short attention span 4-7 y.o children typically have. This kind of attention, by the way, is extremely rare at other schools.

Our curriculum is very rich based on several Martial Arts styles. We teach technique and how to use it but for their age we mostly emphasize awareness and self-defense. We believe that even if a 7 y.o. was a small ?Bruce Lee? in technique, he would never be able to out-strength an adult but he could sure run, scream, kick or bite where it would be most effective, but only IF he realized the danger and had been taught how to handle it.

You saw us playing games during you visit. Yes, we usually have at least one fun activity in every class. All of them usually involve working up a good sweat or practicing concentration and awareness. We believe that karate is not a regimented sport but a fun way for kids to gain confidence, to achieve excellent fitness, balance and coordination, and to learn control and respect to self and others.

So I wish you would consider visiting us again. I invite you and your young child to take a free class, to see and feel what I am talking about.

Hope to see you there.

Respectfully,

YinYang

GREAT school – My child is in the class and absolutely loves it. Having a black belt myself, I see that my son has learned good form. Also, courtesy in the home is stressed here. They do NOT just play games, not by any means. Sometimes, people come in and watch only for 5 or 10 minutes, leave, and form opinions. I have come to Red Sun now for years, and find it the best school in the triangle area. Other schools are commercial and do things to get your money. With this school, all the teachers are most caring.

What an Awesome School! – Joining this Martial Arts Academy was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The students at Red Sun Academy are warm, friendly, and caring. You feel like apart of a family. I am now the Asstistant Instructor for the kids class. In our kid's class, we push the kids to reach their full potential. The city-search member: Pooh Junkie, (another person who wrote a review), She stayed and watched our class for less than five minutes. She did not even bring her child in to watch the class. Our goal at Red Sun Academy is to develop children to be confident, respectful, and honorable martial artists. We also teach the children life skills, such as, Never get in a car with a stranger, and how to dial 911. We do various drills in our class (kicking, hand strikes, and self defense manuevers.) Another great aspect of Red Sun Academy is that there are NO CONTRACTS and NO HIDDEN FEES. All of the teachers at Red Sun Academy are always trying to bring out the best in their students. They also have a Great fitness Class. What an Awesome School

To Surferdude - should not accuse if you do not know – To the Surferdude - please do not accuse if you are not sure. My child and both parents watched the class- for half an hour and made that determination. Futhermore, when we went to watch, it was taught by some kid, so it is like a kid teaching a kid. I wanted my child to have an adult role model not a big brother to play with. I do not care what you said is taught - apparently your opionions are biased. I do not want to have a big discussion here. We are all entitled to our opinions.

You are correct that the teachers seem friendly and overall, people were friendly and helpful

Great traditional school for the price – For the price and the quality of instruction you received, you are getting your money's worth. It is an excellent traditional karate school that instills respect to others, discipline and philosophy. All the instructors are very good teachers. The instructor in charge, Sensei has ways of bringing out your potential to do the best you can. When you walk in, you will be greeted by a friendly staff and Jody, the school mascot. If Jody likes you, you have a friend for life. You feel part of a family.
