Bailey's created a one of a kind pendant for me and I could not be happier. The designer, Eric, was very patient while I tried several different sketches. Once I decided on the design he created exactly what I had asked for. I would recommend Baileys to anyone looking for a jeweler who cares about their customers.
May be fine for some people....
I went into Bailey's in Cameron Village today excited to be shopping for a "Promise Ring" for my partner's Christmas Present/Engagement ring. Since this is a big purchase I have shopped two of the other "big name" jewelers and found one ring I really liked, but thought Bailey's would have an alternative to price. My salesperson didn't know what a Promise Ring is and I had to explain it to her. Warning signal number one. Then she drug me all over the store before asking me exactly what it was I was looking for. After two explanations (warning signal number 2) she finally got it and then proceeded to get another salesperson. This gentleman was gave off the attitude that he was put off by my being there (three strikes). My first salesperson assured me Bailey's could get a similar ring at a better price, but this guy half-heartedly listened and then then told me anything they got would be in the same price range. Original sales lady looked horrified and I got it. My business wasn't wanted there. Fine. I told them I would go to the other place. The sales guy seemed pleased and the sales lady seemed rather aghast at the whole scene. It's a shame this store doesn't seem to want business from the Gay community. Our dollars spend just like anyone else. Oh and if Bailey's folks read this, I was planning to spend over $4K, so your competition got the money. My recommendation -- go in, see how they treat you. If you're treated with dignity and respect and you find something you love, buy it. If like me, you're NOT treated with dignity or respect, go elsewhere.
Attention engagement ring buyers: read this and then go to Bailey's with the utmost confidence to get that perfect ring.
Buying an engagement ring is an overwhelming and emotional process. When my fiance and I - both natives of Philadelphia - began searching for rings in our native city, we went about it completely romantically, with little knowledge about diamonds or settings. While the solitaire emerald cut ring we ended up selecting was gorgeous, it was filled with flaws and it proved to be a nightmare. That's where Bailey's came in and saved the day... TWICE.
First, I almost lost the diamond when my setting completely shifted. Our original jeweler tried to blame it on me ("It must have been subject to an abrasive hit"), but I was fairly confident that my actions that day wouldn't have done a thing. We sent it back to him to fix and in the process added two side trapezoids, an addition we had talked about doing at some point down the line anyway. The product he returned to us was horrible: there were spaces between the three diamonds; the prongs were incongruous and sloppy; the two trapezoids were slightly different in size and cut... his job looked rushed and inconsiderate despite the fact that we were already worried and weary after our first setting's mishap.
We decided to head to Bailey's, a jeweler we had heard about just after moving to Raleigh, and there Eric Clemente was to save the day. He confirmed our fears from the prior jeweler - in short, he did a terrible job and the whole ring had to be re-set. Eric did EVERYTHING to make me feel confident in what he could do, which at that time I needed more than anything, and he didn't let me down. The resulting setting was absolutely perfect. He kept me updated throughout the three-week process and had sent me renderings of what the ring would look like prior to producing it. When I went to pick up the ring, Bailey's made me feel like it was Christmas morning. It was better than that. Eric is brilliant.
The second issue we had with the ring was something we planned to address after the wedding: upgrading the diamond from a J color, which in the world of emerald cuts isn't ideal. So when we went back to Bailey's a few weeks ago to look at bands, we started talking with Nancy about our diamond exchange options. She pulled in GIA expert, Dana, to help. I can't emphasize enough how WONDERFUL these two ladies were to work with. First of all, never once did they make us feel silly or embarassed - their only goal was to make us happy and they didn't force us into happiness either. They brought in several emerald cuts with various colors and clarities to compare, and gave us ample time to let the information marinate without trying to sell us. They listened to exactly what we wanted in terms of specifications and price and they delivered. And that, for us, meant so much. The whole process took three weeks and never once during that time did Nancy or Dana make us feel pressured. They remained consistently engaged in us and this experience, and their continued support resulted in my dream ring. The day we selected that diamond, I was able to walk out with it on my finger and we could not be happier.
Ring buyers, based on our experience, I highly recommend you go somewhere you can trust. Our ring story finally has a happy ending, but it took some time (and money) to get us there. Had we had the support and resources we did at Bailey's from the get-go, we would have never had any issues.

FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE at Bailey's!!!
My fiance and I had a HORRIBLE experience with a run of the mill mall jewelry store. First, they set the engagement ring that he had got me crooked in the setting and and after we had it appraised (which they DID NOT include with the ring or a certification) we had warning bells going off. So after a tearful conversation we made the decision to take back the ring back.
