Thieves! Stay away!. DO NOT buy from this company. And if you do, DO NOT trade in your vacuum or allow their finance company to automatically withdraw from your account.

They showed up at my door one day in February. Stayed for nearly 4 hours. I told them I couldn't afford it. They kept trying to lower the price. Supper was done, my kids hadn't eaten and they still wouldn't leave. I finally agreed.

The next day I realized I'd done a stupid thing and I just could not afford the payments. Plus, the Kirby is really complicated and the more I looked at it, the more of a pain it seemed to be.

So I followed the instructions on the contract and terminated it via telegram in the time frame allowed. Thank goodness I paid the extra for certified copies of the telegram and proof of delivery because after a week of not hearing anything from them I called them. After not receiving an answer and voice-mail being full I found another number that had been handwritten at the top of one of the papers. I called that and low and behold they had moved(they are in Independence now) and "never received" the telegram. Too bad for them I had proof of the cancellation and the the fact that it was sent to the address on the contract. I faxed it to her and she said she would get ahold of the financing company and someone would be out to pick up the Kirby. A few calls later and the middle of March they finally come to get the Kirby.

They also brought a piece of junk vacuum that was -not- mine. They insisted on leaving it here for my use until they found mine even though I told them I did not want it. They -did- return the $100 down payment I had made.

Several calls later in which they told me they would be out to give me my vacuum back and a report to BBB (which they have not responded to) it's nearly the middle of April and I still do not have my vacuum back. I have to borrow vacuums to keep my floor clean. I have not touched the one they left here.. and couldn't use it even if I wanted to because it's so completely clogged up. They're not returning my calls. And on the 1st, the finance company charged my account for the first payment.

Smyth will not get in contact with them to tell them the contract was canceled and they won't give me my money back or stop charging me. I had to go through my bank to dispute the charge and spend yet more money to put a stop payment on the charges.

Please, stay away from this company! I only wish I had seen all of the horrible reviews for all of the Kirby sellers, including this one, before even letting them in my door.

And if anyone knows a lawyer that can help me, I'm in the process of looking.
