Our furnace was out and it was -13 degrees outside so we were desperate, AHS assigned Guaranteed Heating and Cooling for the job. I received a call from one of the technicians named Andrew Tichenor and from the very beginning he was bad. He showed up in a car (no spare parts) not a van and when he walked in from the snow he had no shoe covers nor wiped his feet. He didn't even greet me. I knew the problem was a bad Furnace blower but it took Andrew a half hour to some up with the diagnosis. He proceeded to leave my house with the entire blower assembly. He came back 4 hours later and installed the new unit and when the furnace fired up, you could hear a loud 'whine' noise like an alarm. We asked him about it and he communicated that he heard nothing, our furnace was old and bad (even though I get it serviced twice a year but he didn't know that) and was very rude to my wife and I. Due to the loud whining sound we couldn't sleep when the furnace kicked on, so we called AHS and I called the owner of Guaranteed, Ben. It was a terrible experience. AHS dispatched a second try for Guaranteed and Ben did come out and was very personable, it took him 15 minutes explaining to me what he thought the problem was. And yes, he heard the loud whining sound. He brought us a new blower motor (we weren't sure if the blower motor from before was installed correctly, used one, new?). Ben installed the new blower in my house, was very professional, and when he fired up the furnace, it was very quiet. So I thank Ben but we still have a very bad taste in our mouth on how Andrew Tichenor was so unprofessional and had poor customer service. We believe he did not know what he was doing and installed it improperly. All he needed to do was acknowledge the problem and fix it like his boss but he was a poor service technician. Ben was great but his staff is very poor.
I called this company asking for a price to replace the capacitor. The gentleman who answered the phone was nice and said he would have someone meet me at my home. I agreed and they said they would call me when he was 30 min away. I got the call, arrived at home and the service tech was already here. He was talking on his cell phone with his bag in hand. He started to walk toward the back of the house, I stopped him, again he was talking on his cell phone, sounded personal, I however told him I wanted to know a price before he set his tools down. He said let me take a look but still was talking on his phone. We get back to the unit, it clicks, humms, he hangs up his call and says it is the capacitor. I said I know, and before we do anything I want to know how much to replace it. He says $385.00. I said no way, he said how much do you want to pay. I thought about it and said. $130.00. I told him the part was about $30 and $100 labor was fair. He said what, I cant charge make money on the part? I said you asked me how much I wanted to pay, I told you. He said, you are out of your mind, write me a check for $95 for my service fee and I will be on my way. I said, no way on the service fee, this is why I asked for a price before you even came out. I asked for a price before you walked to the back of the house. Now you say $385.00 for a service that the part is $30.00. He said he could fix it in less than 15min, and I said, that is what I am talking about, you want $385.00 for a 15min job. He called me a few names and left. You decide, is this the type of business you would like to service your equipment? Would you trust them? I think you can tell what my thoughts are.
After looking a the reviews I don't know what they are talking about. Looked them up with the better business bureauro before I hired them, A rating. Guaranteed was great, did a good job selling me only what I needed. There was one small problem with the install that was fixed right away.
The bad reviews below were the only reviews posted by those accounts, in one case the "person" posted more than one negative review about Guaranteed.
poor service – Service from this company may have been good at one time, but it is a nightmare now.
BEWARE! Price Gouging. – BEWARE! Price gouging. My AC unit was freezing up and I paid $95 for a service call to tell me the coil was dirty and needed clean. My service guy, Mike, then tells me he will need to have another tech come out to service this which will be $400. He also made reference to having to cut the pipes to get to the coil. Well, I had a second opinion who was able to clean the coil without cutting any pipes, added freon and even checked my heating unit for $200. Soooo, please be cautious if considering this company.
The WORST company ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – These other reviews must be paid associates, because this is officially the WORST company that I have ever dealt with!!!!! Rude and half assed workmanship. They failed to install my furnace properly and the owner calls me STUPID for not inspecting the inside of the furnace more regularly. As far as the work goes they cut corners on everything they could. My brother in law who does HVAC commercially for a living just had to laugh and email a picture of the work to all his HVAC buddies. RUN! RUN! RUN! Let your 2 year child do the work before these guys!!!!
Excellent service. They accommodated our last minute call without hesitation and surcharge. Labor fees and overall cost completely reasonable. The only negative was that we had not called them before...the previous HVAC company we used when our heater condensation pump failed obviously gouged us.
Kindness and helpfulness – Thank you for being so prompt and so kind to rescue us on the coldest night of the year. Believe us! We will call you again if needed and we will tell others of your kindness and helpfulness. Again thank you!
Respectable business – I do drywall and was working at a job where they were installing an A.C. unit for the people there. I know that service guys like plumber, electricians, A.C. HVAC, and painters, etc are usually rough around the edges and crass at times but not these guys. When our AC system started acting up I called them up, because i remembered how well they had treated the client for which I was also doing work for. They treated me with the same respect and professionalism that they did for them. They replace a coolant coil which had ruptured, and where in and out in no time.
AC problem solvers – The AC unit in our guest house finally gave in last summer, and the summer is almost around the corner...so I called around getting different quotes for the job. Guaranteed Heating & Cooling had the best price by far and they were also very understanding of the limitations of the times they could work due to the fact that I work, and can't be there all day except the weekends. They did a great job, and now we'll be ready for the summer.