We then began our journey to find another diamond. I spent countless hours scouring the internet learning the most that I could possibly learn about diamonds and their certifications. I learned the crown and pavilion angles, along with table/depth percentages and what determine the sparkle and "fire" of a diamond and its performance. I learned about every possible certification and the dangers of not choosing the standard in the industry. I wanted to be the most informed buyer that I could possibly be, after all this is a forever ring!
We started shopping for a diamond online with several brokers and locally for the most perfectly cut diamond. All of the diamonds I looked at were GIA graded "triple ex." My fiance had went to Diamonds Direct but didn't like the pushy sales tactics that they used. I thought we should still take a look at them again....boy was I DISAPPOINTED. The sales lady told me that all of the research I had done was "CRAP" and that we couldn't do any better than the one diamond that she showed us. After looking at the crown and pavilion angles, I could tell that this tripe ex certified GIA diamond was on the fringe of that certification. I wrote down the specifications that I wanted in my diamond down to the range of the percentages for the crown and pavilion angles. She then looked at me like I was crazy and pretty much said we could leave the store because what I was asking for was impossible. Now folks, it wasn't impossible because there are tons of diamonds out there, you just have to look for them. Needless to say, after being insulted we wouldn't consider buying anything from these people even when they knock a grand off of the price. It isn't always about price but customer service and standing behind your product.
I had called Bailey's in Cameron Village and spoke with Nancy H. on the phone and told her everything I was looking for. She assured me that they could help and appreciated the fact that I was such an informed buyer. As soon as we walked into Bailey's, we felt welcomed and relaxed...you could feel the family atmosphere here folks. We looked at several diamonds and Nancy even brought Josh B in to help answer my MANY questions. I didn't see anything that was telling me this was the one but both Nancy and Josh had patience with me. They brought in 3 other diamonds for me to take a look at a few days later and I found the ONE!
The diamond Bailey's found was the very best of GIA "triple ex" and was proportionately...perfect! The absolute best cut. Trust me, there's a huge difference. This ring sparkles like no other ring that we had looked at. I of course had to go online to do my price analysis to their competitors and the price was pretty darn competitive to Blue Nile or White Flash.
I am a very hard customer to please and I care A LOT about customer service and the value a company brings to the table. We couldn't be happier with the service that we received from Nancy/Josh and the team. We will definitely be a Bailey's customer for life!
Amazing Service – Shopping at Bailey's is always a joy, but particularly so the other day. Katie at the Pandora counter is precious. She was sweet, helpful and patient as I labored over making a decision. She offered a great suggestion, which I am very happy with!!

Fantastic place! – I am a new customer to Bailey's. I have purchased two Pandora bracelets at bailey's and the service I received was wonderful. Erin was the best! The staff is knowledgable about hte Pandora line, which also helped me become knowledgable. Again, I just want to give them a shout out...they are the best. The whole staff is great!
Customer service not so good – I took my watch in for a repair and was given what I thought was a high quote. But, I decided that’s OK. It might be worth a little more for a local, certified, reputable dealer. I wouldn’t have to worry about shipping costs, long turn around time, etc. I was told it might take up to two weeks and that someone would call me when it was ready for pickup. Here’s where the problem starts. After two weeks I called and was told it wasn't ready. OK, I’m thinking it’s just taking a couple of extra days. No problem. Well, after four weeks I hadn’t heard anything so I called again. I was told that it would be ready by the end of the week (this was on a Monday) and someone would call me. So it's now been six weeks and I'm still waiting. This is completely unacceptable in my opinion and provided there are no problems with the repair when I do get it back, I’ll be going somewhere else, if needed, in the future.
I feel I should follow up my earlier review. I received a call from Jason at Bailey's and could tell that he had a genuine concern, not just a cursory interest, in this situation. He assured me that this was atypical of their customer service and he would address whatever caused this. I met Jason when I picked up my watch and found him to be as genuine in person as he was on the phone. He admitted this should not have occurred and went above and beyond what I expected to reestablish my confidence in Bailey's.
Bait and Switch – We had an extremely disappointing experience with our Valentine's Day 2011 prize gift card. We brought it to the Cameron Village store in March and were told 'congratulations, you won the grand prize!' ($500). We asked if we could come back and use it for a special occasion, and they said that we could use it any time. My guy brought it to the store yesterday, and the employees acted like they had no idea what he was talking about. A total bait and switch, and we have no recourse because we didn't think to have the original conversation put in writing.
We will not be back, and I urge others to be wary of these 'prize' gimmicks this year.
