I have been a patient at Raleigh Family Practice for 15+ years. My doctor and PA recently retired, Dr. Hamrick and Mr. Trenner. I was assigned Dr. Gary Bean and I must tell you this doctor has been the worst doctor I have ever seen in my entire 55 years of life. He has absolutely no professional ethics and based on my experience lacks common sense and technical knowledge. I would avoid this practice since he is one of the few MD on staff. WORST EVER
I have been a patient here for the past 4 years and have seen a steady DECLINE in the treatment of patients, from both the office and Dr/PA sides of this practice. Stacy Allen, PA, is who I saw the most. My concern is high cholesterol. He was more concerned with keeping the time short at the appt so he could get to other patients, and would say that openly - "we can't talk about that concern b/c it would put us going into someone else's appt and that wouldn't be fair now, would it?"; he would always get my name wrong; and when I went through a bout of depression he kept asking if I exercised or got outside, as if that is the answer to clinically diagnosed depression. How antiquated and unprofessional. The office staff is rude and if you do not pay your bill in the 2.5 week time they give you, then they slap on a 10$ fee. So unlike other agencies that go through the 30, 60, 90 day process. You only get 2.5 weeks with this practice.
Basically, I am OUTTA HERE and your practice has LOST YET ANOTHER PATIENT. Good bye, and good riddance!
Recently drove 45 minutes (one way) for an appointment that I made two days prior. Upon arrival I was shocked to find out that my appointment had either never been reserved, or was dropped from the schedule, because the front desk had no record of my appointment. I thought that I might have come in on the wrong date, but I then found out that there was absolutely nothing in the schedule for me at all. I reviewed my iPhone, which showed that I had called and spoken to someone for several minutes and shared this with the appointment scheduler. I made it clear that I was not a walk in and had actually made an appointment and would like to be seen. I was told that I could either come back the next day, or wait until 4pm - current time was 11:45am.
I was really upset since I had taken time away from work, driven, and put off going to the urgent care in lieu of being seen by my regular physician. Instead of focusing on trying to correct their error and work me in they were more interested in questioning if I actually had an appointment. I was told that they were focusing on going to lunch and could wait until the end of the day if I wanted to see a doctor. If I wanted to sit around and wait I would have gone to an urgent care several days before. I had put up with their long wait time/short face time visits in the past, but those days are done. I walked out and will not be returning.
have been going here for years..always loved seeing Dr. Burkhead..she was friendly and knows her stuff. unfortunately last week had the misfortune of having to see Dr. Babcock,; as soon as he entered the room I could tell this wasnt going to be good. I didnt and still dont appreciate his condescending attitude and lack of understanding that i dont have medical insurance; i know there are plenty more in the same boat. Right now, Dr. Babcock is holding my medicine "hostage" as currently get my insulin for free thru a program for working ppl w/o insurance. This Dr is refusing to sign a needed form for my medicine unless i do everything he has told me to do. While i appreciate his "fake" compassion, I need my insulin. i will never go back to him again and hopefully once this issue is taken care of, i will be looking for another doctor. Avoid this guy at all costs; nurses at the practice are decent, especially Akia.
Rude staff and nurses – The doctor my husband and I see is great, but the office staff does not return your calls when you have to leave a message after waiting ten minutes for someone to pick up. A few of the nurses have been extremely rude to me when they call me back about my results from my lab work. I am a previous cancer survivor and would like to have my results called back. You are lucky if you get the results in a week. Then, when the nurse calls, she acts like you are really bothering her, or her to have to do this. I have been talked to so ugly sometimes by the office staff and nurses that my husband and I are thinking of looking another practice. I'm never ugly or rude to them. They can never get any information straight when you leave a message for a doctor and a nurse always returns the doctors call, not the doctor. Betty, an older nurse is especially rude so hope you never have to deal with her. She interrupts while you are talking. I have complained several times about her and she always denies her actions or the Dr. will give an excuse for her behavior, like well maybe she's having a bad day. Dr. Hamrick is great but he will be loosing two great patients because of the office staff and the rude nurses they have working for them.
Very disappointed patient.
Most Horrible Experience with a Doctor Ever – My husband went to see Dr. Babcock as a new patient in June of this past year and this was our first bad experience with him. Dr. Babcock was rude, has terrible bedside manners and did not listen to the issues that my husband was experiencing. We went back again for a different issue in November and had the worst experience with a doctor ever. First of all he was 30 minutes late for the appointment and then when my husband explained that he was having issues staying awake for a 12 hour night shift and discussed a prescription for Nuvigil to see if it would help him stay awake for work, Dr. Babcock refused to prescribe him Nuvigil and diagnosed him with sleep apnea without him ever completing testing. Dr. Babcock once again was rude, interupted when both of us were trying to discuss the issues and did not have any desire to listen to the issues or assist with an option for Night Shift Disorder. Needless to say, we left the office abruply after Dr. Babcock decided he needed to "step out of the office" and refused to let us see another doctor. We demanded a refund our of insurance copay and left. I would not recommend him in any fashion...RUDE!
Best Dr. EVER!!!!! – Dr. Burkhead is by far the best Dr. I've every been to in my life. She is not only professional but caring. She makes you feel like you are the most important person during her busy day . she treats our whole family and would never give her ups so.... Kudos to you Dr. Burkhead you're awesome!!!!! I have been going to Raleigh Family Practice for over four years now and I always see Amie Clarke. She is knowledgeable and caring, and what I like best is that she takes the time to listen to you. I have been treated for difficult issues that require extra attention as I am allergic to many medications, and even under these circumstances I have never felt like she rushed through or out of an exam.
I do not know what happened between these other individuals and Ms. Clarke, but Ms. Clarke and I have very good rapport and in my opinion she is one of the best medical providers I have ever had the good fortune of finding.
I can't believe that there have been multiple bad reviews for Amie Clark. I find her amazing. After being to a PCOS specialist, and an endocrinologist, she was the most knowledgeable of all of them regarding my PCOS. She referred me to a great gyno, and took the time to listen to my concerns. She went over my extensive blood panel with me line by line, which no one had ever done with me before. She even worked with me on an issue I had to get insurance coverage for it.
The wait time is bad, but I have yet to be to a doctor in Raleigh whose wait time wasn't bad. They're overbooked, and their office staff seem to be barely keeping up with stuff. But I'll keep going there for Amie Clark. She's the best.
An appointment with Amie Clarke = WASTE OF TIME – Don't make an appointment with Amie Clarke unless you just have some extra time you'd like to waste.
I have had five appointments with her and she has had someone call to cancel three of them (within two hours of the appointment). The last one was while I was in the car on my way to the office.
Seems she decides at the last minute to take the rest of the day off.
Don't waste your time on her. There are plenty of others in town that want our business!
