Wow! I am really surprised at all the negative reviews. I have to wonder if they are all for the Wang's on Atlantic (there are lot's of Wang's Kitchens around Raleigh that are all unrelated).
We order from here all of the time and have for years. Even though we live at least 15 minutes from Wang's, our food always arrives fresh. In the countless times we have ordered from them, they have never left anything out, and I can only recall one mistake.
I suppose the egg rolls are a little greasy, but I love them! They are always crispy and delicious. Our favorites are any of the soups, the House Fried Rice (!!!) and the Chinese-style Buffalo Wings (simply amazing!). We have never had anything that wasn't good. We have also ordered custom dishes for the picky-eater of the house, and they have always been accommodating and prepared the dishes exactly as asked. We love this place - in fact, we are waiting for a delivery right now!
FOOD SUCKS – Delivery was timely, thats the only thing good about and they delivery. Other then that the food taste like they cook rice and pour ssoy sauce all over. The egg rool was fried in old grease. The food wasn't fresh, I had spit it out a wast of 16.20. The Delivery mad spolied my mood to, he look nasty and was dirt. They should have told me then. not to eat the food. Its in the trash..DO NOT ORDER..waste of money
Atrocious customer service – I'm not surprised by all the negative reviews. Last night, I ordered the the fried dumplings which were pretty good and the beef and broccoli was acceptable (nothing special) but for $15.29 I expected better (+$2.00 delivery for total of $17.29). I figured I'd give them another shot tonight. Well, they forgot my egg roll last night and I assumed they would make good on it this time. To my surprise I was told I would not get one since I did not call back last night. Really? Way to lose a potential regular over $2 when it was your mistake. You guys will not be in business long.
Good, basic take-out – I can only speak for the take out. The service was quick, food was reasonably priced & reasonably tasty/hot. Overall I would recommend this place, based on my couple of experiences with their take out.
Awesome – The food was great. Best Chinese I have had. Service was attentive and adequate. I will be returning and would recommend to all my friends. Not the best location but for the value and quality food worth the drive
Horrible ethics, DONT TRUST THEM! – I had ordered the Pork Lo Mein last night and i got here pretty quick. I was originally charged $22.88 and was called back asking for my card again because they forgot to add in the deliery charge (after that it was $25.08). I was okay with that because they told me and they said they were going to bring the voided receipt with them when they deliver. Well i look at my account this morning and I was charged $255.08, $15, $22.88, AND $25.08! Total was $297 and change! I can understand if it was a mistake but there were a tatol of 3 mistakes and i only knew of 1, and one was $255!! To mke it even worse, they didnt even tell me. They knew last night that it happened and they didn't tell me they ade the mistake. I would have appreciated a warning and the voided receipts. When I called owner all he could say was "they were voided last night". No compensation and didnt even really know anything about the credit card machine. He had no idea what an authentication number is on a receipt! Simple...its the number you get when a card has been approved or denied. I would think as an owner of a business that he would know what he was doing. I had to call my bank and they hads to fix it. Botom line, they REALLY overcharged me and they didn't have the decency to call and tell me, insead I had to get a shiock when i woke up and checked my account. REDICULOUS!!!!
On top of all that, the food had a chemical taste to it, nkinda like lighter flui but not as strong. That is the second time I ordered from there (and had something different both times) and it tasted like that. I know none of the ffod they cooked with was fresh because it tasted frozen and i know what fresh restaurant food tastes like, i worked in one for 2 yrs and we use fresh food every morning).
I will more than likely not orer from there again. If you order from there, I would go to order it at the restaurant and watch them cook it and watch them add up everything and charge it or just plain pay cash. I wouldnt recommen this place to anyone, and I WAS a wang's fan.
Average Food – This was the second time I ordered from Wang's. The first time I ordered their authentic Chinese noodle soup, crab rangoon, and Mongolian style beef. When my order arrived, the driver had dropped the bag and the soup and sauce had spilled out all over the inside of the bag and contents. The soup was excellent, full of fresh vegies and rich broth. The crab rangoon was cream cheese and sugar, no crab or seasoning at all. The Mongolian beef was more salty than anything else.
Today, we ordered two lunch specials, Kung Pao Chicken, crab rangoon, and Chicken Lo Mein. I asked for low salt entrees. I was not asked how hot I wanted the chicken and it was very salty. The chicken was not fresh, but frozen pre-breaded chicken pieces. The sauce was thick and I counted a meager 9 peanut halves, no green onions, no fresh garlic, no vegies. We set aside the Lo Mein for later, so I can't comment on it now. Their was no improvement on the crab rangoon. The egg rolls that came with the meals were typical of Chinese restaurants that think Americans don't know the difference between good Chinese and cheap Chinese - salty and crammed with dry cabbage. We have spent over $50.00 on 2 deliveries from this restaurant, including tips.
Would I recommend this restaurant? As ordinary Chinese food goes, if you are incredibly hungry, go for it. If you order the soup, you probably can't go wrong. It is bland, but delicious. Overall rating, 4 out of 10.
