Don't do it! – By far one of the worst places ever! The GM has the worst people skills I have ever seen. He treats the customers and the wait staff so poorly. He even belittled our server right in front of my table. This girl had been working there for quite some time and was a fantastic server. Between that and what can only be described as a very poor attempt at a "special", I see no reason for me or anyone I know to ever return to this sorry attempt of a restaurant.
Simple and Comforting – I've been going to Two Guys since I was born. Its definitely a staple of Hillborough St. and is frequented by current and former NCSU students. There is nothing incredible or fancy about this place. If you are a food snob take it somewhere else. It is definitely a restaurant that caters to the campus and its a great place to go for some comfort food at a relatively cheap price. The wait staff is not outstanding but they are attentive enough and allow you to eat in peace without trying to chat you up for a juicier tip.
Great place – I love this place! I've been to Two Guys several times over the years & I'm never disappointed! There pizza is the best, you can't go wrong. The prices are reasonable, especially with the amount of food you get.
Rudinos rooftop – If you want great pizza come to rudinos rooftop in north raleigh. You cant eat a slice without tons of toppings. Not to mention our beer is super cold. They have every sports packeage possible with a tv on every wall. I cant wait to go back to rudinos rooftop.
best stone pizza and homemade tomato sauces!!! – we tried eating there on july 12, 2008 and were blown away on how good the pizza and spaghetti actually was, this place could use a little curb apeal, but once you eat the pizza you forget about that!!! a large 17 inch pizza with 2 topping was only $15.46, great value for such a quality price. service was ok, this is one of the few mom and pop type places still in downtown raleigh been there 35 years, so they must be doing something right. definitly worth going to eat there.
Avoid at all costs – I ate pizza here once and was very unimpressed. I then decided to give the pasta a shot and, again, was very unimpressed. The service was mediocre at best (no drink refills, never gave us the check, had no recommendations to share) and the meal itself was absolutely terrible. The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce and a splash of onion (tomatoes may have been left out due to health concerns at the time) - nothing else (the dressing was not all that bad, however). The lasagna dish was nothing but cheese and hard noodles. The meat tasted sour and fishy and had a ugly film on it. Additionally, the lasagna was not layered at all and served in a bowl not the usual caraffe-style presentation you would receive at a truly authentic Italian restaurant. Frankly, I have had better "authentic" Italian at Olive Garden. I am all for supporting local, family-owned businesses, but Two Guys is hard to revisit after the two bad experiences I have had in the past year.
Best pizza and pasta around in Raleigh – I love this place. I have been going there ever since I was a child and they have the best Spaghetti and Meatballs and their pizza is just out of this world. One large pizza looks as though it could end world hunger and the service is really great.
30 years of the BEST PIZZA in RALEIGH! – I started eating at 2 Guys in 1973 while attending NCSU. The "Penthouse Owen" guys ate there EIGHT nights a week!! There was no cafeteria on campus, so 2 Guys became our college kitchen table. The owners and waitstaff treated us like family. Occasionally after supper, the waitress would treat us to the wonderfull baklava which somehow never appeared on the bill!
If you want a great family place with delicious hearty fare at a student friendly price, look no further. After graduation, my wife and I, and now my wife and I and our two sons have enjoyed frequent trips across town to get a taste of the the pizza ( we always ask for THICK crust) or the 2 Guys Special ( messy, but worth every napkin and dribbled shirt). We always laugh with friends when we tell them that we pass at least 20 Pizza places on our way to 2 Guys.
Now my older son is at NCSU and we meet him there as often as we can to enjoy the food and a little trip down memory lane.
2 Guys is a college kind of place that welcomes families and friends. The owners are likely to sit down with you for a moment to catch up on the latest family news or make sure your tea glass is full. I can honestly say I have never eaten anything at 2 Guys that I didn't like. The new owners have done a great job of preserving the original feel while sprucing it up for the next generation of devoted fans. I hope to treat my grandkids to pizza a 2 Guys in the years to come.
great pizza, and italian dishes. real family homey place. – thought i would write in about two guys, i used to go there to eat all the time between 1980-2001, but we stopped in 2001 cause over the years the owners let it run down and get dirty, but it always had great pizza and tomato sauce. recently i found out that in june 2007 it has a new owner and they had come in and freshened the place up!! well, i thought we would give it a try again to see for ourselves.we could not beleive our eyes when we got there, the carpet was new, that nasty wood panelling had been painted over with wolfpack red and white, with black trim, the ceiling has been replaced, modernized lighting in the dining room with new pictures and posters on the walls with spot lights highlighting them, most importantly the bathrooms spruced up, which used to be nasty,( even red toilets in the ladies room!!!). we were totally overwelmed with how nice it now looks now and the food still tastes great like it did years ago for very reasonable prices, the service was good and friendly as always, and i will start going back more often again. so my hat goes off to the new owner for the cosmetic changes made, but still keeping the menu and food the same!!! we will start recomending this restaurant to people again!!! dont miss going there if you get a chance.
good Greek / Italian food. – I haven't been to Two Guys in years. I was actually surprised that they were still there. They're doing somthing right to have been in business in excess of thirty years. I remember the place when i was a student at NCSU. It's still run by Family and students. Pictures of college memorbilia from the seventies and through the ninties still adorn the walls. It made me remember my fun days at the university. The food hasn't seemed to change one bit. As in the past I went home with food to spare and the pricing was affordable. It's also the only place I can think of that still has crushed ice. I'll have to say, the next time I'm in Raleigh I will be sure to visit Two Guys once more.
