Terrible customer service and relations – I initially set up an appointment for a membership with Tim. During the appointment he was extremely dry, on edge, and acted like I was rushing him to the point I thought I may have misheard the time of the appointment and asked if I was late. He responded, "No, but I have somewhere to be." This turned me off, but I was set on getting back in shape and needed 24 hour facilities with my work schedule so went ahead and signed up.
In 4 months of working out there 5 or more days a week I literally don't think I saw the guy smile once to myself or another customer. I even made an attempt to smile and say hello to him on multiple occasions only to get a dry, "Whats up" in return. On one occasion my card quit working and I couldn't get through to him for multiple days. Snap Fitness centers are not staffed most of the day so without a working access card you are out of luck. After contacting corporate they finally got me help days later from someone else affiliated with this location. It turns out Tim went on vacation and left all of his paying customers hanging with no way to contact him as his voicemail box was full. When he got back in town I politely told him about his voicemail and not to worry as I got it sorted out anyway. He gave me a snide remark saying, "It was out of my control." An acquaintance of mine wanted to sign up and also had much trouble getting ahold of Tim. The next day at the gym I let Tim know the guy left him two voicemails. His response was, "Believe me if I had got two voicemails I would have called him back. That's how I make my money." I couldn't believe him. Instead of asking how he could contact a potential customer his response was to jump to the conclusion that the guy must be lying to me.
Tonight I finally was at my wits end with Tim. In 4 months of working out at Snap Fitness Xenia my girlfriend has only been a handful of times as my guest. In our initial meeting I asked Tim about bringing guests and he said it is no problem, but they need to sign up after 7 visits. I knew he told me wrong as the fine print says 7 day guest passes, but assumed he was lax on the issue if the person wasn't coming regularly. In all honesty I should have bought her a pass, but couldn't justify spending $34.99 for her to come once a month on average. When we walked in the door Tim was vacuuming on the other side of the gym. With the vacuum running and other guests in the gym he yelled to me in a manner like we had stole something, "Does she have a pass?" I walked toward him as not to yell over his vacuum cleaner and be rude to the other guests. On my way over he started ranting on and on about her not being on my membership. I was about to tell him to add her to my pass, but started the sentence "She doesn't come very often on average...." to see if he might give me a better deal on a family membership since I would mainly be the only one using it. He cut me off with, "It doesn't matter I have saw her in here before." From my numerous interactions with him I have come to the conclusion he is the type of guy that pessimistically arrives at what you are going to say before you even say it and has one big chip on his shoulder. At this point with everyone in the gym staring I had enough of dealing with him, told him to cancel my membership, and left.
For a single membership their price is $29.99-$34.99 per month and they offer no amenities such as showers, pool, saunas, etc. They have a tanning room, but only after I signed up did I find out it is non-functional. Also, if you have any lifting experience then you will be disappointed in the free weight equipment. The only way to bench press and squat is with dumbbells or a smith machine. You can get much better gym memberships in the area with many more amenities and better staffing for a cheaper price.
