My husband and I went there. This was not our first time. But now I think non-Americans are invisible to the staff. No one noticed us for some time. We ordered heart-stopper and 2 pizza slices with vegetarian toppings. Total bill was about $21 and I put $3 as tip even we were ordering over the counter. We were served slices with uncooked toppings. This place has board over counter "Never question cook's judgement" I thought these guys must be really good at what they do so better not to question them. This must be their new cooking style to serve pizza slice with uncooked toppings. But when I went back to get the box for leftovers I realized other people were having slices with fully baked toppings.
I asked person who prepared our order that why we were served uncooked toppings. He did not accept the fact first he said"We don't saute them before we put them to bake. If you want that way you can tell us and we can saute it. I am sorry for that" I told him "Its not about sauteing vegetables but the toppings were raw and I can show you that" I went out and return with the box to show him what we were served. He was away from counter and came back after long time. I told him we did not question about it first as we read your board about not to question cook's judgement. He was angry by now and shouted " That is sarcasm. What do you want me to do now about it? " I said "I can't tell you what you need to do. I am letting you know what we were served" He said rudely" Oh so you are telling me this for future reference! Ok thanks I will keep this in mind." I said" I am not coming back here." He remarked" That will be fine with us too" He was rude and unapologetic during our conversation.
In the end, when we left we decided that we are not going to visit them again. We felt he did that on purpose and not feeling apologetic about it. This is not the way anyone would like to be treated after tipping ~15% for counter service. Other places who got good business ethics might have offered refund or some other service to compensate their negligence. But I guess this is how it works for Ruckus Pizza!
Pfeh...should have stayed home – I've never been to an open mic night before, so when I saw it on the Poynt app on my Android, I thought it'd be fun to check it out-that there was food and beer was only icing on the cake.
Unfortunately, I never got to sample any of it.
At about 9:30, I walked in and sat down at one of the many empty tables across the aisle from the bar. I looked at the menu and had long since decided what I wanted to eat when I started wondering whether or not they were still serving food, as nobody had approached me about an order. There was loud music playing, but they hadn't yet "opened" the mic. There was a small group at the bar, but neither of the two bartender-types, nor the fellow who appeared to be the kitchen guy seemed so busy that they wouldn't have noticed someone new sitting down.
After making sure to read the front of the menu thoroughly, and that it did, indeed, say that they served at least some kinds of food til 1 ayem, 7 days a week, I started looking around. I refuse to wave a server down-I should never have to, especially considering they weren't all that busy. Instead I tried for more polite eye contact, but it appeared that the two bartenders, especially, were more interested in either shouting about touching family members inappropriately (not kidding), hugging people at the bar (a few strides from me, if that-he came all the way around to MY side of the bar to hug this person) or eating what appeared to be fries or chips. To his credit, the kitchen guy might have been into something (work-related), but I really couldn't tell.
All three of them seemed to be making a concerted effort NOT to notice me. Finally I got up and went to the large window at the front of the restaurant where Kitchen Guy was working. I asked if they were still serving food, and he began with a yes, but only if I promised not to ask for anything too complicated-I got the impression he'd packed most or part of the kitchen away.
I told him I'd been sitting at the table for 10 minutes and nobody had said a word to me the whole time, and he told me that they don't do table service, that you have to either tell him or go to the bar.
Hrm. I must've missed that memo.
Dude was very nice when we talked, and I think he might (?) have regretted that I'd had a bad experience, but I didn't stick around.
I live in a small town about 40 minutes from Raleigh, so I was not just dropping by on a whim. I went to this place ON PURPOSE, to have beer and pizza, and to have a good time watching people sing.
I've worked in retail for many years and my best friend is an experienced server. I think she'd agree that allowing any customer-and especially one who might have made a weekly habit out of Tuesday nights at Ruckus-to sit unacknowledged on a night no busier than tonight is just bad form.
Really bad form.
All they had to do was say hello. I would have been perfectly agreeable when it came to asking for uncomplicated food, and it would have been really nice to have been approached at my table and educated in their process for future reference. Unfortunately, not one of them could bring themselves to start that conversation with me.
Well we had a meeting about your review this morning. Ruckus prides itself on GREAT customer service. Several of our staff failed on this night. Please contact me to discuss and for my staff to make this right. Open Mic is a very fun night at Ruckus.
The worst of everything – Cramped: Tables are placed end to the bar so patrons are constantly getting bumped into.
Food: eh, it's bar food, can't complain too much but some of the prices are a little unfair considering it's pizza and greeezy sammiches.
Staff: Usually when ordering a meal, you are given your check when you are done. It is a little odd to get it as soon as you order. How am I supposed to tip? i have no idea what the service is going to be like. And then moan that I still have your pen? Bring the check at the proper time and you can only be sans pen for a minute.
location: if you are in southwest raleigh, NC state area, you can probably find 5 other pizza places that will fill the bill.
WOW! – Read so many great reviews on this place...what a disappointment. First it was hard to find, crammed into the corner of the shopping center. Not at all what it looked like on the website. Once inside, cashier was more interested in talking about today was his Thursday rather than taking my order and chit chatting. "Ozzy Osborne" playing loudly and MTV on the TV...sound overload! Sat outside. Waited for 15 minutes for our food to come out and had ordered a "WRAP" and then it was not the right order. It was sitting inside amoungst all the pizzas. Guess I am either too old for this place or ordered the "wrong" thing. Pizza and college boys was all I saw at this establishment.
It seems you found our Ruckus Pizza & Bar College restaurant in Mission Valley instead of our Ruckus Pizza, Pasta & Spirits restaurant in Tryon Village Shopping Center. This one is much larger and a bit nicer. It's at the corner of Tryon and Walnut street in the Harris Teeter Shopping Center.
Please give us a try.

This is an awesome spot for some cold beers and good bar food. Will stop by again to expand furthur into the menu. I didn't really get to ask questions about it but i'm excited to, because everything I tried was awesome!
Ruckus Pizza, Pasta, Spirits and Burgers? – From the gigantic 24" square pizza to the burgers and mahi mahi you'll love everything on the menu. They have healthier options as well such as chicken wraps and iceberg lettuce salads.
Daily drink specials to accommodate the savvy shopper and buy a pint keep the glass Thursdays.
Cool little hole-in-the-wall – This is a cute little place tucked in a corner near the NC State area. The new location in Cary is much more stylish, but this place has a lot of character. The food is awesome, from the pizza to the calzones to the subs, etc. And although potentially a bit difficult, there are coupons to be found to get an even cheaper price than they offer. Their specials are the way to go to get great food for cheap. Fun place.
The parm sandwiches are good, but dont order the burgers! – We go the Ruckus in Cary, which is run by the same people I understand. They have pretty decent italian sandwitches. Pizza is so so, but man, the hamburgers are AWFUL. Dry and small and tasted like they were reheated in a microwave. But if you are looking to have some cold beers, maybe some bar food, and don't want to spend a ton of money, its a great place!
Good Eats – I ate here after a few beers and it hit the spot. Good service and good atmospere.
Great Food, Friendly Staff, Simply Best Pizza!!!! – Truly awesome pizza and love the lettuce wedge!!!! The staff is always friendly and the food hot and fresh. We bypass several pizza restaurants to frequent this one in Cary because we love the atmosphere, food, and friendliness of staff and owners. Truly the best!!!!!!! Wish it was closer.
