Looking back on the entire situation, I should have left half way through the service because it was that terrible. I would have saved myself the embarrassment of looking like I shaved myself in the dark with a dull razor and no shaving cream.
I went into the barbershop looking for a neck shave, I asked if that was a service they provided and without hesitation the young barber said yes. The barber did a regular beard trim using a dull neck edger the entire time which was extremely painful. After he was finished he asked if I still wanted him to use a razor.... Seeing as that is why I came into the barbershop in the first place I said yes, he left me in the chair for 10 minutes while he went outside... or down the street without telling me where he was going. When he returned he shaved my neck with yet another dull straight razor which left me bleeding all over. He handed me the mirror and asked if I bled like that every time, in which I replied... "No." ... He then said that the reason for my neck bleeding was because I had bumps... of which I don't have any. The real reason behind my neck being cut was because he used a dull neck edger to shave my face thinking that I'd be satisfied without the neck shave which I asked for upon entering the store. Anyone knows if you try to shave someone's face with a dull neck edger you are going to irritate the skin... He should have left the hot towel on my face longer than 15 seconds in attempts to soothe the irritated skin (which he didn't). To go back and shave with a DULL straight edge is asking for cuts (also he clearly didn't know how to use a straight edge). This was the worst experience I have ever had at a barbershop. The barber charged me 10 dollars when the sign says 7.
While they have a clear sign that says no cursing, the barbers regularly use the N word.
My advice to anyone looking for a barbershop... Drive as far as it takes to get to another barbershop... or do it yourself at home.
Women beware!!....they gossip too.. – The barbers there arent aware that some of the clients they have either in their chair or waiting have a good sense of hearing and can "read between the lines". I overheard a situation where the barbers were trying to determine in subliminal conversation whether a young lady coming in for a cut (tapering) was a man or a women. She had a short cut and had a nice figure and her facial features were defined with the high cheek bones but she was a beautiful young lady. Being that I was a female waiting for my son..Im not sure if the young lady was aware of the conversation, but I felt it was very unprofessional, especially for the sake of clients that were in their chairs being serviced. It wasnt until the young lady was done with her service and she got up to walk away (cause they were checking her as she walked away), they were agreeing that that yeah she was a woman. Men there is a time and a place for conversations such as this and when its at the expense of someone who just may come in and sit in YOUR chair and pay you for your service, you could be much more professional by conducting yourselves accordingly. On that note, I give them a thumbs down.
